Great video covering the interesting discussion about emergency funds. I agree with the idea of automation especially to transfer some funds (say $200 a week) to Savings account to force myself to save. The idea is to Pay Yourself first before you incur expenses or do shopping. This concept is covered in The Automatic Millionaire book by David Bach. However, I dont automate expenses because I have a habit of writing and tracking checklist of expenses and I check off what I paid so I always have a track of it. This is bit old school but I prefer this. Further when there are too many expense or items to track I will see if I really need to continue those expenses next month or can I cancel some subscription(s) or can I consolidate some (phone, internet, in to one bill), etc.

At least 12 months of emergency fund should be there , just give you sense of security. Liquidity is there for stock market investments but it is hard to liquidate sometimes depends of how market is performing. You can also do one thing, about 1 to 2% of your mortgage amount should be contributed every year for mortgage amounts. American Express cobalt card give 5 points each dollar spent on grocery and eat outs . They do have 12.99 fee but I have built 100% more on points.

this seems overly complicated....you are not supposed to regularly dip into your SIX month emergency fund so no need to look at that every 2 weeks and top it up. If you are touching your emergency savings then you need to fix that part of your budget first so it gets built up and stays that way. Second, no need to have a prepaid card etc. Once you get your pay into your checking account and you pay your fixed expenses i.e. insurance, utilities, mortgage and do savings/investing (outside your emergency fund that is already put away in a seperate savings account) then the rest is your variable expenses i.e. eating out, shopping, random trips ....

Some credit cards gives points that can b used for movies. For instance I've never spent a single cent towards movie tickets. Take these points further and top up ur economy air ticket for premium economy and so on. Overall a very good video ! :)
