today we take a look at the absolute shambles of a game DreamWorld. its been 2 weeks since the alpha released, that means 2 weekly updates. with a self-claimed 80 hour work week being the norm, surely there's something to show for it... right? #dreamworld #scammo

This looks like my private UED project, i get the same graphical looks (Although i getting way better FPS then that), and have about the same development time. Only difference, i started last week using UED for the first time, and i actually have no utter idear what i'm doing, and figuring things out takes hours if not days, and glad i just saw how to make speedy roads and a pivoting door, THNX for the tutorial, saves alot of time actually searching for such tutorials. Whole Dreamworld feels to me as a utter n00b learning project to UED, like mine, but they sold as a game, as to anyone elses that never will be put to public, nor leaves said persons computer, as its just that, a practice project to learn

As a dev it's so funny to me, because at this point in the project there should be thousands of low-hanging fruit, you have no users to harm by just slapping fixes on everything, and all the code is fresh in your mind - your patch notes should be like 20 minor things a day. Unless of course, you've copy and pasted millions of lines and don't understand any of them

The lack of effort put into the game is extremely odd, even for a scam. It's almost as if they have no interest whatsoever in gaming or game development, and can't even be bothered to follow a couple KZbin tutorials. I'm not even a game developer, nor ever plan to be, yet I still watch tutorials because I have a general interest in gaming.

Imo they never planned to release a full game. Hence the loophole about not having to deliver a full game, just an alpha to backers. Now the medie attention got so big, they have to deliver cause their faces are all over the internet, no chance to just slink away with the money. But maybe that's all just suspicion. Maybe they ARE that stupid. Who knows 🤷

Hey, I really appreciate you showing off making the door and sidewalk like that. People like me can look at what Dreamworld is showing off and think "um, that SEEMS really strange to need to spend so much time on..." But it's breakdowns like this that really help put things into perspective and spread knowledge. I think part of the reason these types of devs can con so many people is the amount of us who really have little to no understanding of what it takes to make the final product. Anyway can't wait to see you fully recreate the Kingdoms of Elyria alpha in 10 minutes lol. Thanks for sharing this.

They have no experience with Unreal, the entire DreamWorld looks like a weekend project from a first-semester undergrad student. It's like one of those people that want to try game development for the first time but don't want to start simple and build upon it, they want an MMO as a first project, the most challenging type of game to develop, right now they are glueing assets on the go and hoping people eat them and shut the fuck up.
