You might think about getting a long skirt because especially in Asia countries, if you want to visit temples and such (and I suggest you do, no matter your religion, because they are gorgeous) you will need to wear a skirt or wrap a long scarf around your waist so it looks like a skirt. Just a heads up!

Skirt, maxi dress, elephant pants, palazzo, joggers...It all works. Anything that covers your leg. I'm an Indian that I've never been stopped from temples because I was wearing jeans. But that might be a possibility, I'm not sure. But yes, it doesn't necessarily have to be a skirt I believe.

I love your idea of using a roller bag. So when your body is just done with carrying. And the big blow up pillow is omg fantastic!

Only thing I would say would be not to keep your wallet right at the top of your bag unless you either lock the pulls or keep them pushed to the bottom 100% of the time since it would be really easy for someone to reach in and grab it!

A first aid kit that also fill with some medication from your own country (at least couple of pills foreach medication can last till you found a pharmacy

you can pick these up along the way, but don't neglect blister pads or band-aids, nail clips and files (they're small anyway) and antibacterial wipes just in case. :)

Try Lush products or similar brand ,they do solid shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, moisturiser etc ,all natural ,light, one shampoo bar lasts at least a month, plus it is not liquid , i personally would take more clothes especially lightweight tops ,a couple of little dresses one long one for covering legs in temples and churches etc and 1 more playsuit at least as that would have fit in and provided a bit more variation x

I would bring something for an upset stomach- depending on what countries you visit a lot of places have different standards for washing fruits and veggies which allows for different bacteria etc. that you may not be used to, to get in to your food- even if it's prepared at a restaurant. And take it from me, you don't want to be alone in a developing countries pharmacy trying to read non English labels to find something to calm your stomach!

took 40 l cheap bpack on tiny wheels and foldaway lightest daypack .. cut out backpack handles as dont carry anything as heavy ..so gave me an xtra compartment 10 kg weight.. but this has to be cgecked in as on cheap flights weight is 8 kg with only 1 bag ... except Easyjet who do not weigh but you can literally only take backpack.. main drawback have to take stock of meds

Consider some solid products like shampoo, conditioner, face cream, body lotion,tooth powder or tabs, and dove soap. Last the equivalent of 3 bottles of shampoo, no liquid, super small. Several companies. Since you are vegan check Lush or ethique. Have fun!

Hello, How did you like the gences / suspenders shoulder and hip they do not seem to be padded ?? The belt does not seem to take the weight instead of the shoulders do not I cheat? PS: A little advice from an optometrist, protect your contact lenses more than that (front cover is not a good idea) (I hope my english is ok pcq it's not my language, thank you for your understanding )

MarissaKai I thought the same about make up before I left. Didn't use my make up at all. In Asia the humidity is to high to straight your hair. Maybe you can take a travelsize if you realy want to bring it

Usually I over pack trying every year I bring less I go for a month to New Jersey see my uncle with my grandpa and few clothe friends. I go down shore and my uncle does the laundry so trying pack exactly same amount of month what is best to bring?

Do you realy need your laptop and your hairstraightner? They take a lot of space and they're heavy. Also if you don't gave a locker in your hostel you have to bring them with you all the time. Which countries are you going to? Maybe mosquito spray or tigerbalm for the bites.

That's all you took for 6 months travel?! I'm so impressed, I will have about 3 times that (I'm thinking I will need things like proper hiking boots, maybe rubber boots (wellingtons, we call them in the UK) for volunteering) and also I'm taking paper books rather than kindle as I hate using kindle :S Did you just assume that you would have to buy more shampoo etc.? It's just that it's so hard to find vegan stuff, even in my home country, so I was planning on taking like 500ml or more bottles...

Charlotte Hay find all that you think you will need, then get rid of half of it. You will be fine and make dowithout wellingtons im sure thryre just so bulky and hard to carry around and maybe you could even borrow a pair of boots at the place where youre volunteering.

Girl, switch to a menstral cup! You don't have to worry about carrying around a bunch of stuff that ends up trashing the environment. Also, consider ditching conditioner; I stopped using it and my hair feels great! (just one less thing to carry, hah)

kals sendo I think I have a moon cup (it's been a while since I got it). They all come in different shapes so you might have to try a couple before you find the right one. I also found if I tried shoving it too far up (instead of letting the stem stick out a little and settle itself) it would leak. it does take a little practice and i still use tampons from time to time, but its been worth it

If you're visiting the 3rd world; you can get a travel medical kit from a doctor which has antibiotics and such, and OMG you need Imodium! You might want a small folding knife, in case the spork doesn't cut it.

..... in case of diarrhea. It's gross, but if you go to Asia you will probably get a tummy upset at some point. I always take it with me, you can buy these things over there, but no necessarily with English language packaging.
