I’ve had the uterine biopsy done 4 times before doing an ablation (unsuccessful to stop the bleeding), which ultimately led to a complete hysterectomy (best decision of my life, wish I did it 15 years ago, but I digress.) The biopsy, more specifically the last one I had made me nearly pass out from the pain and I’ve been through a lot, so my pain tolerance is pretty high. It took my breath away and I was near tears once my doctor was done. What did I get as my “reward” for being so brave? Two high dosage ibuprofen and a pat on the shoulder. My husband has been there for at least 2 of the procedures and I think it traumatized him. I know men would never survive what we (females) have to go through. 😆

My entire life changed when I went back to my bariatric nutritionist. I’m a recently diagnosed T2 diabetic with not so great LDL, HDL or triglycerides. I’m also battling high WBC & RBC. Hematologists in my are are booking out 2 to 3 months. Ozempic along with Mediterranean WOE has been a game changer for me. I’m down 70 pounds this year so far. I expect to be down another 25 by the end of the year and my plan is a another 70 by the end of 2025.

I totally feel ya on the whole procedures on female bits without pain meds. I went for a contrast study of my uterus. They told me I could take some ibprofen beforehand because it could be "a little uncomfortable" that was the understatement of the year. I won't go into much more detail, but I was in so much pain I wanted to die then they're just like "see ya later"

I am going thru the same exact gyn issues! Diagnosed w anemia. Heavy very long periods, Im talking two weeks. Had biopsy & ultra sound they found a mass in uterus. Just had 4 procedures Hysteroscopy, d&c, endometrial ablation & mysoure under Gen anesthesia. Found was benign but fibroids grown to uterus. Now I need a full hysterectomy taking uterus, tubes but leaving ovaries. Nervous for major recovery but happy to not have heavy debilitating periods & loose so much blood monthly. Thanks for sharing your journey. 😊

I really like your food plan. It’s sustainable. You eat what you like, you’re not hungry, you eat variety and well balanced with portion control and smart choices. It all makes sense. Its like eating 80/20 because you do allow for treats like pizza. It’s pretty close to WW without the points.

Yes girl!! Before i found out that i needed iron infusions, when i would be in the shower i could barely even wash my hair without feeling like i was going to pass out so i understand getting out of breath from things that are normal daily tasks. I'm so glad you are looking into this bc you will be shocked at how much better you feel after infusions. It is just like the analogy of the frog in the boiling water: we don't realize how our daily life is being affected by it over time, we just accept it as normal and "it will pass". Remember to ask about uterine fibroid also!!

Be careful what u wish for. I had gastric bypass in 2008. I have had low B12 and low iron ( not on chart) I believe it was 7 I started infusions and wow, they made me so sick. My pcp changed the iron to a different one and the same thing happened. My stomach was so raw, I couldn’t eat for 4 days. So I couldn’t do it. So now I take Bariatric Iron. It’s called CELEBRATE. I am still not at optimum level of iron but I feel better. Just try not to make plans, if u do decide to try the infusions for the day after the infusion. Maybe it was just me, I just wanted to let you know just in case. I was fine during the infusion. Thanks for your great videos as usual, I always enjoy!😊

I frequently throw subpar overnight oats in a bowl and heat them up in the microwave with a touch more milk/water and spices to make them palatable! I originally started doing it because doing the overnight soaking method with an acid of some kind (yogurt/lemon juice) makes rolled/old fashioned oats more digestable and cook in the same amount of time as quick cooking oats 😊

I just found your channel and wanted to tell you I just had a biopsy a few days ago, but the lead up was in three doctor visits. The first was the annual. They said there were some abnormalities so they wanted to take an ultrasound, that was the second appt. Then they said the findings showed I should probably get a biopsy. They contacted my insurance and I got approved for anesthesia. My doctor does not do this procedure without it! So this was scheduled and I was completely out during the procedure. If I were you, might want to see about getting another OBGYN!

Gastritis!! When I got iron infusions it was because I did not absorb any iron my dr ever tired. I first went to my dr thinking I was having new onset asthma attacks because I was so short of breath but nope it was my iron. I couldn’t even take 2 stairs. The hematologist told me that taking iron for me was like drinking water. I have gastritis and the infusions never bothered my stomach. Good luck with everything, hope you feel better soon. I’ve had uterine biopsy x2. They repeated next year. First one uncomfortable, second very painful. I also have high pain tolerance. Only instruction I received was to take ibuprofen before appt. I do have a hx of fibroids and was in early 40’s then and bleeding heavily.

Sooo, after sleeve surgery, my iron levels were staying down, and my family doc and my OBGyN were just telling me to take my iron tablets, etc. I was on a yearly check at the Bariatric surgeon, so I had not been there to be checked. Anyways….I was cold all the time, low energy, and all of a sudden 2 fingers and 3 toes were hurting, and felt like little needles pricking them. I went to the ambulatory care walk in clinic, because it was weekend, and I had not slept in a 3 days from the pain. They did a couple tests, and then my blood work came back! My iron, along with several other things in my blood was dangerously low, and I was at organ shutdown. My fingers and toes were hurting, because of the low iron. The doc couldn’t believe I had driven myself there, and I had walked by myself in. She said I was sooo critical, I shouldn’t have been able to do those things. I truly think it is just the gift of ADHD that didn’t let me shut down, and just kept pushing me. Anyways, I was transferred to the hospital, had to have a blood transfusion, and infusions before leaving the hospital, and then infusion treatments afterwards. That was 2 years ago. My bariatric doc and hematologist keeps a close eye on me now. I have had to have infusions periodically over the last 2 years, and to say I feel better is an understatement! It is daylight and dark difference! Now that I know what to recognize, I can truly tell when I’m starting to have issues, and need to get checked! I pray you find answers, and find what will help you! I urge you to see your bariatric doc soon!!!! Good luck on your journey! You are an inspiration!

Jen, I had the same biopsy and let me tell you, I screamed so loud. It was just sooooo painful and they tryed three times and she said I don’t think I got enough of a sample but I said I’m done. I shook uncontrollably and I was sweating and they had to drop me down so quick and bring in ice packs. I kept saying this is just wrong. You mean a woman has to go thru this in 2023. Well it did come back as not a good sample and needed to repeat it. I said no way, absolutely not. So I ended up getting it a second opinion and she did it outpatient. SomI feel your pain.

I have been extremely tired this year. I started supplementing. I take Nature's Way Dim Plus supplement. Estrogen levels really affect women. I'm only 47. I find these help with balancing. Sea Buckthorn for Omegas. Also, Centrum Silver for extra vitamins. I think when we turn 40, our bodies drastically change and are deficient in many ways. I did get quite an energy boost. I got lazy and didn't stay consistent with them, and now I'm starting all over building my energy. Just thought I'd suggest what I'm doing for energy. I can't take iron or zinc supplements. They upset my stomach.

I had a biopsy the same way. I too wasn't prepared for it. I went to work after, and actually felt ok. My gyn said that a shot to numb me would probably have hurt more, or the same. And waiting for it to work would take longer than the actual biopsy. Mine was negative. Im in menopause and suddenly had bleeding 18 months after no bleeding. Turns out my body just wanted to release that last sad egg...lol. so, i had to start the count of no bleeding all over again. The say if you've had 2 years with no period your officially in menopause. Being a woman is a challenge sometimes...☹

I can’t do the weekly ( five week one) I can only tolerate the one time infusion. Usually lasts a year for me. The once a week for five weeks made me so sick. Most people are just fine with it. Hope you get it figured out. Love your nail color!

I had the same procedure done in the office without my consent and it was truly horrible. I suffered all day and it felt like a complete violation. Now for me I was 6 months post op from a complete hysterectomy due to ovarian cancer but I still feel I should have been asked and informed. I go back in 2 weeks for another follow up and I will be very adamant about them informing me of everything before they touch me. I had low iron before the hysterectomy and with 2 infusions and the surgery I am finally no longer anemic. I pray you get your issues resolved and do not be afraid to be your own advocate. You work in the medical field and I know you know that sometimes you have to push for answers. Best wishes.

I was so out of breath and just thought it was because I needed to lose some weight. Not the case. Due to the WLS I’m not absorbing iron like I should and the trouble breathing was a sign that I was clueless about. 3 days later I ended up in the hospital. I thought I was going to die. OMG Jenn I couldn’t agree more on the biopsy issue. My a physician at the time said oh the days of having a baby all over again right?? I’m like Ah no- I was out with my c section and this was truly awful. I’m much older and there is no reason in thinking day and age that this should be this horrific l!

Great video Jen-thanks. I hope everything works out well with your health. My sister had an impromptu uterine biopsy a couple of weeks ago and she called me in tears saying it hurt like 'a MF' 😳 I texted her what you said about it being barbaric and she said YES!

I remember eating peanut butter on saltines. We didn’t have a lot of money growing up either. We always ate well even if it wasn’t fancy. Take out pizza or fish & chips were treats on occasion. Ignore food snobs. Who are they to judge what you eat. You are a busy mom.

Iron pills are very hard on the stomach, so stomach pain is very common with them. I have Crohn's and have absorption issues (which I assume you also experience with your bariatric surgery) and so taking the pills did not raise my iron levels due to absorption. I have to get iron infusions as a result and these do help my anemia.

I have pcos and had to have iron infusions from heavy periods. I finally had an IUD and I stopped having heavy periods and iron levels normal now. I had iron infusions weekly for almost a year. They made me feel worse. They made me tired and made my muscles hurt, and it would take 2 hours every week for the infusions.

I have a hiatal hernia. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago and I was told it was small enough not to require surgery but I needed to start taking a pretty large amount of acid reflux meds (currently I take omeprazole twice a day). In the last year or so I’ve been having, issues with always being nauseous, vomiting, food looks unappealing, and I can only eat a little bit. I’ve lost 90 pounds in the last couple years and most of it is because I’m so nauseous I can barely eat. My primary doctor basically said I was losing weight and that was all that mattered. She is big on the “overweight people only have any issues because they are overweight.” I did find a new doctor and she is running a bunch of tests but she thinks that the hernia may have gotten larger and may require surgery. Hopefully you don’t have that issue and all is well. If it turns out you do make sure you find a good doctor to help fix it.

Hi Jen, I am so sorry you had to go through that. I had one years ago and it was so painful I cried. I was in pain for a few days and I bleed for two days. It was such a horrible experience, I had a headache afterwards and was shaken up. My husband was with me and he was concerned about how I looked when I came out of the exam room. It was just that bad. I don't understand why they can't numb the area before taking a sample.

If you want the most yummy Oreo overnight oats and calorie friendly here’s my recipe. 1/2 cup oats, 2 regular Oreos crushed, 1/2 cup almond milk unsweetened, 1-2 tablespoons of vanilla light yogurt. Mix and it’s sooooo good I was literally addicted for months everyday

Yep. I had to have an endosee in the office two years ago. Essentially using a camera to look inside my uterus. I asked if I needed to take anything before and the nurse was like oh you can take some ibuprofen. They needed to dilate my cervix to get the camera in… with water. No meds. I haven’t had children. It was the most miserable thing I’ve ever done and I have a high tolerance. I got so sick from the pain.

Leep procedure was the worst thing I had done to me while being awake. I would never let someone I know do that while awake. I agree about gyno... I had my fallopian tubes removed and managed ok with the two days of pain meds after. I had a tooth pulled and went home with more pain meds, that pretty much sums it up.

Omg. I've had some very painful GYN office procedures. 3 cervical biopsy specimens and a uterine biopsy. Not at same time but DANG! That was awful!

Hi Jen I had the same procedure done and when I tell you I literally screamed in the office, it had to be one of the most painful things, it was worse than labor pains. I totally wasn’t expecting it and another awful thing is it scarred me from going back to the OB/GYN
