I've been having a really fun time picking Saracens, playing like I'm going meta 1 range but adding a market right away in case I want to pivot and market abuse/cheese. There's so much flexibility and ability to pivot into all-in buy food for Scouts, Tati Rush, FC, Phosphoru Mamelukes, cav archers, old school smush, etc etc. I think all the cheesing is ironically making me better at the game because of all the different build orders and flexibility options lol

Cheesing definitely made me better initially as i learnt to be more aggressive and to adapt. I just don’t play much anymore so my elo plummeted when i started playing meta

@@MorleyGames1 I was an Age of Kings player so I simultaneously have a ton of experience in the game but then also I'm super thrown off by new stuff and balance changes. Cheesing helps me because it gives me a plan when I don't know what to do against a "new" civ 11

I want to see more of this content - win or lose. I'm also trying to go from the Morley rush with Mongols to more meta plays.

Yeah the burnt out is a common theme. You have been working for years on aoe2 so it's no wonder. Have you tried play custom lobby game ? I 1 vs 3'ed with my newbie friends and had a blast from their messy build . I think that could help with the burnt out. Rank ladders required some degree of meta builds and and it's getting stale imho.

Yeah i get aoe burn out at least once a year lol. Yes i agree it is very stale. I occasionally play team games now with friends which is why i’m trying to get the basics right again
