I think we are tired of the perpetrators (the ones wanting to murder babies) being portrayed as victims. I highly doubt most of these kids are being abused, they are getting just punishment for behaving stupidly, if you're old enough to have sex deal with the consequences pro life is the kindest option if you're old enough to have sex deal with the consequences for the choice you made! Pro choice is so selfish because you lack accountability for the choice you made.

fr, even if it was consensual, sometimes 15 year olds do dumb things, and make mistakes. Sometimes they didn’t have the information they needed to make the right choices, sometimes they just *make mistakes* . If you genuinely think that it is fair and just to submit someone that young to the absolute torture of carrying and giving birth to a child they don’t want and can’t support because they’re *15* you might need to reflect on some of your beliefs and priorities mate

In the US we tend to regard people as property until they turn 18. Remember: the most common surgery in the country is removal 1/3 of a baby’s penis skin because the parents want it that way.

If parents aren’t actively endangering the life of their kid (or using illegal drugs), they almost certainly will keep them and the legal rights associated with that.

In a perfect world, we can trust and rely on our parents for support and love and guidance. But this is not a perfect world and people sometimes forget that not all parents _should be parents._ I would HATE for my child to get something as serious as an abortion without my knowledge, but i can see why it's necessary to hide that information from some parents. It's those parents that are the type to *beat their child half to death* for something like this.

Parents should not have to weigh in about an abortion. I get the kid is underage, but it's contradictory for the state to say that a child is not old enough to make a medical decision for themselves but is responsible enough to take parental responsibility for a child.

The comments in here make me pretty conflicted. Because I get where it is all coming from, but like, at 15 you are fully your own person. Not yet an adult, but no longer a helpless child. Also, depending on the home situation there are so many things that you wouldn't want to, or wouldn't be able to tell your parents because it is unsafe. I hear a lot of stuff about parents rights and the like, but what about the childs rights? Why do those seem to matter less? I get that you'd want to know. So foster a relationship where they would tell you.

Exactly! When I (as a non-pregnant 20 year old) brought up this political issue to my parents, their first reaction was that they would want to know. I pointed out that I would likely have involved them, because we had a good relationship and I felt supported by them; other kids who did not involve their parents might have very good reasons. My parents saw the logic and changed their view.

How do you know the fetus doesn’t feel pain? There are videos of actual abortions where it is very clear the baby is suffering. The only thing, I might, disagree with pro-lifers is in the case of the baby having multiple congenital anomalies. Pro-lifers are not terrible people. There are good people and bad people on both sides.

@@VDotBlank mugwort could cause nervous system damage but is safer than vitamin E. Of course if the child is doing this with no supervision they could end up in the hospital so I don't recommend telling children how to do this. We don't know what dose is safe for a teen.

I can't imagine a teen in highschool is going to think "Well but an abortion is painful" when they realize studying itself is harder

@@JesusChrist-sm4bm in itself yes, but making the conscious decision to end a pregnancy might trigger guilt later There is this discussion at what point a pregnancy becomes a life I'm NOT from the US Here abortion is legal until a certain point generally And after that point still legal for a vast number of medics reasons There is no perfect solution for how to deal with abortions but I think the way here is about as perfect as it gets But considering how some women react to losing a pregnancy they didn't even want in the first place It's not out of the question that they'll get mental problems later for making that decision especially when they are young I'm not saying they should But the potential is there So while strictly physically an abortion early in pregnancy is much easier on the body I fear for those who make this decision based on fear of their parents and their youth

Even if the pregnancy is a result of the father raping the girl? Even if the girl knows her parents will beat her or kick her out for getting pregnant? If you want your child to come to you with these things, be an open and supportive parent. That won't guarantee they come to you, but it is far better than requiring an abused 13-year-old to carry a pregnancy her body is not capable of.

This child is 15. They cannot consent. We say this about the action that made them pregnant, so why would we not say that about the action that takes pregnancy away. As a parent I am put here to protect my child. I need to know if they are having ANY procedures to keep them safe. And i would want to know the person that got them pregnant to make sure its a minor! I know this is a made up scenario but its a parent's worst nightmare to think their child could be engaging in risky behavior behind closed doors. EDIT: I really appreciate the professional and understanding discourse in these replies! I know my opinion is not a very popular one on this channel's following, but I'm thankful no one has been rude or even dismissive. I'm glad we can talk this out and learn from eachother. Many good points have been brought to my attention and I have tried to reply to the best of my knowledge. I noted the age of consent in different states was brought up a few times. Though I'm probably on a watch list now I did educate myself on this. No state has an age of consent under 16. Hope that answered that question. As for the other answers I don't want to make my comment a book so please look into my replies so far. Thank you all and I hope to reply to any new points brought to my attention. Be well :)

In most states, the MEDICAL age of consent is 13. A 15 year old should be allowed this decision.

@@TheChaoticGoodLucifer this has gone beyond medical and has gone into a sexual health issue an issue that legally this CHILD should not be in. Also most times in sexual activity doctors are mandatory reporters for minors. I'm not particularly sure I agree with 13 being an appropriate age for medical consent either. If my child is afraid of needles should they be able to refuse vaccines they need to attend school?

@@Kandy96 I agree they are on different levels. I respect your consistency in your beliefs. I would like to make it a point that I am not directing parents to disallow this procedure. Regardless of the procedure happening or not I believe a responsible parent or guardian should be involved. This is a serious procedure known to have physical and mental side effects and someone who doesn't have a fully developed prefrontal cortex should not be alone during the recovery. I will leave my own religious beliefs out of this debate since my main concern is for the child carrying the child

I agree that abortion should be the right of an adult given certain circumstances like in India you're liable to get an abortion with a doctor's note if you're in the first trimester, in second trimester you'll require signature of atleast 2 medical professionals and in 3rd trimester that's too late, you're not allowed to get abortion at this late.

And that's when there's a fully formed already born human in need of life saving organ/ blood/ marrow. I’m pro-choice, but I think it’s pretty gross that a kid could do something like this without parental consent. Gross as in - I’m responsible for their wellbeing, but they could get a medical procedure without my knowledge or consent? What if something goes wrong? Who’s responsible then? Me, or the state that allowed the procedure? And where is the line drawn? This isn’t medically necessary, so can my 15 year old go and get a nose job without my consent?

This law is in place for more than just a botched procedure happening. Although that is my big fear too. Children cannot consent and this is also a sexual matter as much as it is a medical one. I would be concerned a predator is pushing my child to have an abortion behind my back to hide evidence.

@@TriAstrion Less than 1% of people getting abortions were assaulted most use it as a form of birth control instead of dealing with the consequences of their actions In those instances, i feel the utmost sympathy for the child but let's be honest that rarely happens so let's debate what's actually happening adults having consensual sex that can't handle the fact that they have to be held accountable so they instead choose to murder

A fetus is equal to a plant , if eating plants isn't murder neither is abortion Also if a person is a victim of rape then they 100% should have the right to not be forced to carry the child of their rapist considering how painful childbirth is it would be a punishment to the victim that already has enough truama

@@TheDiabeticDivano, it didn’t, but slut-shaming women is not the way to go here. If the school system taught sex ed, maybe girls would understand how to use contraceptives. Maybe if contraceptives were more accessible. Or maybe, hey, if someone taught women that they’re allowed to say no. You don’t get to tell anyone what to do with their body. If two, consenting people of legal age or both above the age of consent but still minors want to have sex, they’re allowed to do that. You have no right to tell them not to. Abortion isn’t murder anyways, so please stop telling other people what to do with their bodies.
