It’s REALLY useful if you do the 100 Baby Challenge. Parenting skill should be prioritised above everything else because once you have that Super Efficient Baby/Infant Care interaction, so much time is saved!

The "Give Parenting Advice" interaction actually gives the target some parenting skill. Grandma/Mom sims can basically pass their skill down to their adult descendants if you spam it.

Small tip for the character values; if a kid does that raises a value, you can pause the game and stack the 'Enourage' interaction, which helps boost it a lot. I recommend getting empathy up with 'teach how to say sorry' before they turn into a teen, cus that interaction then disappears and it becomes way harder to raise. It might be fun to try and have one kid completely in the green with another in the red

Here's the thing, parenting is only one part of why the kid keeps making a mess. Kids will do stuff like that no matter how much you parent them if they have low skill levels. I forget which one affects that but it's also the same one that stops toddlers from splashing in toilet. Also you won't get mood buffs if you have a bad relationship with your kid. Which you will if you constantly punish/yell at them or force them to do things. I'd recommend you make them close and be very affectionate if you want mood buffs from being around the child

"cheer up parent" can be done when there's negative moodlets for stinky diapers, infant crying, if a parebt is feeling guilty for being strict, or sad because one of their kids/fanily members are sad and they have 'shared sadness'

I raised a couple of kids irl, and I like the realism of how kids respond to different punishments. In game I mostly let the parenting skill raise itself, but I do focus on a family aspiration. I just always chose Firm, so I don't really have to think about it. Guess you can tell my legacies tend to die out.
@rosetheresa6168 Жыл бұрын
Before level 6 you (the player) has to guess what the baby needs. Afterwards, if the sim finds out what the baby needs, it will show the player in the speech bubble Also i forgot to comment on the video game one but "make fun of noobs" is a friendly interaction between another sim and "impress with video game" is a flirty interaction edit full parent mode is achieved after MULTIPLE parenting interactions in a row, i got my sim to do it with her teens by influencing them and alternating between the two teens but i think its easier with younger kids
@sim771 Жыл бұрын
I had twin infants and two of my sims died trying to care for them, that’s how intense and difficult they are to play with. They weren’t useless fresh from cas sims either, one was grandma and the other their mother. It takes an army to keep them alive. One of the twins has twins now and I have 4 adult sims on standby to take care of them so I can keep everyone alive and happy. Higher level parenting skills means they do less useless interactions for the babies. I’ve noticed that my sims will let their needs decay to check on the infants, which is how they ended up dying the first time. Solution, don’t let you sims idly take care of infants cause they will die

I always play with families and the Parenting Skill is one skill that is somewhat hard to avoid. When I first start a game, I start with my "default" save file and just make it a new game - I then have premade married sims who are pregnant. This way my new sim can meet them while that sim is pregnant and then be invited over to meet the newborn. I usually go around a few times, meeting newborn sims to build my Parenting Skill faster before my sim even has a boyfriend let alone a family! This helps for many reasons. Friendships with other children so I can introduce them to my sims child when they are older - and also Toddler Play Dates! You can see what the newborn wants by clicking on the baby cradle. You'll see a speech bubble for each one. Baby Bottle to feed, diaper to change diaper and a heart for attention.

IRL learning good parenting is a lot of bothersome, boring work. It's so much easier to ignore issues. Or if the kids behavior is too annoying, the first response is too often to become angry. BUT it is the MOST impactful and important skill that parents can learn. And kids need discipline to get along well in life. I'm a mom of three and grandmother of eight. There is good news tho. Just like in Sims 4, if you learn it early and teach the first child, the others are so much easier to deal with. The older one will make sure the younger ones don't get away with things they weren't allowed to and because of your experience it becomes second nature... I loved this video!

as a family simmer, who lives for the 100 baby challenge, the parenting skill is the best and worst enemy of a parental unit. its great for tods and infants and babies. its rough for children and teens, but overall, its pretty good. i like it. i like alot of aspects of the pack overall, but as a whole, its kinda lame i agree. i love the curfew option, it keeps responsible kids from going outside and playing after the curfew etx, yet if they do, it lowers their responsible trait. it adds traits which do in fact make them better adult and teen sims. before it was, get them aged up and out, now its get all these other things leveled up and actually teach them manners etc. they tend to be less assholey when you release them on the world lol. but again, i have towns that are like 50 percent my decendants or relatives , so maybe they are nicer to my sim because of the relation aspect. not sure but, its cool
