I'm curious as to what happens to the driver if he/she was genuinely was unaware that illegal items were planted in the cargo they were transporting. I've seen some documentaries of these incidents and these people end up becoming victims and prosecuted. My heart really goes out to them, living out their innocent lives behind bars.
@ShamantheJ2 жыл бұрын
Still kena
@nephel61582 жыл бұрын
Whilst it is really sad if the driver genuinely doesn't know, one has to expect that if they knew they were going to get scanned by an X-Ray, they should probably do a check just in case. Not saying it's their fault, the fault almost exclusively lies on the scum that hid the illegal goods, but the drivers could have honestly prevented it with more care. For example, if they notice their vehicle was tampered with but nothing was stolen, they have to suspect that something was planted instead. If someone other than them has ridden that vehicle before their drive, or they are receiving the vehicle from their company to drive, they need to check their vehicle thoroughly also. This would make things far safer. In Singapore, drivers hold most responsibility for incidents involving vehicles like accidents. This kind of thing should also fall under something a driver receiving a licensed vehicle to drive should check for.

You only have nightsticks against potentially dangerous smugglers bringing in contraband? I honestly believe that officers doing that type of work need to be armed with a pistol for their own protection. Unfortunately, from time to time border patrol officers anywhere in the world can find themselves in a potentially deadly situation where deadly force is justifiable. If I was a high ranking officer here, then I would definitely want the lower ranked officers under my command armed with firearms for their own protection in doing this type of work. In that line of work you never know what type of criminal you may find yourself up against! The last thing on earth that I would want to do as a higher ranked officer is bury an officer under my command who died in the line of duty, because they didn’t have effective protection against a dangerous criminal.
