Remember a prisoner who had killed a baby coming onto the hospital ward with a life sentence, he had been on the 6 pm news so all the cons on the ward were aware of him.He arrived on the ward later that evening and after I’d put him in with the rest of the cons they all set on him about 10 of them. I was on my own so it was a good while before I got enough staff to break it up- he was in a bad way by then

I doubt anything would have happened to me as I had a good relationship with the ward cons, but that was the protocol to wait for staff.Nothing happened to any any of the attackers.

In HMP chelmsford I was put on the hospital wing for a short while. There was one in a cell who was bragging to the night nurse all night what he'd done to a little girl. He was always locked in his cell when the rest of us were out. In the morning I went out and filled a big bottle with boiling hot water and sugar went to his obs hatch and pretended to be friendly getting him to come to the hatch then dashed him in his face. It was the only time I was ever violent in prison. I was a model prisoner becoming a mentor and doing my degree with the OU. But this guy sickened me and brought up things in my own childhood. What made it worse was that the scumbag had won a significant ammount on the lottery. I had to listen to him all night bragging about what he'd done with absolutley no remorse.. I can't even repeat what he was saying. He was lucky he was behind that cell door cos a lot of people wanted to do him in.

I'm a DS Ricky, been in the job nearly 20 years now buddy. I've had to nick and interview several S/O's throughout my career, it never gets easier mate, believe me mate, we and prison officers alike, hate them with a passion, particularly those whom offend against minors. I've gone home many times and burst into tears mate, and what makes it much harder, is not being able to tell the other half very much, other than it's been a hard day at work. Back in my uniform days, I did a bed watch, high profile DP, can't name him here, but I was repulsed by him, his behaviour and how he spoke to female nurses and doctors. Sadly couldn't slot him, but I wanted to.

Back in the early nineties in my local remand jail, when you go see the doctor on reception, there was always the hospital redband there too and you were asked what you were in for. If he was a wrongun, the red band would give the nod to the boys when getting the next newcomer in. Sometimes the screws would deliberately leave their cell doors open after locating them in a cell. In those days it was usually a PP9 battery in a sock. The big square heavy ones.

I was in HMYOI Brinsford with a kid that was sentenced for molesting his 8 year old sister way back in 2000, the screws made the fatal error of sticking him in reception with the rest of us who was in court and knew what he’d done. Ended up getting an extra year because of what we did to him. Let’s be clear, if I’d been lifed off, I’d do that with a smile on my face safe in the knowledge that one disgusting specimen of humanity was no longer breathing the same air as everyone else

What about a serial rapist on remand? I was raped by someone who conned his way into my home, subjected me to a 2hr ordeal, I only cooperated with police after a yr when cid called and said he’d done it again. He was due to stand trial but was also being investigated for further attacks. He faked his death and was caught in Spain a few weeks ago after 2yrs on the run. He’s now in Barlinnie on remand until trial. I’d love to get an idea of how that experience will be for him

What about the ones who are found guilty, but lie (inside) and say they thought the victim was age appropriate etc? Are they still treated with contempt by other inmates? Some can be very believable or personable (I cringe saying that, but I’ve seen it first hand) Rape is rape either way, but the manipulative ones are very good at making ppl think it was all a misunderstanding/could happen to any young man. ( I’ve even had it said “ppl read my offence and hate me but I explain and they’re fine”) Or if recalled due to breach, not index offence related? Is it, in your opinion a standard rule, sex offender=bad feeling with non sex offenders? Or do some get let off, almost? Or worse not seen due to reason for recall? Thinking of a particular recall, but you’d not guess the index. Albeit it’s very well documented but doesn’t necessarily look the same as at the start of the sentence. Said recall due to unrelated breach happened recently, but I can hear it said now about index “it could’ve happened to anybody” yet person is without doubt a predator (clocked at the very least dv, in the first meeting but not as quick to see the child rape) even after a lengthy sentence and start of long license hasn’t learnt anything except how to cover his tracks and be a likeable character to both men and women. As much as I don’t condone violence, I do find some comfort in him not getting an easy ride, especially if they see through his recent stories. Which isn’t hard to do.

I had a mate who once got blind drunk, pissed himself, took all his clothes off and got into bed with his mates wife. Cuddled up to her and got put away for it. Truth is it was a huge accident but she called the old bill and he got put away and put on the nonce wing. My aunts ex husband got thrown in prison for abusing my cousin. He would let us drink (we were 12 at the time this was 2017) and would bribe us even tho he was only doing it to one of us. He got to prison September 14th and was dead by September 23rd. He got shanked to death during lunch and it was made a huge news article. I live in a tiny town in New York so this was a pretty big thing. My aunt and his mom held a small private open casket funeral and my dad was pretty excited to tell me how many stab wounds he saw sadly I wasn’t allowed to go. Apparently he was completely unrecognizeable from the amount of stitches he needed to look “presentable”. Also September 21st he requested protective custody so the other inmates definitely moved fast on him before he could get PC. The PD released a blurry picture of his dead body and I wish I could see the video of him getting shanked by 10 dudes.

You've got ex police officer David Carrick who is serving over 30 life sentences with a 30 year minimum term for 80 sex offences including almost 50 rapes over almost 20 years against over 10 women. He also degraded and tortured his victims as well. The reason he got away with it for so long is because he was a police officer and used this to have his victims believe they'd never be believed. He got caught eventually after the Wayne Couzens scandal. No idea what prison conditions will be like for him because there will be prisoners queueing up to get him. It's not just sex offenders who get attacked in prison either. Anybody can be attacked (or even sexually assaulted) in one of His Majesty's establishments. If you're not naturally tough, you're at risk, and most especially if others pick up on it. Even if you were sent to prison for something as petty as not paying your TV License or stealing from a Supermarket, you could still be at risk if you can't take care of yourself.

And the officers should be held accountable for snitching on prisoners and spreading news around about what these lads are in for! in glenochil we have a seperate hall for the sex offenders the prison regime is basically run around allowing these monsters time at work and the gym so the mainstream prisoners are locked up alot through the day so these scum can get out of their cages they had all the good work sheds at one point they were allowed in the cooks and the laundry it soon got changed though thankfully i ended up working in the bakers and we usaed to put razor blades in their meals i seen worse though things that belong in the toilet also went in their soup after the beasts complained the prison had to install cameras to watch the food carts that get delivered to the different flats i have no sympathy for someone that can abuse defenceless kids

Don't you think a burger or mugger deserves the same treatment? They violate people and leave them traumatized too. My grandmother was mugged and it finished her off, yet that vermin probably thinks he should do nonces in too. If you're in prison you've often destroyed someone's life in one way or another with obvious exceptions, like a fight that went too far or killing a burglar by slowly skinning him and feeding him his own flesh, or nailing a mugger to a tree and ritually burning him after a few days of agony.

I've given a good hiding to two on separate occasions Years ago one in Preston jail one in wymott. . They left one by mistake in the waiting room at dentist so me & 2 lads filled him in proper.
