Gotta give the infographics show their flowers for 1. Fair portrayal of ketamine therapy, especially mentioning the need for continuous monitoring, acknowledging side effects, and mentioning that different brains respond to KT differently. 2. Portrayal of someone _actually recovering_ from a substance use disorder 3. Realistically portraying the slow realization that you have a substance problem (it’s not always the lightbulb moment shown in media) 4. Acknowledging that curious people learning about things like K may want to try it, and encouraging people to seek out harm reduction information.

I received Ketamine therapy from the VA system and it's insanely effective. I had resistance to treatment by all other means, was shut off from trying new things and miserable. Tried suicide twice. Afterwards it was so fascinating. I feel unstoppable, the real me was surpressed by all the anxiety and depression. I felt/feel so clear on my thoughts, inspirational moments strike so often it's magic. I literally gained IQ points because of the clarity it provided me. People don't understand clearly that depression is full on a disability, and they will ridicule you for suffering from it blaming you for being weak. Anyway, Ketamine works. If you can take it. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. The word Ketamine in Hebrew means "agreeable/reliable/authentic Crown"... Crown in the sense of "Crown Chakra" which is in essence a connection with a "higher-self" or rather a most authentic self (which INCLUDES the body, not transcends it). i have fallen ankles (also known as "flat feet") which makes every other part of my body feel very awkward and i suffer with body-dysmorphia... Ketamine has helped me find more understanding of my body and its natural language by its effect of somewhat loosening the feeling of awkwardness and disconnection (i.e: it has a type of inverse-dissasociative effect). i hope it will become more available to those struggling with the symptoms of psych/physiological disorders. i believe it may also help with issues such as OCD and Addictions and perhaps even Autism.

I use ketamine for my chronic pain condition. While it does 100% help, I always have a “bad trip.” It’s terrifying and I honestly hate it. But it does help.
@jeffbeckley88993 ай бұрын
I was having the same reaction you just discribed. So much so that I had problems scheduling my sessions. I changed my music. My experience did a 180. Now I enjoy my trips. I say trips because of how I perceive my experience. When I first started ketamine I didn't know what to expect. I had previous psychedelic experience way way back in the late seventies. Every use always caused extreme anxiety during the come up. That got so bad that I completely stopped my use. 45 years later I was introduced to ketamine. Not as a party drug. It was by prescription. My first experiences were rather light. I remember feeling light, happy, young. At some point my dosage increased to levels that could be considered a "hole" During each peak of my session I remembered feeling lost, trapped, out of mental control. There were certain parts that I enjoyed. But I found that I was always trying to maintain just a bit of connection to my sane self. It was always a battle. I discounted the negative reaction because I felt it wasn't the perception but the medicines job of healing my pain. I got to a point that my struggle was not worth the anxiety. My pain was going away. My anxiety remained. I tried some alternative music. You could consider it psychedelic. Beats that involved trance. Groups like younger brother, symbolico, flooting grooves. Ambient vibes with down-tempo melody. Synthesized sounds that seem to connect to every cell in my brain. The change in the music style completely changed my perception. I was able to lean into the experience. I no longer feared the thought of my next session. It's been a long while since I do the high amount I did for pain. Once I got control of my pain I started a low dose protocol. I never got to place where I completely enjoyed the experience. I never looked foward to my next session but I didn't fear it.

I love how much info you put into this video and that the representation of the "addict" is not exaggerated for fearmongering reasons. The only part I feel is unrealistic is the one at the end where Sam talks about his addiction and everyone is so happy to help him overcome it and reintegrate him into normal life. I think a more realistic outcome would be that the school counselor calls the police, Sam gets punished for drug abuse, a big part of his family and friends leave him and he will have an unbelievably harder time reintegrating into society than he should. Stigmatization of drugs and drug users is a huge problem and it could have been addressed. But of course you cant fit everything into a single video.

Ketamine)and related substances) all have a NMDA-receptor blocking effect, but they have a tendency to affect monoamine uptake and opiod receptors, to various degree. I don't know what Emily is experiencing. I'm not amazed at it, and I don't know how efficient it actually is, but the older "antidepressants" are not very helpful. This is an absolutely glowing account of ketamine therapy that questions the objectivity of this video. The way it is presented ketamine use is a no-brainer and should almost always be used. The potentially serious negative side effects are minimized. This was informative and entertaining, which is always a great combo, but the account of Emily's therapy needs to be more objectively presented without all the cheerleading.

Did we watch the same video? The part with Emily always stressed the fact that all of this was under strict doctor supervision to control the doses and transition to more holistic forms of therapy. They also imply that it may not be for everyone since treatment depends on the individual. Right after that, they go into the negative side effects. So yeah, they talk about how things can go wrong.

I had 9 treatment shots of Ketamine at my local clinic that lasted for around 1 hour each. Most everything this video said Emily experienced, I did too. I have two major regrets 2 months out from my treatments. 1. I did not have a good councilor through the treatments that encouraged and helped me change my life while my brain was primed to do so. 2. I did not change my life at all, and still live alone with no real changes, despite feeling much much better for weeks after most of the treatments. I needed more help and support during the monumental change of attitude that ketamine temporarily provided me, to lift myself out of the ruts I had built in life, and I did not have it, and so I did not change and I live much the same as I did before. It was a real waste. Now I deal with much the same depression as I did before, due to not changing my life or circumstance while I had the energy and drive and change in perspective to do so.

At the end of March I cold turkeyed off all of my psych meds (4 or 5 of them) without medical supervision. It's now been almost 3 months and now I am starting to spiral again and it took me a while to "even out" but now things are getting bad again even though I still talk to my therapist every week. This seems like something to look into
@lisachiappetti60924 ай бұрын
Why did you go cold turkey????? I take something called luvoxamine for my mental health, and I went cold turkey because there was a problem getting my prescription refilled. I was fine for about a week and a half, then things got BAD. I was throwing up and really anxious, and it wasn't a fun time. I'm never doing that again if I can help it. Did you do it voluntarily or was it a situation like mine? Because honestly if it was voluntary, I can't imagine why you would go cold turkey.
@merveilleux74 ай бұрын
Why did you quit your meds without medical supervision? Drug withdrawal (including psych med withdrawal) can be dangerous, even deadly, depending on what you are taking. Some psych meds are necessary for some people, to live a better quality of life. There's no shame in it. Personally I don't think ketamine therapy is a good idea... even if being in a doctor-prescribed K-hole feels good, "ketamine bladder" is still a possible side effect. But you do what works for you. I hope you feel better.
