Dude, One trucker to another, I work for ALDOT. Please, do not go searching for your tire parts on a dark strech of interstate like you did here. TNDOT has crews that come out and clear rubber from the interstate during the day with all kinds of strobes. I would rather see someones vehicle get damaged then see you get hit by a 70 to 80 mph bullet, besides thats what people pay for road hazard coverage for. Much respect, I love your content. Be safe out there brother.

Yep it’s 10 from truck, 100 from truck then 100 from triangle. Also, one dude is correct, furthest one out goes to inside of shoulder. Middle one goes middle of shoulder and closest one to truck goes on or near rumble strip. That’s to help guide people to move around you.

The Distancing on the Triangles look good, but you put all 3 down on the Rumble Strips. You're actually supposed to stagger them out to where they lead traffic away from the truck. (The farthest triangle from the truck should be closer to the end of the shoulder, the next triangle center with the truck, and the closest triangle near the rumble strip or the driver side of the truck behind the trailer).

YOU GOT IT Dave, I've blown a steer tire on a dump truck loaded with 20 tons of stone. Just remember, "REMAIN CALM", I had oncoming traffic on the left side, and a drop off into the lake on the other side - NO PLACE to go, and a 3 ft wide shoulder. Just let off the throttle, pump the brakes occasionally, and hang on the steering wheel. You will be fine, and will come to a SAFE stop eventually. Sure lots of smoke and noise from the tire hitting that front fender, lots of brake smoke, all ended well. Fenders are replaceable, people are not.

Let me tell you how I would have handled this. If the tire wasn’t blown and you just lost the Cap. Look at your phone and see how far away a truck stop is that fixes Tires. Loves, T/A etc. If its not far I would have rolled onto the truck stop and got it fixed there instead of sitting on the side of the Road putting myself in jeopardy of being hit. Even if the Tire was blown and not sitting on the Rim you can still drive to a truck stop and get it fixed. Ive been driving for 25 years and I will do everything I can not to sit on the side of the road waiting sometimes many hours for someone to come and fix it when I could have just rolled on it 20 miles to a tire shop.

A little advice dave! If there is no damage to the mud flap or nothing jamed up to keep you from moving you can ease down the road st about 50 mph or so with your 4 ways on and try to get to a truck stop or possibly your delivery spot in dtead of sitting there for hours on the side pf the road Done that many times in my 43 year career and made it to my delivery then called it in.

Unless it's a steer tire or a "super single", there's NO good reason to stop on the berm of the highway. There is an exit a few feet ahead of your truck in that picture you posted with the video. That ramp would be much safer for you, the tire man, and the motoring public in general. If you were the tire man and you have a left side tire that needs changing, would you want to work two feet away from 75 mph traffic whizzing by? And FMCSRs allow you to drive to a safer place if one is available.

Ive had 3 tires blow on chassis moving rail containers, & 1 time my air lines from the couplings came out. Now the airlines idk wtf did it but driving though the NY i guess the bumbs in the road over time started to unhook my lines! Im in the middle of the lanes & i hear a metal cling, air then trailer brakes slam on! I obviously couldn't just stop in the middle of the 3 lane narrow hwy so I slammed my foot to the floor & dragged that bitch to the narrow shoulder to see my air lines just flipped themselves off. Never seen that happen b4 & didn't understand how tf it happened since its not like the lines were loose. So i grabbed some zip ties & seals & jury rigged some crazy pull down contraption & if I didnt do that it would've happened again once entering NJ again! To this day never seen something like that happen again but it really pissed me off. For tires usually just hear what would sound like a .50 cal if your windows are down & just a gun shot close range if they up. Its not really scary but will immediately pull attention to the direction of the sound. It is scary when another trailer you're behind tire goes 😂 ive jumped b4 as a guy lost his tire as we made a left turn from a light. It happens just put on 4ways & get onto the shoulder call road side to fix it & get paid to sit & wait 😂. 1 time had a inner rear dual blow but the rubber stayed out flinging around the rim, had to limp for a few dozen miles going 50mph since I was literally getting off on the next exit & my drop was 2 or 3 miles off that exit but also my job said I had to get off the hwy for w.e reason. Got out to check it & rubber basically turns into a sledgehammer beating tf out the bumper back there & had it bent & hanging off.

I had a tire blow out on my buick century yes I know its not a cmv or trailer tire but when the tire blew out torn up the inside cowl plastic covering I was on the side of the road and I believe an off duty sherriff was driving buy and he was amazed I maintained control not flipped it but he was nice of enough to help clean the area up mostly puting the cowel from the inside of my wheel well.. but I was able to but the spare on and got everything fixed this happened a couple years ago.

Do not pick up any pieces in the roadway sir What's important is just to make it home safely to be with your family sir.

Smart moving as close as you could to the exit bc people taking the exit have to slow down to take it so that's even more safe good Job!

I’ll never forget the time I was passing a semi and one of his steers exploded while I was passing him. It sounded like a dang bomb went off it was so loud.

I would guess it get a bit bumpy for a bit :) I do follow Ron Pratt and he drives a tow truck and people have little respect and blow past him with very little margins doing 50+ We had a gravel truck blow a steer tire on the highway here in Sweden and he did go from the right lane into the left and hit the center barrier and flipped, i passed a few hours later and the truck was standing there and the cab was a mess, newspaper said no injuries but i doubt that is correct, but hope for the best.
