I would love to know how you handle your kids being vegan, in the sense of when they're invited at a friends or so (some situation where you're not the one in control of what they eat), do you "school" / expect them to insist on vegan food, do they know the difference? I don't know if this question even makes sense but I just think thats a very interesting topic for raising vegan kids

We have 4 kids and are vegan. We have really kind friends and family who make a point to have things for us or coordinate on events (e.g. someone is having a BBQ and we bring veggie dogs). When we are invited to new places, we usually just eat beforehand and do our best. There’s usually something vegan at every party just on accident… chips and guacamole, hummus and pita, fresh fruit, veggie platters, etc. My kids are usually too excited to play with friends that they ignore the food anyway.

Hey! So i have a question. There's this food tracking app i use. I'm having all the protein sources, chickpeas, beans, lentils etc and decent amount of veggies. But it keeps telling me I'm eating too much fiber. But i can't really help that if i want to get enough protein! Can we really get too much fiber?
@heatherdodge8304
@heatherdodge8304 Жыл бұрын
There really isn’t any such thing as too much fiber… UNLESS it #1. Causes you intestinal discomfort or digestive side affects (if this is the case, you can work up to a larger amount of fiber gradually to try avoiding gastrointestinal symptoms) or #2. Causes you to be underweight because you are eating too few calories by filling up on cruciferous and non starchy veggies.

Did you say you let your baby cry for 15 minutes? Doesn't that wake up the whole house? 🤔 I haven't had a baby in the house in over 30 years but if I remember correctly I always got them right away. The main reason was so they wouldn't wake up the other kids or my husband who had to work.

Hi there, very interesting videos and channel. I wanted to go vegan to reduce cruelty to animals, for the ethical reasons, so I have researched the effects. What has ended up making me feel like I have recently hit a wall has been learning about the sulrisingly horrendous amount of natural wild animals like field mice, foxes, deer, rabbits, etc that end up being killed by the current agricultural methods of harvesting grains and vegetables. It would appear ironically that more animals dying sadly painful deaths due to harvesting machines and agriculture of plants and grains than one would expect or imagine! :s Disturbingly discovering More wildlife is possibly dying to feed humans plant based sustinance than the actual farming of pig and cow who can feed many people\meals from one cow. This begs the question then, can vegan farming really exist at least on a large scale? Which animals life is more important to protect? Is a dozen field mice worth more than one pig or cow? Ironically if a person eats vegetables rather than meat are they now responsible for evsn more animal deaths? This is my awful dillema. Besides this, plants themselves rely on nutrified soil which needs to be made nutrified and furtile by compost manure, something than is an animal product. If soil is never fertilized the vegetables and grain will lack the nutritional value we need as humans. Is anything or anyone then truly vegan?
@earthangel66
@earthangel66 Жыл бұрын
Actually most grains, legumes, etc that is grown is for feeding farm animals. Because, you know, they've got to eat so they can get eaten by us. Approximately half of the farm land in the US is for animal agriculture. So when you eat vegan, you are directly eating the grains, legumes, etc, which is FAR more efficient and obviously causes less animal deaths and harm to the planet. Of course no one on the planet can completely avoid animal suffering, it is an inevitable fact of existence. But veganism is about reducing animal harm as far as is possible and practicable.
@wavy6470
@wavy6470 Жыл бұрын
I see this argument often used against veganism, but it isn't a good one. What do people think cows and pigs eat? How is their food farmed and how many field mice needed to die to produce one kilogram of beef? If we eat the plants used to feed these animals, 1) we are saving their lives and 2) we are using less resources, which would lead to less field mice and other critters being killed. Veganism is about the reduction of harm, it's not possible to completely eliminate all and any harm done if we are alive. We are killing many other living organisms every day just by moving around and existing. Veganism is about reducing unnecessary suffering. I actually think Unnatural Vegan has a video about this, I can find it for you if you are interested. Good luck on your journey!

You're eating like a 8year old while still retaining mass. That was exactly what I went through when I did veganism. I did 4 months of Esselstyns followed by 2-3months of normal plant based diet. Before that for a full year I tried to opt into the vegan diet, so it wasn't a fast switch. Then when doing all of it I was getting fat as hell while starving. Slowly spiraling into weird obsessive uneasy mind. Took me almost a year to snap out of this bullshit. Now I eat when I want, what I want. Back to eggs, fish, meat, milk. I eat my breakfast and I'm DONE. I legit don't even have a freaking thought about food until very late evening lol. Obviously I eat, but my brain is relaxed. I lost all this stupid bodyfat while being triple satiated. My facial skin elasticity also got wrecked. I was exercising and eating "healthy" and was looking like doing drugs or all nighters some mornings. I've read all the science, and this is what we're supposed to do. But I was a mess
