@@ajaiakaoaosnaiansjaoanskak I didn't know they had this service available in the US, but in Korea there are post partum clinics that many moms go to for recovery. Traditionally the other female family members pitched in with the food preparation and aftercare for the new mother. I can remember my grandma and aunties coming over all the time with miyukkuk and other korean dishes for my mom after she had my younger siblings. Also language-wise older female figures are often called, "imo/이모" (pronounced ee-mo) which means Auntie. Even if you aren't related. Older ladies in the service industry are also called imo.

same with indian culture, first 40 days after postpartum are taken very seriously. Hot nutritious meals are made for the mum. The mother's body and health is so important after labor. In my Hmong culture, we have a 30 day- strict boiled chicken and herbs dish to eat. It helps cleanse our body. We focus on just the baby and ourselves. The mother doesn't do any hard labor such as cooking, cleaning as she needs to focus on her health and mental cause it's so important. Congratulations Jenn!

This video makes me so emotional I had to comment. It is so incredibly beautiful to see how Korean culture takes care of postpartum mother’s. I remember my postpartum and I barely ate or drank anything, stopped taking my vitamins, adversely effected my recovery and breastfeeding my baby. I felt so depressed. So incredibly important to help mama look after herself so she can look after baby. It may be unusual to say about a food video but seeing a mama being cherished and taken care of postpartum is a beautiful special thing! 💖

There’s also similar post-partum care in Malaysia where the mother, mother-in-law or grandmother prep the food, apply concoction of medicinal herbs on the body or massages…there’s a paid service too like what Jenn is using. It allows the mother to recover and by having good food, massages, the mother feel taken care of and decreases the chance of having post-partum depression.

Wearing some sort of "corset" to get back in shape..nowadays, many people hire "confinement lady" to help mom n baby to take care all of these things.

In Nigeria and I think most African cultures, the grandma takes care of the new born for several weeks. If the grandma isn’t available aunties or family friends will do it. The grandma will also cook for the mom and the family. Basically taking the stress away from the mother until she’s fully recovered.

What a lucky lady, I wish every new mama can get look altered this well. I live in the uk and the first months of postnatal is also very important for my Chinese culture. However, all my families are still in China. My British mother-in-law who came to our house to “help” after I gave birth to my son. All she did was watching TV, listening to music, chatting to my husband who supposed to help me looking after baby. Well, she made me 2 cups of tea and 1 meal in a whole day. And telling me to not eat too much when I was making myself some toast, so I don’t “spoil the dinner” (the only meal she made for the whole day)…. I happily said goodbye to her few days later when she finally left. I’m so glad you’ve been looked after so well. Xx

I can’t believe even after JUST having a baby you are still creating and giving us such lovely, aesthetically beautiful content!! I LOVED this! Postpartum care is also a big thing in many African cultures, my mum and mother-in-law literally took care of my husband and I post baby and I couldn’t be more grateful. I watched this with my MIL and just loved seeing the similarities and differences.. thanks for sharing 🤎❤️

I’m so jealous you had someone cook for you right after giving birth. 😄 The food looked amazing!! I think postpartum care for women is horrible in the US. We get one doctor visit at 6 weeks and that’s it and have to figure out how to care for this new life by ourselves essentially. I felt the emotions when you came down for your birthday tea party! Everything made me cry after having a baby and still does (5 years later).

I’m Korean American and my mom spent a whole month caring and cooking meals for me postpartum (with my hubby supporting of course) but she insisted she do it. It was such a special experience for us, but it was definitely exhausting for her. But she insisted that she do it even when I told her that it’s okay. I’m forever grateful for her. ❤️ I’m so glad you had auntie to take care of you, I hope I can have the same resource for when we have our second so my mom can get a break then.

Hi Jenn! I remember last time you said you were struggling with producing milk for Lennon. I don’t know if you try it yet but in Vietnam there’s pork leg congee and its the best meal to help moms produce more milk! I remember my mum used to eat that and it truly helped her! Then she was struggling with overproducing it lol. 🤣🤙🏼

My favourite moments:: when Ben literally ran to get your pillow, when you cried after seeing the birthday spread, the crispy crunch when you bit in to that cabbage pancake!! I love your vlogs//eating//any type of videos you post. Such incredible content, such a great example of love and what a truly healthy relationship looks like - both with Ben and with yourself. Thank you so much for sharing

My mum had me when she was 30 turning 31 at the same time you had Lenny (him & I are 1 day apart!) and she's always said how it was the perfect age to have a child & enjoyed it so much. She's aged so gracefully & I have no doubt you will too! Happy belated birthday Jen 🤍✨✨✨

Also crying with everyone else but before it even got to the surprise! The fact that there is a word in Korean for taking care of a mom postpartum set me off. Thankful you shared this video and how grateful, appreciative and loved you feel with every meal. It was too sweet.

You are so fortunate to have your auntie cook for you. Postpartum care is also huge in the Philippines. We eat lots of soup. It helps with lactation.

Wow as a korean your agamom?? Is amazing. She did a great balance of traditional korean food AND hip western food.. thats a serious accomplishment. Even rich bougie women in korea have a difficult time finding good postpartum help so the fact that you found this person in the u.s is just amazing. Wow three cheers for your employing skills jenn

you're auntie she's so sweet and she's such a big help. In my culture as well, for 1-3months after a mother gives birth, either the new mom MOTHER would go and stay with them to help with her recovery, or an auntie, any type of female relative would go and stay with the new mother helping her recover. Taking care of house chores, and cooking, while the new mom focuses on her own recovery, and the care of the baby. Which is why it's crazy to me when I see tiktoks of Western new mom's saying people only ask to "hold the baby" but not help her, it surprises me, because in my culture the focus is ALWAYS on the mother AND child, not just the new born child alone.

Agamom has superpower in cooking and also ensure her love is well cooked whenever she serves 😍 Jenn is amazing at taking care of herself and managed to move on with daily life powerfully , a true inspiration for me. I always loved the way she express herself and validated her every emotions. Ben is indeed a loving man, husband, son and father - I can see from the way he talks and care from his own vlogs and here. Take good care of yourself and rest whenever you can 😊

Curious how your mom felt about you hiring an agamom instead of having her help you ? I didn’t even know hiring a postpartum chef was a thing!

Usually we prefer hiring an agamom/caretaker instead of taxing our parents. Also, agamom are trained and well educated in postpartum care. While our moms may not always know everything about how to care for us as every individual deals with postpartum differently. So I bet her mom didnt feel anything as its quite normal for us asians :)
