little tip: what really helped me learning a new language was turning my phone to that language, so subconsciously you read all the words and because you know they're meaning (like settings -> Einstellungen) you're more likely to remember :)

Exposure is key! I have done this, I also label all kinds of food containers and drawers in the target language.

Yes! My German grades were previously terrible, but I started sort of “acclimating” myself (German media, setting German as my phone language, German music etc) and I feel that my vocabulary has improved! It really does help to live in Germany, and at the moment, I’m stuck in HK and unable to travel (we were supposed to go as a class last year, but because of Covid, no one has been able to go anywhere. If I ever do go to Germany, I will attend a sprachschule, damit kann ich mein Deutsch verbessern.

You know, I'm working in a consulting office for immigrants right now that just so happens to also house german language courses for them. I'm always in awe of them. Most of them already speak 2-4 languages (i think you do too, at least two as far as I remember) and now they're learning yet another one, with a completely different alphabet too. So, i wish you the best of luck with that! I might try to learn arabic at some point, because I'd love to help people even better!

It's a really hard language to learn, I'm a native who has a BA in German and there are still many things I cannot wrap my head around sometimes haha :'D But you already mastered some pretty difficult things, like the different ways to pronounce "ch" or to the way natives sometimes leave out the last vocal of a word that ends in "-en" (so instead of "essen" we actually say "essn", which you did perfectly!). Keep it up! :D Also I really want to eat Gyoza now. The looked delicious!

Hey Hill, probier doch mal folgendes: Pilze mit Frischkäse füllen und dann im Ofen backen, evtl. auch noch überbacken mit Käse 😊 den Frischkäse vorher mit Kräutern, Salz und Pfeffer würzen. Passt auch super zum Grillen! Dachte ich spare mir mein lausiges Englisch und oute mich als deutsche Followerin 🤓 Mach weiter so, unsere Sprache ist wirklich nicht einfach zu lernen 🙈

Fellow book lover in Munich: you can always order english books on Hugendubel and I adore their collection in the shops. Also try the Stadtbibliothek, found some amazing reads there esp in Motorama and Neuhausen 🥰

Hello! I actually was going to join Lingoda sprint (I've tried a few classes before and loved it so I'd recommend it too ^^) but I had to take a special course to extend my visa, so I registered at a language school instead. The one I'm at is called Klartext!

Alex is Pat's brother :) The timer is from a store in Germany called Depot, but I've seen that style in many big department stores as well!
