Hello, just a quick question. I am preparing for my test on an automatic car. There is an auto-hold feature along with an electronic hand brake. I am wondering if I should turn on auto-hold during the test, do I have to apply an electronic hand brake as well or it is fine not to use an electronic hand brake every time I stop as auto hold will be stoping the car from rolling anyway during driving and only use electronic hand brake when stopping roadside. Please can you elaborate this and make a video on these new cars with these new features as a lot of people are using these now for test so it will be beneficial.

Im a commerical rated pilot who has taken alot of tests with examiners in high stress situations, also almost 2 years ago I passed my UK DL with 0 faults. My tip would get to know the area where you will be taking the test like the back of your hand. Most confusion and thus a possible fail is caused by coming across a situation you are not used to or didnt expect. So keep that in mind. Just my 2 cents

@@mysticladytarot7777 However, such as the city in question in the video (Bury St Edmunds) there are a lot of faded road markings (I am taking my test here too), so going through with an instructor to gather some knowledge is key, because it could be as simple as a speed sign hidden between trees, faded lane markings and hidden roundabout signs. So yes you are not expected to know every inch of tarmac, but you are expect to navigate it safely, and to increase those chances, going through before the test is valuable.

So unfortunately I failed. I got 4 minors and only 1 serious fault for response to traffic lights. So basically I had to turn left and there were 2 buses which I thought were picking up people but they were waiting at a temporary traffic light which I didn’t see and then the examiner told me that I went through a red light and I was like f**k I’ve failed, but at the test centre, the examiner said the next test I will definitely pass. They also thought I was test ready

(Alan) Some advice please.......My wife (68yo) is learning to drive with a driving school, in an Automatic Yaris. She's had about 20 lessons now, and her (female) instructor said she's doing really well. When I take her out in our Yaris (fitted with dual control), she gets extremely nervous, starts breathing rapidly, and crushing the steering wheel. Forgetting what she is supposed to be doing, and not staying in the correct lane on roundabouts. Which is ok as long as there isn't any other traffic about. I avoid being too critical, but it's very difficult.

@@AdvanceDrivingSchool My wife is nowhere close to test standard yet, and I think it's going to take time. Thankfully time and money aren't an issue. I just need her to calm down when out with me. (I don't think that having a couple of drinks beforehand is an option :) ) Her instructor does give advice on where we should go to practice, and it helps if we go somewhere her instructor has taken her. what do you mean have another mirror, does the examiner not bring his own one if using personal car?

You are supposed to provide one for the examiner. At our test centre the examiners do have a spare mirror but other places might not have one and refuse to do the test!

As long as you don't cause any danger you won't be marked down for parking outside of your box.

You shall signal each time you change direction of the vehicle according to Smart Drive Test's videos. That includes when overtaking a cyclist, doing a 3-point turn, & overtaking a parked car.

Will we still be returned to the test centre if we get a serious driving fault within a certain amount of time into the test or will we be made to continue?

At the moment (August 2021) the test will be shortened if you make a serious or dangerous fault. We expect that at some point this practice will end and things will return to normal - where the full test route is driven unless too many dangerous faults are made to continue.

Hello I have a question what happens when a police car with his sirens on goes through a red light and almost hits someone in intersection? Who would be in the wrong? is it a major fault?

I believe emergency vehicles can pass red lights but should be ready to give way to vehicles already on the junction. If there is a collision I expect the emergency vehicle will probably found to be at fault.

As long as you passed your theory in Great Britain, it won’t matter as your pass is held on the system. The examiner will only ask to see your provisional license at the start of your driving test. Good luck!
