There's something far more rewarding to finding the perfect vintage/secondhand piece in a random store or market somewhere over something you just purchased from a place like Target or Crate&Barrel. It's almost like those new things lack a "soul" in a way. After all, if it's something unique or one-of-a-kind, you have a story to tell and a memory made every time you enjoy it in your home- all with the added benefit of sustainability.

You are so right about "fast decor". I've gone through my home and removed anything plastic/cheaply made and replaced things with thrift store finds of better quality. I am so careful of what I bring into my home now.
@northwoodfalls1403 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the slow pace. It’s real life. And it is also very much in keeping with getting away from the “Fast” everything. And fast renovations fall into that. They encourage a desire to eternally chase the novel. I like the chatty. I put these on as I putter around and I pause to look at what you’re showing us, etc. it’s lovely. It encourages the slow and thoughtful and conscious. ❤

Maddie, loved what you said about no longer wanting to cater yourself to people who don't like you or aren't like you. I think it's so important to be our true authentic selves so that we can attract our tribe and the people we can vibe with and who vibe with us. It takes guts to do that, and it's easier said than done, but in the end, I think it's so worth it! 💗 P.S. Love your vintage dresses and jumpsuit!

That ginger jar is gorgeous! Technically it’s not blue willow, it’s blue and white hand painted. Willow ware is a type of transfer ware whereas an artist hand painted your jar. It may even be older than Blue Willow! (Sorry, the archaeologist in me came out!)

I think that it makes sense to lean more maximalist in a home that you see yourself in forever or for a long time, it shows you’re feeling settled and secure. If you’re renting or staying somewhere temporarily, you’re thinking about having to pack it all up one day and so minimalism is more practical

Excited to watch the home renovations. Love all the changes you have made. Especially the paint and wallpaper choices.

I concur on Willow obsession: I'm currently drinking from my willow tea cup, using my mum's willow milk jug and willow tea pot as I watch this! I use it every morning for my coffee as my 'special time'. I make "pour over coffee" in my teapot and drink dainty amounts of it in my little china cup. Lovely books as well, I've found I can't ever have enough old books.

Your windmill plate is Delft. The English and Netherlanders started copying the Chinese Blue and White, thus Delft was born. Your square bowl, may be a valuable antique, check that our. I don't know why some viewers expect you to only talk about the stuff that interests *them*, and to only have the same opinions as them too 🙄 I'm just a random viewer but I just want to say, I enjoy your content very much just as it is. Some of the stuff is less 100% my thing, some is exactly what I love, sometimes I miss a few videos because the title doesn't appeal so much, but that's all... normal in real life? When do we ever meet people that are 100% exactly like us in every aspect? How weird would it be?? Just keep being you, you're absolutely fine and lovely ❤❤❤

Thank you so much for this comment! You speak sense! This is exactly how I consume other people’s content that I enjoy! Awesome find....That plate is Delft ware...Its Dutch and if it is one of the pieces worth a lot of money you should look for a maker's mark or initial which will be on the base or back of the plate. Some are worth a lot of money!! But most importantly they're stunningly beautiful in my opinion.

The windmill plate is Delft, which was originally Dutch made. Interesting history and I have a collection of little Delft houses that I love.! And I agree it's better to buy a bunch of used stuff than new because if you get tired of it you can sell it or give it away without causing more waste to be made!
