Growing up before I discovered I had an affinity for cats my family had dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds, and i helped others with cows chickens sheep etc. The big thing I had drummed into my head from an early age, anytime you clean up after an animal wash your hands. Since my house is foster homes for cats, i used to live with lots of cats (a dozen of cats at one time) for years since my junior high. They live indoor, never had this issue with toxoplasmosis. Coincidentally, about the time when i move out (like, 7 years after high school graduation), i worked at a pharmaceutical factory for a year. It was clean and everything but somehow there were some exposure to something in those factory, which results in me having corneal abrasion, conjuctivitis, blepharitis and those reduce my field of vision to 20% (not to mention the searing pain after waking up, light sensitivity, redness, discharge etc). Eye disease can greatly reduce your quality of life. So yeah, i would be more worried about other exposure than mere cats exposure

If your cat does not go out, it's not gonna be infected in the first place. Also infected cats only transmit the disease for brief period of time after being infected. It's much more likely to be infected by eating raw vegetables.

u dont need to be afraid... it literally rarely ever makes u sick.. in germany nearly everyone has this parasite... cuz we eat raw meat. just know: it can cause only issues if you get infected first while being pregnant or have horrible immune system issues (and even then its suuuuper rare that it makes you sick).

Dont let your cat outside home! Always wash your hands, and give cat propper medical help. If your cat is safe and without contact of outside and parasites you are fine. Make sure cat is fine too, and do not get rid of cat. A pet is family. There are solutions.

@@vonw.3294 you cannot get toxoplasmosis from scrathes...it's transmited in feces, so wash your hands after cleaning the litter boc. Also, the cat only sheds it for about week if infected, so chances are not that high

The theory is that these differences in personality are the effect of the infection, but could it not be the other way around? Could someone who is less risk-averse before infection simply be at a higher risk of infection? Until any studies are made that study subjects both before and after infection, someone proves a concrete link that is not just correlation or something else happens I'm not absolutely sure about the conclusion that the virus has these effects on personalities.
