Pretty sure that if there's a well placed enough small island it's actually efficient to spawn there. If you can boat out to 4-5 locations right away the increased surface area should allow you to expand faster than normal if you are good enough at attacking bots.

territorial should have an achievement tab. One of the achievements should be: spawn on an island and win in a match against at least 10, 25, 50 people. Achievement name: Bad spawn FTW.

Don't count on this dev doing something worthwhile with this game. While he pumped up ads to be after every match now, have we seen any improvements? Nope. Still nearly every game you get a racist or bigot type name, because a report option apparently wouldn't decrease toxicity in the game. Lol.

If they can boat to you, you share borders with them. Water in this game is valuable but also opens you up to lots of vulnerabilities. Get used to knowing what pixels can boat to where and always be aware of how big someone is when they have boat capability. Don't be too much smaller than them.

I tried to see if i could play when starting on some island in the American Pacific. Turns out, you can’t reach anywhere else from there with 150 troops, so you are just stuck

The mechanics of this game really don't do coastal thalassocratic powers justice. In the real world access to ocean is one of those things that is super important for a great power. In this game it just effectively walls off further expansion.

I don't think it matters at all. The only thing that matters in your start is the number on the bots you're clicking on. Claiming free territory doesn't have that decision making, what you do doesn't matter, only the number of pixels you claim and the time it takes is what matters. Boating across a lake right off the bat is also a great way to fling yourself around the map and be touching a lot of bots, sure you'll eat more attacks but you can also take advantage of a lot more 0's.

ultimately like 80% of this game is what the people around you do. There was no real reason for the people in that first match to all be going after him, for example, but they did.

First time seeing your videos. So I say this with that in mind. You attack way too hard early on going for free territory. Extra territory is obviously good, but not at the cost of not being able to defend it. I see this all the time. People will be 3x my size with 1/6 the troops and I jump on em. You got lucky in a lot of these that people didn't jump on you.

Starting on an island is hard. Easier it's to start in Australia or South Africa as example. By the way, have you (all) tried the game "Age Of Conflict"? It's a very similar game with some nice differences. I recommend it to try out, if you like Territorial.
