Normals are where you find casuals of all skill levels and ranks don't reflect actual skill sometimes. You will find season one players that don't feel like sweating for the climb but want to experience the game.

Riot bans from ranked because common way to circumvent it is to just play on another account and just come back once the punishment is over. Now the way players circumvent this is either by griefing normals or by remaking with alternate accounts.(very likely gonna change to win normals)

Dota 2 has a low priority queue that only matches low behavior score players with other low behavior score players and you get jailed there until you get a certain number of wins so you can't just run it down. Riot is trying to do something like that but without the effort involved.

Being banned for 24 or 48 hours means you just take a 1-2 day break from league. Having to play 5 normal games means you have to spend at least 2 hours of punishment that you don't want to actually do. It's a more effective punishment especially since you can't skip it by just playing on a different account. If you want your account back you have to do it.

@@elohitman6026 The case is, trolls, toxicity, and griefers decrease to neglegible value in high elo. High elo cares about lp more than low elo. You need to grind the game for 50 games at least to winstreak your new account to high elo and even more games to even able to play ranked. Some people will grief others on purpose and open up mutiple account to grief. It cost nothing to create an account and average to 10 min to complete the turtorial. 2 day ban, switch account and continue.

@@beigaming8403 heavily depends on what you mean by "high elo". If you mean GM+ then yes it gets a bit more chill there. But the most toxic elos by far are d4 and low masters. People with massive egos running around being shit at the game and griefing. Also you do know you have to be lv 30 to play ranked right? So you either buy another account which will get way harder/ expensive in the future with the new anti cheat or you have to grind around 200 normals to even be able to play ranked. Playing 5 games is waaaaay quicker than a 48 hour ban and has a negative impact on the rest of the community. And a bad impact on the community is what you are punishing ppl for.....

I purely play normals and I can tell you it is the worst experience. As a person with a level 400+ account I sometimes find myself match with people below level 30. I genuinely thought normals had some form of ranking system but if it does it's definitely not working.

Each Normals has its own MMR. The problem with a new account or one where someone doesn't play normals is the Normals MMR starts very low. IE I play ARAM pretty exclusively these days and when I did play normals I played Draft Pick. If I accidently load into Quickplay (why doesn't Riot Client remember the last game mode?) my MMR is very low since I never play it except by accident. Smurf detection is pretty good but anyone who want to smurf just plays on a new account since Riots assumption is people care about their accounts. But smurfers don't care because it's easy to buy level 30 accounts for a couple of bucks because of third party bots leveling accounts by playing bots..

a better option than a ban for riot, would be to hit the LP harder. If you have been reported for inting, and have a horrible ratio game then you receive a hit to LP. You might drop rank but dropping from GM to high master is much better than pitting a Master/GM/Challenger against iron players for 5 games. The ranked junkies will cry over the lost LP, and will learn their lesson.

I created a new account and played normals. At level 25 with avg scores of 18/2 throughout the levelling process I was playing with 2 bronzie and 2 gold players against 4 diamonds and 1 emerald. The next game my queue took 35 minutes so the next game I had to find some low elo players to team up with so I can at least find a game. I think something changes at level 25.

It Is not stupid at all. It Is supposed to be a punishment. If u Ban the account from playing ranked for, lets say 48hours, the player Just goes to another account and plays nevertheless. If u force him to play normal games, He cant dodge the punishment, even if He goes to play on another account, He still has to play these normal games in order to play ranked. There is literally no punishment with time bans in this game since smurfing is allowed. It incentivises the player to continue doing whatever toxic behaviour He was partaking in.

A time ban from ranked isn't better. People will just go smurf in low elo. So instead of ruining the game for normal game low elo players. You ruin it for low elo ranked players. Either or, it's just bad.

Honestly this is why I hate league, I am a casual player, I only play for fun, I don't give a shit about ranked and climbing, I like the system of the game though and thats why I play normals. For some stupid reason I get games like this sometimes, where there is a diamond or whatever that is smurfing on everybody, just casually ruining the games, killing the fun and wasting the time of everybody. It is not a good way to punish people, not sure if its always people that got punished, but god damn, once I had two master players in the enemy team when I usually play against everything up to plat. People probably think, yeah its "just a normal game" who gives a f'ck?" but they can't even seem to balance the queue of the competitive game mode that everyone will play first when they first start the game, this is not a "who gives a f'ck" kind of situation, this should be fixed, I know they are working on the ranked matchmaking, and I do hope that they contemplate working on this as well.
