Thank you so much for posting these. I am 35 yrs old, I am raising 3 kids who are now 5, 13 and 16. I'm also Autistic and ADHD and so I have comorbid things such as Sensory Aversions and Sensitivities, Low Dopamine/Impulse Control issues, etc. I've struggled with disordered and self esteem/body image issues my entire life, since as far back as 5 or 6 yrs old and comparing myself to the girls in my kindergarten class. I've been through a pattern of Restricting and over exercising, getting "Fit" and then crashing and burning, resulting in weeks to months, even longer of Binge Eating cycles, gaining all of it back. I'm currently in a really dark BED Relapse, and in the process of finally addressing it with a Registered Dietitian (for the first time in my life) and I've ordered some Mindful/Intuitive eating workbooks. Your story, and your channel, means so much to me and so many others. Thank you so much!

Food doesn't taste as good as when you're hungry for it :)
@bellaadams30514 жыл бұрын
Taste hunger is a valid part of intuitive eating. I’m rarely physically hungry when I eat dessert but often am still seeking the “satisfaction factor” so I’ll grab the dessert and be mindful not to eat to a point of discomfort but satiety. The situation also comes into play, is the food chips that you always have on hand, or is it a meal you might never get to have again? With time and practice you learn to find the balance between physical and mental comfort.

I found this website helpful: normaleating.com/blog/2010/04/stopping-when-full/ And she basically says that when you are eating past fullness just cause “it tastes good...” then you are stuck in the neck up trap, and that it isn’t just about taste, but it’s a full body experience. Hope you find it helpful maybe? It answered a lot of questions for me

I consider your effort doing those videos. I know they may help lots of people. Nevertheless, I think that you still struggle with regrets when it comes to food. I am not sure it's mentally healthy to make all those rituals before eating a meal. Moreover, the amount of food you eat is pretty little. Not sure it's enough for an athlete like you. I am not trying to be disrespectful, it's just an appreciation. Even though, I appreciate the effort, as I said, you are making in order to help others to feel better. Pd: sorry if my English is bad. I'm Spanish.

Serious question: does intuitive eating mean eating anything you crave as much as you want whenever you want? Is it not restricting whatsoever?
@brenaebergeron23524 жыл бұрын
Yes, basically a title for eating the way your body naturally wants to. Eating what you crave, stopping when you’re full, not worrying about time of day, and not counting calories, etc
@victoriagarrickbrowne4 жыл бұрын
Correct, but the discrepancy is that you're also MINDFUL during the process. So it's not just "eat whatever you want when you want" it's that AND "making sure your body feels good throughout the process"
