Good to see a KZbin channel actually making a decision based on cost/value. Getting to the finish line in a manner you personally desire is ultimately what matters. We can all relate.

Very nice. Last year I bought a 2000 RAM 3500 dually (113000 miles) with a 2000 Lance 1130 because it fit my wallet ($16k total). The camper is old and has a few issues. I am old (73) and I have a few issues so we get along very well together. If you ever up in Southern Virginia I have a full overnight site for you.

Hi Carla and Todd! As you may remember, I retired 3 years ago. Part of my early retirement meant no new toys until we turn 62 (this Fall) and start early social security. We still love our Casita and plan to camp in it for at least four more seasons purchasing a new truck at the end of this year. We talk about an Oliver, Escape, or a Safari Condo Alto 21 or 24, but our 2005 Casita will still take us to any campground that any other camper will take us. Always nice to have goals, plans, and strategy. Congratulations on the new to you 1172 and hope to see you again soon at some point.

Hey Dean, thanks for saying hello. It’s fun to think about getting a new camper. I’m sure you’ll make the right choice you’re looking at good options. Not that you’re asking, but I would recommend getting a camper with a dry bath. It makes a big difference and I promise you won’t be sorry if you do. Just something to think about. Maybe we’ll see you soon at one of the rallies. Thanks for watching our video!

Good move thinking about cost and preparing financially for retirement. A dollar saved is a dollar earned. I retired last Thursday after 43 years in construction management. Great career but happy it’s over. Invest more than you think you can because you’ll be sick of working by your late 50’s. I enjoy your channel, the how to episodes and your compatability. Keep up the great work!

Congrats on the Lance! I was shocked that you got rid of your 2020,,,,totally understand the reasoning though! I'm looking at a 2014 Lance 1172 & a 2013 Lance 1181. The older age is why. This way, I can modify it & make it my own. Truly, I want to thank you for sharing all of your truck camper & truck reviews! Your input has greatly helped me w/my research.

Another thing I really like about the older Lance 1172's is, the ladder is over on the driver side and that window is still there too! On the newer model 1172's some of them don't have that side window & they moved the ladder over onto the rear slide. Personally, I don't like the ladder being on the slide.

The problem I have with the lance is no access on the road. Meaning while you’re traveling if you’re stopping in a truckstop, rest area or parking lot overnight you can’t use the camper because of the slides, unless of course you’re one of those rude people that extends their slides in one of those locations… that’s what gets Campers RVs, etc. band from these locations.

Bought my 17RB Bigfoot trailer 24 years ago for $16k, and my Bigfoot 8.2 1500 short box TC three years ago for $6k. Both had one previous owner and are mid 90’s era. Keeping both. 😂 I get the dry bath appeal, but the wet bath is far easier to clean IMO. I just watched an older video where you weigh your rig, so now I’m contemplating the best truck option for the TC. Respect the decision to put cash back in the bank!

I have to agree with you 100%. We love our 2023 10-2 also, but the price is definitely steep on them. We have been full timer in ours for the past 3 months this winter in Key West, and we are amazed with it. I looked at the lances at the Tampa show and they are great campers also. I love the room in the Lance with the slides. The good thing about the NLis that they hold there value so well. You should be able to break even or possibly make a small profit from the sale of it.

Very cool! The northern light is a premium camper but I agree that it is hard to justify the cost if not retired and/or full timing it. Your new (to you) Lance is super cool. When the time comes it would be fun to hear your perspectives on the f450 flat bed compared to the f350 7.3. It seems like a battle of comfort vs utility. For weekend camping, is it worth having the flat bed with additional storage and payload vs lower insurance cost and comfort of the f350? I’m sure there are other considerations as well. Keep up the great work!

If you'd watched the video, you would have seen that we owned a 2020 Lance 1172, when we sold it we had intentions of getting one that was much cheaper so we could put money in the bank. Right when we were selling it, the opportunity arose for us to try a brand new 2023 Northern Lite 10-2 Dry Bath and we couldn't pass it up since it was located so close to us. We decided to try it, knowing we'd probably sell it eventually so we could put money in the bank which was our original goal to begin with. It's fun to try new things, if you get the opportunity you should do it sometime, and we now can say we did it. Which brings us to the present, we have decided to spend less than 1/2 of what our 2020 Lance 1172 cost us on this 2015 Lance 1172 and put some money in the bank. $$$$$$ We don't expect anyone to understand why we did it because it's our life and it's only important for us to understand. Thanks for watching! Oh, and commenting too.

Nice Unit, I like those Lances. But I just can't wrap my head around the appeal of a Truck Bed Camper. An F-450 with a 25-30" bumper pull, you wouldn't even know it's behind you. So much less set-up and unloading at the campsite, and probably 1/3 the price based on the huge Truck Bed Camper price premium.
@wallylama31
@wallylama31 10 ай бұрын
Truck camper appeal- no registration (most states), shorter length, usually better build quality, no extra wheel, tire, axle maintenance, smaller storage, and loading and unloading doesn’t take that long once you get it down. Truck campers are for closers 😂

I didn’t know NL changed to crappy anode rod suburban water heater 🫤. I got a 2022 10-2 n was ecstatic it has the dometic/atwood aluminum tank. So much less maintenance as I’ve had both. Also NL no longer has the 3 way fridge another huge deal for me as mine is. But NL is putting more watts on the roof now, 🫤 dang u can never get everything, they take-th n give-th in another way. You guys are like ADHD with truck campers lol. But I bet u enjoy swapping them out n it is fun seeing u do that. 🍻

Your taking a loss on this. Not sure why you bought it, if you weren’t keeping it. So, just another changing of underwear for you! No sympathies of money loss here. You really need to do some homework on these campers. I Spent 5 yrs to decide on a Host 10.5 Cascade, only to find after a 6 month research that users have issues modifying the recliners. I switched to the Yukon 11.6. The take of this is do research before you buy!

I got home from work one Saturday night, and my aunt and uncle were visiting. My uncle asked me how i liked the job. I told him i wasn't going to get rich. It was hard work, but fun. His reply stayed with me to this day. "What's the difference between rich and wealthy?" He asked. "I don't know, " I replied "Rich people have to show off their money. Wealthy people only have what they need. " Im retired at 57 because of that statement. New is nice. But why? Good for you for planning ahead. Life is short. Enjoy it.
