That's NOT what was said in the program. If you watch from 33:40 you'll see that it's not that people "feel better", it's that they empirically "have been shown to have a significantly lower risk of dying in the next decade and a half" (the direct quote on screen). Nothing to do with 'feelings', simply a report looking into mortality compared with religious attendance vs not while other facts such as age etc presumably are matched i.e. two people who are near enough identical in various facts other than one attends a religious service at least once a week while the other does not attend any. I say this as someone who isn't religious. Of course you're welcome to share your feelings at criticise religion all you like. But I'm sure you didn't intend to misrepresent what the show made clear; I suspect you simply didn't remember the detail correctly. It's easy to do given how many statistics and other data get thrown at us by the show. Cheers

@@johnnyfelcher8156 apparently you are not an historian. For you to assume that my comparison is stupid is what makes you stupid because you shouldn’t be so quick to judge my comment unless you’ve did your research. The British and the French should have went to war against Hitler the moment he had marched troops into the Rhineland in 1936. Great Britain and France (especially the France) shouldn’t have waited while the Germans had occupied Czechoslovakia and Poland. If only the French had mobilized against Hitler in 1936 or when he took over Czechoslovakia in 1938, that would have more than likely prevented World War II in Europe. The same goes for today, if we let Russia defeat the Ukraine, Putin would not stop there. He would go for Belarus and Poland, next. Sending arms to the Ukraine is a hell of a lot cheaper and less dangerous than fighting a future World War III.

Every data point I've seen says the exact opposite - what is your source? For example "people who profess a religious belief are significantly more likely to give to charity than non-believers" And this is seen everywhere - the Catholic church is the largest non-government provider of health care and education in the world. Without those funds, millions would go without healthcare and education in impoverished nations. And it's not for their 'agenda'. For example, the Catholic Church is the number one provider of HIV medication in India - you could argue this goes against their agenda, but they still do it.

Australia’s church goers amount to 16 to 20 percent of the population. A society can thrive on low church attendance. But a society needs to have trust in its institutions imagine if you could not trust the baker to produce unadulterated bread, or policeman to act honestly or even that the water coming out of your tap would not poison your children. You would worry. you would be anxious. Some bloke very wisely has proven that the more trust citizens have in there society the richer that country is. I think looking at church attendance equals putting your head in the sand.

The ‘Dechurching’ of America, and the world for that matter, can only be a very good thing in the long run IMHO. Those opting out will, like all generations before them, find their way and rise to their natural ‘level’ eventually. Taken overall, religion has had such devastating effects on all communities around the world throughout history. To say that your health would be in decline just leaving church is very flaky indeed. Yes, like losing a tooth, it might be quite ‘sore’ and immediate, but with the abundance of spiritual practices that can be practiced in your own home, inside your head, would be a great remedy for this. Churches have hoodwinked their ‘flock’ for too long. All bad things must come to an end 😊❤

I think PA should have introduced Michael Graham as being a member of the Orlando Grace Church and having a Master of Divinity from the Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando (his bio can be Googled). Maybe he approaches the topic of de-churching objectively (I am not convinced by either his arguments or his 'evidence') but from where I am sitting he looks to be, and has a vested interest in, cherry-picking his research. De-churching may be an interesting topic (not convinced it is) but please pick someone who can unambiguously discuss the topic both expertly and objectively.

If they don't have opinions on Trump, enough to satisfy jury requirements, isn't that cause for concern in a way also. Some opinions must be aloud. Funny that OJ dies during this.. the last person I've heard to put spotlight on this issue.

@@johnl6176 I know where in this video it was claimed, but Trump has never claimed it and his Defense opening statement failed to make that claim, saying instead that her testimony would be irrelevant. This is appalling reporting from the ABC. Why did they just make up this assertion out of whole cloth?

I think people turning away from religion is exciting as it shows education is working in our societies ie. the young are questioning the validity of religion seeing what science has to offer after the hypocrisy that religion has shown in the past also dividing people leading to hate. The research that Mr Graham mentioned I wonder who paid for this research cos that will tell us how flawed this research is. Great show as always guys, I love that you always show both sides of the coin giving a balanced analysis.
