@TheActionLab8 жыл бұрын
+ueger yonic the lower the pressure the less heat is needed to boil the liquid. If you get the pressure low enough then just room temperature has enough heat to boil the liquid.
@tristanbowman10688 жыл бұрын
Thank you!
@theX24968Z8 жыл бұрын
boiling point is related to something called vapor pressure (you learn about this in chemistry class), which after what +Hydraulic Press Action said (right above me), means that at higher altitudes, and lower pressures, boiling points are lowered (which can actually affect things like cooking in some ways in those places.) Typical boiling/melting points are based on 1 atm, or 1 (standard) atmospheric pressure.
@dieselyeti8 жыл бұрын
Ok, but why didn't they cook?
@elyesgrati8 жыл бұрын
this boiling is just releasing gases from the egg because there is no pressure to keep it in the egg and there is no heat generated

It is simply because of low pressure.for example we know that water boils at 100 C at 1atm pressure but if I increase the pressure the water won't boil at 100 C and instead boiling temperature increases. So we can say that Bolling of a pure substance depends on both temperature and pressure.In the same way if we decrease the pressure it boils at low temperatures. If you want to know more; refer pure substances in thermodynamics from standard books.

@mutodaes7 жыл бұрын

@insulman1007 жыл бұрын
everybody but metafis is wrong The stronger the vacuum the faster water evaporates if he would have held a strong vacuum (26 inches of hg or better) long enough all of moisture would've evaporated from the chamber
@derryckgray7 жыл бұрын
A liquid boils when vapor pressure of liquid= atmospheric pressure. So, you can get a liquid to boil by (1) heating it to increase the vapor pressure to match the atmospheric pressure, or (2) decrease the atmospheric pressure like he is doing in the video. The eggs have not actually changed temperature.
@Gphdwre6 жыл бұрын
In all your videos where you put matter under hydraulic pressure system, please reveal the magnitude at which they break. Thanks. Also requesting to know (1). Will water vaporise in vacuum and hence becomes cooler? (2). How oil behaves in vacuum. Does it boil as well?

*Action Lab* is right. In chemistry "boiling" does not equal "hot." It just means that the _vapor pressure_ of the liquid (the egg mixture) is equal to the _atmospheric pressure_ (in the chamber). The common way to do this is to add heat, thereby increasing the vapor pressure of the liquid. But another way is to lower the atmospheric pressure. This is why water boils faster in higher altitudes. When the atmospheric pressure decreased, the gases in the egg mixture could escaped the liquid, without a change in temperature. If you put your hand in it, it would feel like room temperature.

yes they would be ok, if you just leave them under vacuum long tho they will keep losing water and getting drier.
