Are they buying stocks that dropped prices and then selling after tariffs are lifted? All business transactions including kick backs and bribes for putting on tariffs and removing tariffs. The question is why does he do that? He already tried tariffs in his first term. They did not work. The US deficit increased, manufacturing jobs did not return and the US government did not make money because it had to compensate the people suffering under the tariffs. I think he wants to generate revenues that are not called "taxes". He can blame anyone for rising prices but his supporters won't get it. The middle class and the poor will pay the tariffs indirectly, this finances tax cuts for the oligarchs.

When our biggest refineries were built we imported most of our petroleum from OPEC. In fact, oil refineries today are way too time=$ to build. These 'cracking plants' were not designed to make diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, efficiently. Canada's primary stash is closer to OPEC' s 'heavy' oil. Trump and Trump lovers may not realize this, we, the US CANNOT make gasoline easily from 'deeply fracked shale sourced ultra-light oil because of the OPEC connection. The worst part? Shale oil is peaking. Canada is our biggest supplier. (of heavy oil) Since China, India, are still growing , taking much of OPEC + Russian oil, Canada is the new OPEC, to USA.
