3:30 When I was like 11/12, my father and I were putting grommets in to some shade cloth for our deck. At some stage he didn't like how I was doing it, so he took the hammer off me and said "this is how hard you need to hit it" and hit his thumb square on and it instantly turned purple. We had a good laugh about it for the rest of the project.

That is totally slick!! That'll save your arm, for sure. I'll bet Arrowquip uses part of this video as promo. They make great equipment, and I wish we'd had gear like that back when I was growing up out on the place east of the Gap. The work back then was brutal. You guys work your butts off, but messin' with horses and stretchin' calves out on the ground was so primitive compared to today. I'd love to hear some Brian stories about how it used to be done. That would take quite a few of us down memory lane ;-) Lovin' every video you put out, Cole. Thank you!
@asquithmainlines6994 жыл бұрын
Cole, we all know you don’t like roast. Instead of banding why don’t you castrate so you can try a Western Canadian delicacy... Prairie Oysters. My parents were at an Elks convention in Swift Current many years ago and that is what the caterer served for lunch. That took a lot of balls on the caterer’s part.

When I was a kid we were running 3000 head in a feedlot. Our chute was homemade wooden with a rope for the head and another for the squeez . I remember running 500 in a day. A hydraulic chute would have been nice. Some of the better rejects maybe good club calves for 4H or FFA.

Have you found that banding the bull calves leads to better healing than using a surgical approach? Great 👍 to see the Arrowquip chute in use. I suggest that you cover the ends of the hydraulic hoses to prevent insects 🕷 using them as a nest!

We use the Callicrate Bander as well. We also use the two person method of starting out tightening the band. I thought we were the only ones who did that. We just switched to the new bander with the no slip clip and built in cutter. I like it much better than the old style. The only drawback is if you are banding wild cattle and they jump in the chute. I had a couple hit the cutter before I was ready. A $3 band wasted.
