If he gets his way, which he probably will since the Supreme Court is in his pocket, what happens to the kids born here from non citizens whose country won't recognize the the childs birthright either? I can see the reverse of this happening too, where children born of US citizens in foreign countries might not recognize the birthright of these children either. For instance, we had thousands of children born of US servicemen in foreign countries which our country does not recognize as US citizens - what if these countries demand that these individuals be given legal status in our country under the same reasoning. Essentially, Trump is opening the door to millions of people who may not be legal in any country. No one seems to think these things out - but with Trump, essentially, it is how much cruelty can you inflict on people who can't possibly fight back, rather than remain with the status quo which has been recognized since the inception of the 14th Amendment.

Actually he should include anyone that doesn't have at least one parent with I describe as "allegiance" the constitution describes as "sovereignty". Using the foreign diplomat standard, no child born here, should be a citizen, unless one parent is already one. The fact is the 14th amendment was meant to allow citizenship to children of slaves after they gained their freedom, and nothing else. The SCOTUS should address this issue. We are the only major or Western country to allow "birthright" citizenship and it not really law.

This is a common ply the left has done to create division. When they speak on this issue they just say immigrant or immigration and leave off the illegal part of the descriptive for the issue. I do not know anyone, sure there are a few but they are a huge minority, that has an issue with legal immigration. I love meeting people with different origins and cultures myself, find this a wonderful way to learn new things. However there is a HUGE difference in my eyes between someone that came into the country in a legal matter to settle here and become a US citizen and someone that broke our lays and disrespected our nation, then expecting us to welcome them.

Actually health insurance in Germany is paid for out of taxes. If she makes above a certain amount a year, she can opt for private insurance covered by employer. Also, private insurance by employer is light years cheaper than insurance in United States. It is true that German citizenship is harder to ascertain. Maybe she should opt for the public system if the private one is too expensive. I highly doubt that you are saying half truths because less than fifteen percent of Germans have private insurance. She should probably opt for public rather than private which is less than two hundred per year. And if she makes less than 74k Euro a year, then she is eligible for the public insurance. This is coming from a man who has lived, studied, and worked in Germany. And also my family is German

Well, the migrants, whether legal or illegal, I know and have met actually work AND pay taxes, usually in the form of sales taxes, but taxes nonetheless and they don't use ANY of the benefits available to U.S. citizens. All of you calling for the mass deportations better be careful because you may actually have to start doing some REAL work for low pay as you may end up doing the jobs that the very migrants you complain about often do, from construction to field worker, to housekeeping. All this to say that many migrants whether legal or illegal, are not freeloaders and do pay taxes, usually leave the U.S. anyway after they have saved up the money or got the education they came for so cut them some slack.

Good luck. The only way to override a constitutional amendment is to pass another amendment. The Jurisdiction part refers to, and is strongly reinforced by precedent and case law. I imagine you're not intelligent enough to know this, but to pass an amendment, it'll need 2/3rd majority in both the house and Senate and even then, 75% of states need to ratify it before it becomes official. I don't think that'll happen. Die mad about it.

Trump knew the EO would be challenged in the courts which is exactly why he did it on day one. Get the process started and eventually lands in the Supreme Court. Even though the court is conservative now. It's hard to say if they will uphold the order or not. The truth is it tow's the line of the constitution even though anyone who knows their history know that how it is used today was not the purpose of it when they wrote it into the constitution. Time to fix it, and Trump put that in motion.

So the use of the EO on birth right was a smart move. The issue is a matter of interpretation of the clause in the Constitution and for the Supreme Court to rule there has to be an action. The EO creates that action. If the Supreme Court upholds the EO then they need to move to codify the position which will not require a Constitutional Amendment at that point. If they do not codify the EO (if upheld) then the next President can strike it down, creating more of a mess. I think a big consideration to this is that the EO is really targeted at stopping the use of a thing known as an anchor baby. This practice has been around a long time and it allows a bypass of existing immigration laws.

@@de6212 the passage "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" is the one that is in question since it has not been over the years clearly defined. It will be clearly defined however before this is done. If the court rules the premise is, your born in the US not matter your status then that is what it will be. However we already have acceptations to this rule. Diplomats are not subject for their children. Someone vacationing in the US is not subject for a birth, there are already common sense expectations to the rule and I think being in the country illegally falls into that common sense approach.

A Federal Court Judge is NOT a part of Congress. They are a part of the Judicial Branch. And they are there to be able to challenge executive orders because the Judicial Branch interprets the constitution.

Back in 2022 when btc was at its cycle low, people where saying btc is done for it's going below $15k US it's going to zero. Well it's down 10% from mid March ath 2024 and now everyone is shitting themselves. That doesn't make any logical sense especially for crypto.Its just a shake out phase, chill people go zoom out at old charts. They are subjects to the jurisdiction of Mexico until officially and legally declared subjects of the United States of America.
