I JUST realized the reason why you think his name is trace xD So in the 4Kids dubbed they actually changed his name from Portgaz D. Ace to Portgaz D. Trace, no idea why. Welcome to the fandom! Love how you noticed so much that happened in each opening. And when you watch the anime a little warning some things aren't covered in the anime that are in the manga, like the cover stories which are little stories happening among the chapter title art splashes, they mostly show how background Characters move about the one piece world so you aren't stupidest when someone from 200 chapters ago suddenly shows up to the island the straw hats are on , there's also some bonus info in the SPS bits which are basically Q&A's where Oda answers questions or adds some extra background info. You don't need this stuff to enjoy the show but they answer smaller questions you might have on side events and characters.
