My friend’s mom had cancer. One week, for a few days he didn’t come to school, and rumors were spreading that his mom had passed. One day he showed up to school. Me: “how was your weekend?” Him: “oh it sucked, I lost my Nintendo DS.” Me: “oh that’s too bad.” Him: “oh yeah and my mom died” I know it was probably his way of coping, but it caught me off guard.

The reasoning being because he has to kill someone in his past and both him and his family forever needs to be on guard anywhere they go. more recently at work a customer came in, and just casually mentions how she can kill a man with a tooth pick, and everywhere she goes she is always looking at objects that she could grab like pens or whatever for stabbing for self defense because her family and friends are all military and they basically trained her to always be prepared with her surroundings. assuming that the .22 pistol guy story is true, let me just say that this is exactly why you dont look down the barrel of a gun.
@JustinTK4164 жыл бұрын
Definitely, but as a guy who’s had a .22 pistol, I can say it’s totally possible, but also really sketchy. It’d have a jam a particular way. Usually you get failure to load or failure to eject type jams, which either leaves the incoming bullet positioned so it isn’t aligned with the firing chamber, or the spent shell of the prior round blocking the chamber, as it hasn’t been fully ejected. The most likely way for it to fire while clearing a jam is that it’s an acute failure to load (failures to eject are usually pretty obvious and easy to fix, even for a novice) that left the incoming round still normally fireable (.22 rounds tend to be pretty flimsy, and often wind up bent near the middle of the cartridge). Then while fidgeting with the firearm, the round loads, and either by an internal glitch or (more often) the novice handler still having their finger on the trigger, the firing pin engaged and shooting the round. Now double fires, while not a wholly uncommon phenomena, usually involve a hair trigger or some other modification to the weapon that affects the way it functions internally. What would be more likely with a regular .22 would be that, after the first round entered the man’s brain, his body convulsed, and having his finger near the trigger, his twitch caused him to fire the weapon again. But if he’s holding it facing himself with a finger near or on the trigger... well some people really don’t need to be handling guns. Like I think some of those firearm training classes cover some really “nah duh” common sense type stuff, but then I remember some people really don’t get that the super sonic lead thrower that can be activated by less than an inch of movement needs to be kept pointed away from people and anything you don’t wanna see perforated or dead. It’s like, yes, totally a legitimately possible story, but like, also would be a very convenient cover for murder.

@@jsims1617 I'm not here to fight but check out Matthew 5:43-48 (i'll include it below). Do not take the imprecatory Psalms out of context, that was during times of active war and much before Christ showed us the way (although the Psalms are led by the Holy Spirit). Even if they hurt us, we need to still love them, did Jesus not die for those who had betrayed him, send him to die, and cast lots on his clothes? Did he not die for us, who once were sinners but saw the light? Condoning someone to death for who they are or what they believe is never the solution, not will that ever be what the Lord wants or their life or ours; we cannot do the job that God has reserved for Himself with His righteous judgement. Here are the bible verses: “43 You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect."

I mean, when you live on a farm, you eat what you can -for lack of a better word- produce, be it vegetables, fruits, eggs or meat. It's not uncommon for kids to learn how to take care of the farm and also how to live off it, so they know what to do later on or if something happens. You learn to view life in a different way too, once something or someone is dead, you usually don't really care about what happens to the empty vessel, it's now garbage or your next coffee table centerpiece or your new belt or your next meal. It's pretty simple actually, though it may seem cruel to some.

I was a dumb kid in 1st grade that didn't know how the world worked. Was casually talking to one of my friends on the bus about the latest Lizzy McGuire episode that aired the night before and then turned to this kid who was a lot older than me out of nowhere, for no reason at all, and told him "If we could bring guns to school I'd shoot you." I wasn't a bad kid, never played an FPS in my life at that point, and never said something like this out of nowhere before either, and I've never shot a gun in my life of any sort at all before. I just said it for the sake of randomness. After that, I went to talking about the show and then we got to school and went about our day. About half way through the day, I get called into the principals office and there's a police officer sitting there with my mom, dad, principal, and the kid who I said I'd shoot. I didn't know why it was such a big deal because I was so young and naive at the time, but out of nowhere I just started crying and got sent home for the day. Weirdest part was that I wasn't grounded, and my only punishment from the school was being sent home early for the day. I never saw the guy on the bus again after that, and now that I think about it, I believe that also caused me to get banned from riding the bus until middle school so I had to start walking to and from school everyday, and I always thought it was because I felt the walks weren't that far so there was no need for a bus ride either.

@@moonflowergirl3206 I know this is super late, but if someone was serious about it and they got asked by someone who could prevent them from carrying it out asked them if they did say it, they would probably lie. There are SO many cases where it hasn't been taken seriously and the person meant it, so now schools and law enforcement are trying to take it seriously because unfortunately, school shootings and stuff do happen. It may seem ridiculous, but I'd rather them take it seriously and it turn out the person was just joking, then they dont take it seriously and do something and it turns out the person was serious and does it. My school had to expel a girl and basically ban her from setting foot on the property (as well as cancelled school for two days) because she made a hit list and was threatening to actually come to my school and kill the people on it, and I can still remember the fear that everyone felt for months afterwards. Stuff like that can't be taken lightly because there are people who WILL actually do it.

I was at an annual "friendsgiving" kind of event that usually pulled 30ish people. one of the people was Jeff, a guy who looked exactly like a grown up Ralphie from A Christmas Story; I think the adorable look threw me off, because I'd spent several friendsgivings around him and never noticed a particularly disturbing streak. this time, there was a dog in the house, and he spent the whole night harassing, bothering, and attempting to scare her. we had all been warned when coming to the party that the dog was already super neurotic around people, so I was trying my best to follow her around the party protecting her, always waiting for other people to say something about Jeff. nobody did. finally, when I had gotten fed up, I said "Jeff, leave the damn dog alone. it's not funny, she doesn't like it." still nobody chimed in, it's like nobody noticed how much he was genuinely upsetting this poor animal. it wasn't funny. he did leave her alone at last, and the party continued unimpeded for a few more hours. (I made sure to sequester her away in a bedroom.) so that night, after everybody was pretty drunk, I was sitting outside smoking a joint when Jeff comes out blazed, drunk, and having taken what sounded like a disturbingly high dose of magic mushrooms. It subdued him, it seemed, so I was just out there keeping an eye on him in case he passed out so he didn't crack his head. suddenly he starts telling me this story about how these Black guys picked on him in high school and how he always fantasized about murdering them. he told me this long drawn-out fantasy as though, by virtue of my also being white, I was just going to be like "oh cool". I felt insanely uncomfortable and was trying to figure out how I could leave when he started claiming he actually killed one of them. I have never excused myself from a table so fast - in that moment I was like "oh fuck, if he's telling me the truth and he remembers telling me this I'm gonna have to worry about my own safety..." I faked a phone call, left a me-shaped dust cloud on the patio, left the party, and told the host I wasn't going to be making it to any more if Jeff was around. (I did relay what he told me to several people close to him. No one seemed surprised...) I heard he doesn't come around anymore. I do not wanna know why.

Honestly I think I might do this to people when I tell them about my dad. He's an alcoholic that abandoned me after my parents divorced. He has never payed child support and I have pretty much gone no contact with him because he would only try to contact me to try and manipulate me. For a court hearing he had come down and stayed with our neighbors a block away (not that they really wanted him there in the first place but that's another story) and he didn't even try to see me, his only child. I've seen him go through so much, including being carried out on stretchers multiple times. Whenever I say this to someone, I always tell them something along the lines of, "I have no problem saying so casually because I was ashamed of my childhood for years. I refuse to be that way today because nothing that happened to me or what I saw was my fault. It affects every aspect of my life and I'm sick of feeling horrible about something I have no control over." This usually lightens the mood a little bit, and I'm usually told that it's pretty cool of me to deal with it like that or something. I still struggle a lot today with it, because after all of it I really just want my dad back. I don't like having to wait for the call that I know I'm gonna get one day, and I still hold out hope that he will get better, because my dad when he's sober is one of my favorite people in the world.

The .22 pistol story while improbable IS absolutely possible to happen. Sometimes you get what's called a "hangfire" which is a delayed ignition of the gunpowder due to manufacture defect or a sloppy reload process. Guy could have pulled trigger no bang, foolishly looked in the barrel, bullet detonated striking him in the face, with finger on the trigger it clinches from pain resulting in a second bullet in his face. If you gun fails to fire while your target shooting you should wait a few seconds with the gun pointed in a safe direction to see if it fires if not eject the round and discard it immediately.

I now keep a very close eye on her and make sure to let her know I love her. Btw, we weren't even close friends then, though we have grown closer since. When he had to change cells he told the new inmate about the mouse and how he hoped it might bring a little happiness to whoever moved into his old block. The next morning in the cafeteria he gets a tap on the shoulder and the new inmate wordlessly hands him a crucifix made from two popsicles. On it, the dead mouse is tied spread eagle. My dad continued the conversation with the hitchhiker and found out he was the eldest son of a large family who lived remotely on a farm with no phone or neighbours. I think the double shot to the face case would be quite easy to solve, a shot to someone's face from point blank range (regardless of the shooter) will leave a lot of forensic evidence (in the form of telltale splatter patterns on the victim ,shooter and any nearby bystanders) and if it didn't you would immediately know the victim was not shot from point blank range.
