33% of South Koreans live alone, paying high prices for tiny rooms called 'goshiwon' or 'one-room', and some end up on the lonely end of the spectrum, dubbed "loner deaths. Why is Korean housing like this?

Local councils in UK have a duty to dispose of people who have died alone with no one to take care of their body. The care of this team to pray and take care of them is wonderful. It is an honour to see them off safe.

A lot of people need something to be a part of, not just a few aquintances but a purpose. There's a lot of people that are very kind in South Korea but also a lot of people who are not and in large cities that means more of those cruel types of people who are a group with a purpose, without something to be a part of their is no hope only more cruelty. I feel sad to see this because I have been through exactly what they have been through being born in 88, Wish I can help some of them to find a reason for being to find a purpose and hope.

My country has social security coverage which is mandatory upon all companies & employers to contribute for each employee. It's a permanent record even they changed jobs. Employees are protected if they get injured, dis abled at work or an accident, even on way to work they'll get one sum disability compensation plus monthly allowance payment for life. If later die spouse is entitled allowance transfer to the spouse. Health benefits at public hospital FOC. A developed SK surely such employees benefits are in place? Or I'm not aware of such?

What the heck is a solitary/unnatural death? Is it just a less harsh way of saying suicide or did these people die from health problems and were discovered weeks later because they lived alone?

The cleaning company guy at @13:00 said that some are suicides, and the producer lady shows a chart of the suicide rate at @27:36. The cause is not the same in every one of these cases. Generally it must be a combination of poor mental health, physical health issues gone untreated with nobody checking on them when it deteriorated, poor nutrition, and who knows, even starvation. Also, only 10% were young from 20 to 30, the rest are middle-aged and probably most of them old people. Which is ironic for a Confucian society that places a lot of importance on respecting the elderly no matter what.

Apart from not having a job, I'd feel lethargic & depressed too if my room was that filthy. I don't understand why they have to live apart from their family if they don't have the means to stand alone. Wouldn't it be better if they pool their resources & thrive together? I guess their culture dictates their decisions though they really don't have to. Every family & individual situation is different. I'm just thankful to God that I can still support my children & they can also support me in times of need.

If you couldn't stand alone or don't have a stable job just live with your parents....parents don't want it...we are parents too but we don't want my son to leave us since he is just alone and we can afford to send him to school but he insist to live in seoul sooner or later cuz it's too far from his job and school...but as parents we don't want to...but for his convenience we are just allowing him....my worried is what if he is living alone and lonely? Well...some people living alone but not lonely...and they have peace of mind rather than living to their parents....reminders to everyone put god first before anything else...❤🙏❤

In Italy we live with our parents until we are well off on our feet, and the world made fun of us, but then lately it has become a standard in many other countries. As it was mentioned already, keep in touch with your son, invite him to visit during holidays such as Chuseok, call him regularly, make him feel he is loved. You are right, living alone should not be equivalent as to be lonely and worse alienated. As adult, I feel responsible on what is left as legacy to the young generations...Korean system with high competition and strict hierarchical structure and rules creates too many no way outs... and this is especially visible in big saturated cities such as Seoul or Busan. I would say to the young people to leave the big cities and start anew in satellite cities, they are not saturated and there are more opportunities, also cost of living will be less. Instead of struggling, put your effort there where there are real opportunities to make it. Do marketing research not on a product but on a city, region and move there, establish your companies there. All the best !

What? 😱Kodokushi - a lonely death prevalent espc among the elderly in Japan also happens in SK but including among young pple😢. SK a highly developed rich country? I sob emotionally watching this K-doc😭. Pls not the SK youth 20s-30s. Oh god! What's SK govt doing to help the youth? Any social welfare or youth ministry to solve this gruesome incidents? I feel so depressed just trying to imagine the pain and suffering of young pple who fell thru social safety net giving up, dying away in utter despair of life🤧. There's a calculated economic loss to SK when many young pple die away like this. Loss of human capital resources😔

Korea need do something with their bullying culture and toxic work culture where one need to drink alcohol so the superior like them, over stress lifestyle I also shock, i thought it only in Japan but it seems SK will walk the same road Is one day both this country will extinct with low birth rate and now suicide? I truly wonder, since korea should be not as harsh as Japan that they never accept children of mixed couple as Japanese people But i do think Korea racism still high until now

You think that Koreans do NOT pay taxes? The issue is in government, NOT in the population. The population who pays taxes is already paying for a theoretical net which they are obviously not getting. That is why we all pay taxes, to help others, because it could be us. The government is corrupt and the current one is misogynistic to boot. Tell Samsung and LG families to help, they can afford to, billions of times over. Do not take the only thing people have pleasure in from the regular poor people. FYI- I am not a K-pop fan. I have nothing against it, but it is not my kind of 'jam'.

he probably doesn't see himself like that at all?`He seems to have strong anxiety and depression too. If someone is down that dark hole he won't see anything like his looks, like you do. Also you don't know about his probably bad family history. Who knows, maybe his family always told him he was ugly and worthless- he then will see himself like that and act like that. He would need professional help for this but I guess it's particularly hard in Korea as there is still few places for psychotherapy and the waiting times for an appointment are crazy long, like between 1-3 years.

This world is power, FAME AND FORTUNE driven. We are supposed to be our brothers keeper. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord thy God with all you heart , mind and strength, and love your neighbor the same way you would like to be loved. Your neighbor is everyone in this world besides yourself. The devil tells us love yourself and no one else, want more and more but when is more enough? The elites of this world with billions at their disposal are not satisfied so they create an environment of dog eat dog. With the poor and middle class trying to devour each other for the scraps they leave. And we become as greedy and evil as they are with no end in sight. No one should die alone, every human being was created in the image if God and have value whether they know or believe it. Follow Jesus example and care and love the disenfranchised, the orphans, the widows, those unable to care for themselves for whatever reason. That person who died alone could have been you or me or someone we loved. Its only because of the grace and mercy of God it was not. Jesus said if you cared for the least it would be counted as though you care for him personally and he will reward your kindness.

Now the question is, is majority SK have religion or not? The way they behave make me belive their god is materialism/ money Almost similar to China, they keep thinking money and money, for themselves and for their family, seems less about orphan, widows etc Also their social stigma of widows and orphans also seems not nice, and maybe they afraid of frauds too since being too kind in materialic world is like become sheep in wolves den

How much do you believe in God if you are best friends with satanic freemasonry, you are just repeating some key words as if Jesus or God was a kind of lucky charm you just have to say their names and everything will be fine. They have exploited Koreans and they still do. Stay in your dream world if you are not ready for the truth.

@@Staroy isnt in your Quran it mention Isa/ Jesus is sinless human and He like prophet Elijah ascend to heaven without die in the cross? So how you contradict your own Quran to say He is a ghost in the sky? In order something to called as ghost, you need to die first and if Jesus indeed die, it should be on crucifixion and if you dont admit crucifixion, it's okay but you cant say He didnt in heaven right now because Jesus not die like Muhammad, Jesus indeed ascend to heaven and one day He will return back to earth, fo Christian it mean to save us from Satan and for Muslim it mean he share Quran in every places, so it's should be true Jesus is not ghost and He right now in heaven
