Great content, my nosey be just passed away 2 weeks ago today and it really hurts, I just watched your Apollo tribute video and similar to mine it was very quick, one day he was fine next day gone, he didn’t even make it to the vets, I’m waiting for the results. Red incandescents and infrared heat is the worst heat for any reptile. Chameleons rely most of their sight and that can blind them

What uvb bulb would be fine to use for the duel dome light fixture for a 16x16x30 enclosure? I didn’t know if any of them would penetrate deep enough into the enclosure

You are correct. Instead you'll want a linear T5 5.0 or 6% UVB bulb and raise it up above the enclosure until you're able to get a 48" tall enclosure. www.neptunethechameleon.com/shopping-lists

The reason why you're finding different answers is because just like with any animal, it is dependent on the individual. Some chams will be bigger or smaller than others.

Is there a brand of white light bulb you recommend. Yes I am currently using incandescent bulbs but they are getting really hard to find. Live in the Phoenix Az area so in the summer time I run a 60 watt but in the winter I rarely run the heat so I run up to 100 watt. I am being forced to find another version outside of incandescent.

Hey Neptune! So I am just curious, my chameleon has been standing over his water bowl since his light went on, the light went on 2 hours earlier than normal by accident, could he be stressed? He is just staring straight and not moving.

I live in upstate ny so we are looking 90* during the day sometimes and more like 50*s at night n have a veiled chameleon and was thinking of maybe some night time heat for him but don’t wanna do a lamp I saw heat cable is it safe and how hot does it really get jw like thinking of maybe wrapping around his vine so there is a little heat coming off it during the night but is it safe for his feet and was thinking it help with humidity also with the watering because hitting the heat cable would make a mist if not hot enough n turns to steam

I would not recommend a heat cable since there would be a high risk for burns not to mention potential fire hazards. I'd suggest using a ceramic heat emitter which doesn't put off any light and is safe to use. Just wondering why not to measure the temperature of the Chameleon’s body when he is basking to ensure he is has the right temperature. I thought the temp gun measures surface temp which would suggest you’re not getting an accurate temperature when pointing it above the branch because it would be measuring the closest surface beyond the branch. Is there danger in pointing the gun at the chameleon away from the eyes, of course. I’d appreciate your advice on this. Love your channel💚. Thanks.

You can certainly do that, but it wouldn't be an accurate reading unless the chameleon had been basking for awhile.

We just got a panther male chameleon and I’m babysitting a female chameleon. They are about 3 months old. I noticed the female likes to lay on the basking branch a lot. Once I even thought she was dead. Not for hours but mostly in the mornings she will lay there. Her tail isn’t curled she looks kinda spread out or she’ll like hold on to the side on the branch. Is that normal?

Hard to say for certain without being able to see her, but it is common for them to relax under on their basking branch in the mornings.

Specifically for Panther chameleons: do the basking spot temps vary depending age or stay the same? For example: for a young, male Panther chameleon, will the basking temp be around 85 or should it be lower because he’s younger? Just double checking, thanks! ☺️

Depends on how young he is. Hatchlings don't need heat. 3 months or older would do great around 80-85F.

If you're able to save up a bit more, I'd recommend getting a Mistking misting system. They're my personal favorite and worth every penny. Is it normal for my female panther chameleon to not lay eggs? She’s 22 months old. She’s had multiple vet visits for other issues and the vet has confirmed that she isn’t producing eggs. After days of digging and laying an egg or 2 on top of the dirt. She found 2 different spots. She finished laying the remaining eggs and covered the holes. Then crawled back to her favorite spot. She got cleaned up with the misting session, ate and drank water. She looks much better and I was able to sleep. This was by far a painful but amazing experience. I didn't think she was going to make it. I thank you for responding to my question and helpful advice.
