I've been buying from pawn shops since I was 13 years old. My peers at that time looked down on me for it as well as some adults, because they used to only have the reputation of where losers bought and pawned items, not successful people. Michael is somewhat correct about customs, but you can register your watch with US Customs with its serial number before you leave the USA, so when you come back in the country they know you purchased it in the USA and not overseas.

Last year gold and beyond said they can buy my explorer ii polar for $4000 because thats how much “gray market wholesale” value is. For travelling internationally: have some pictures on your phone that proves that the watch was bought in your country. To not bring the papers or boxes or several watches (because if there is the slightest doubt you may sell them, they will make you pay import taxes and a fine because you have not declared them). Beware of watches with exotic animal straps as it may be removed and seized. Be aware that travelling within Europe, you are changing countries (different import taxes and regulations).
