Nikki I really appreciate you being so honest and transparent about when your ideas don't go as planned. This is what makes you one of my favorite youtubers; Because you show us EVERYTHING, the good, the tough and the in-between. Often times, some youtubers only try to show us the curated, calculated good stuff. Thank you for being so open with us and I'm sure you'll succeed in your subsequent tries with every idea you pursue :)

That's really nice to hear! I'm so glad that you like my videos and appreciate when I share stuff like what happened with the flowers. It was definitely a fail but that happens with DIY projects sometimes! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave me such a nice comment. It really means a lot. Hope you have a great night!

Happy Belated Birthday Nikki. Your meals all look delicious and I would enjoy a video of Holiday ideas like you did for the fall. That chocolate trifle looked so beautiful and yummy.

If you still have your flowers, you could try doing what I did with mine. I had roses that dried out completely, so I crushed them and used the red petal pieces to fill a Waterford crystal heart. The heart is split in half, so you can remove the top and put whatever you like in it. It looks really pretty filled with the crushed petals. I keep a mason jar of the leftover petals in case the heart ever gets knocked around and spills. Sorry the pressing didn't work out!

Happy belated birthday! That trifle looks amazing! So good to know the dairy free whipping cream doesn’t collapse after a few days. Gingerbread trifle would be amazing for the holidays…hint hint! For the flower pressing, I’m so sorry it didn’t work, back when we had telephone books, we’d press them directly in between the pages with nothing else. I had a mini flower press that just consisted of layers of corrugated cardboard and watercolor paper in between two pieces of wood with screws for the press. You could use the cardboard and watercolor paper between the floor and heavy books? Maybe you can recreate your bouquet on your first anniversary and try again!

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! I’m glad you liked the trifle-it was a hit! A gingerbread trifle sounds like a delightful idea for the holidays; I’ll definitely keep that in mind! I appreciate your tips on flower pressing, too. I love the idea of using cardboard and watercolor paper between heavy books; I’ll give that a try for sure. It would be so special to recreate the bouquet on our first anniversary!

I've never done this myself but I found some information on line that says if your pressed flowers get mold, Clean the Mold: Use a soft brush or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to gently brush off the mold. Be cautious and only apply light pressure to avoid tearing the petals. Drying: After cleaning, place the flowers on a clean paper towel and let them dry completely in a well-ventilated area. I hope it works

You want to use paper towels, not parchment paper. Parchment paper will lock in moisture and therefore make the flower mold. The goal is supposed to be to dry the flower out. So you would use a paper towel and change it every couple of days. But once it's moldy it's probably gone for good. Sorry to hear that.

Definitely doing your little pasta meal hack. Normally I won't use Raos because of the amount of oil it contains, but for this dish, when you are using a vegan crumble with simple ingredients that is low-fat I think the extra oil would be welcome- and Raos is so good! LOVE Only Murders too BTW

I pressed the just between the pages of the book without any paper. Book absorbs any moisture if there should be any.

So sorry for you that your pressed flowers grew . It will have been that they were too wet. I usually dry flower heads by taking the petals apart and pressing them on their own between good acid free kitchen roll. I do hope your can rescue some petals if not flower heads. Love the video x
@NikkiVegan29 күн бұрын
Good idea to take the petals apart first! That probably would have helped. I'll try that next time. Why do you use acid free kitten roll? Does that help dry them?

Oh one more thing I live by Raos but they switched from Olive Oil to Sunflower Oil which is very inflammatory and should be avoided
@Mialuvsveggies28 күн бұрын
aaawww so sorry about your flowers. The parchment was the problem, it traps moisture. Best to dry directly on the book pages or, better, pick up blotter paper at a craft store.

Has Nicholas always been vegan or did he become one after you met him? I would throw all your flowers away , I’m sure mold is on the leaves but you can’t see it. I wouldn’t want mold around the house or near you while you’re pregnant.
