I totally understand your decision to evaluate your vegan diet. For me it was exactly the same and I am not as strict as I used to be with eggs and dairy. Don’t feel bad about it, you’re still doing a lot for the animals ❤️

I was in the same position with the vegan diet and something that really helped with the guilt was calling myself “plant-based.” It gives some more leeway when eating animal products every now and then

i understand your idea about veganism and how issues w/control can cause a gradually deepening negative self perception. I used to feel that way pretty frequently, I have a history with OCD and I would deal with a lot of obsessive guilt over issues w/ my personal diet as well as what my family was eating. I always felt like I was never doing enough. It's definitely an unhealthy way to live (in that mentality) and it constantly fuels this ongoing mental battle that ends up wearing you down and making you question veganism and its role in your life. what helped me was learning how to align my actions with my morals. and figuring that out is a process! and you should never be hard on yourself because of it. regardless, you always need to be kind to yourself and show compassion to yourself if you want to help the animals. just try to not lose sight of the cause if you start incorporating more egg and fish in your diet, as in that situation it's easy to start separating yourself from veganism and animal rights. but always show kindness to yourself :) you have already done lots on this platform for animal rights as well as making veganism more accessible, and you should applaud yourself for that

Yes, I agree with you on that! I think for me it's not so much that I even crave animal products, its been more of just not adhering so strictly to a vegan diet and just eating. If me just eating is actually still following a vegan diet, then thats fine; however, I just don't want to associate with the label for the time being, as I was find it mentally constraining and only fuel for my ED. I appreciate your words and support! 😊✨

Idk if anyone relates to this but yesterday I had a panic attack cause of a family dinner. I ended up crying myself to sleep on the floor Cause I felt like such a shame. I wasn’t able to breathe yesterday. Does anyone of you guys had that or something close to that before?

Hi Amy! Yes I’ve experienced that quite a lot actually! Know that you are not alone!!! I was reading Tabitha Farrar’s book (she has a YT channel too which I highly recommend checking out) and basically says much of the anxiety is due to neural wiring that our brain thinks the proper response to food and meals is anxiety. It sees food as a threat. The only way to rewire your brain is to push through and show your body that food is not to be feared but enjoyed! Also showing compassion for yourself is key! You are not a lesser person because of your anxiety, you are deserving of recovery always! I’m rooting for you!

You can’t ethically eat animals. What shit is that 😂
@zoealexiswongg4 жыл бұрын
I know there is no "ethical" way to kill an animal. I am not saying that I am going to go back to consuming a predominantly animal product based diet. What I am saying, is that in my recovery, I need to put myself first before I can be there for the animals, and in doing so, I am going to be as aware as I can in sourcing whatever my family might purchase or consume. I am still predominantly plant-based and In the future I hope to return to a 100% vegan lifestyle.

Veganism is not a personal choice when it involves the murder of another being because of YOU. Veganism isn’t restrictive. It’s a substitution. You were never vegan. You can’t sometimes abuse animals.
@marshmellowcats43864 жыл бұрын
Isabel Simon Veganism may not be restrictive but the reason on why she is vegan may be because her eating disorder sees veganism as a WAY to restrict, not that the diet itself is restrictive, so of course as someone who also is recovering from a restrictive eating disorder and was not allowed to go vegetarian because it may have been a reason for me to restrict, she also is thinking the same in the fact that veganism may not be the best for her in her recovery. You can’t attack someone for doing what is best for them.
@liamburke12094 жыл бұрын
This comment is completely unjustified. Veganism is about showing care, kindness and compassion to all sentient beings. Yes, that refers to animals - but it also refers to humans. A person has GOT to show themselves the kindness and compassion they deserve and are worthy of before they can fully show it to others. Perhaps for some veganism isn't restrictive, that's wonderful for them. They deserve to be shown compassion. For others, veganism may be restrictive. They too deserve to be shown compassion. You seem to not fully understand veganism yourself if this is the mindset you have, an individual lacking compassion. If zoe is reading this, you do what works for you! We're all rooting for you.
@lizziesomerville11864 жыл бұрын
the person who you are talking to is in recovery from a restrictive eating disorder, do not make them feel guilty for their eating choices. she can always be vegan in the future but for now she needs to look after her own well being. veganism would be restrictive for me so i won’t be going vegan in the near future. in my opinion veganism doesn’t belong in recovery
@kimiherrera4 жыл бұрын
you’re the exact reason why people don’t want to go vegan at all, purists like you always turn to the negatives instead of the positive changes they’re making.
