Hey there, love your channel! I appreciate the realness… sharing your, and your families authentic journey, especially recipe fails and foibles. Cause come on, who doesn’t f-up (love that you cuss also!) when cooking? You’re just real enough to share it with us, which is both, entertaining, and encouraging… the fear of failure stops people from trying. Thank you for generously being you!

Thank you so much!! This was such a lovely message to get - it truly means a lot so thank you for taking the time to do so. I've spent my life failing and soldering on, that's just what life is - we've never hidden our failures from our kids - and so I'm glad it comes off that way in our videos and I hope it does inspire others as you've suggested. Truly appreciate this - lots of love from me and my clan!

It is called First Mess by Laura Wright and she is also from the Toronto area . The recipes in the book and on her website are vegan though often higher fat and higher sugar than I'm aiming for and I haven't yet made anything. But I plan to. My favorite vegan gravy recipe: Mushroom Gravy 1 onion, diced 10 to 16 oz. mushrooms, minced 2 cloves garlic, minced Bell's seasoning (or substitute sage, thyme, rosemary, black pepper, and a little oregano) s & p 2 c vegetable broth 2 T low sodium soy sauce ¼ c flour sherry In a skillet, saute onion in some oil with some salt. When onions brown some, move to outer edges of pan and add mushrooms in the middle. Saute until most of their moisture is gone. Clear space in the center of the skillet and add the garlic and some oil. Saute until golden. Add some Bell's seasoning and some freshly ground black pepper and cook a few min. Sprinkle flour over vegetables and stir to combine and cook a bit. Add broth and soy sauce and stir to combine. Stir frequently as it thickens. Add sherry towards the end of cooking.

Thanks for trying out all these recipes! ❤ I like having the kid's input, their flavour/texture palate seems to match mine. Suggestion: have each person describe the flavours they taste in the dish. Different palates will be able to pick out different flavours. Since we all have different palates and flavour preferences this will be more useful verses if a dish is "good" or "bad"

Thanks! Oh - I try to get more description out of the kids, but sometimes by dinner they're so tired from the day it's all I can do to get them to talk at all :) That's why Woolie and I try to be more descriptive - but I'll continue to encourage them to be more descriptive :)

@@pbwithjeremy I first ate teff in an Ethiopian restaurant, as a kind of bread that was served with various wonderfully seasoned vegetables. Delicious! I've used it to make chocolate cakes and cookies. Thank you for your great videos!

Cleaning the vitamix? Maybe I’m missing something… I just put hot water and dish soap in and run the blender to clean it! Have you tried that??

That works for most things but when you make something thick it can be a bit more of a pain. Mostly I hate that you can never quite scrape it all out…

Hi Jeremy! I am very excited about this book! I was enticed by most of the recipes. Don't think I would like the lentil soup because I am not a fan of Indian spices, or the porridge, not sure about that one. But everything else looks delicious! The bread, tofu shakshuka, PB&caramel cookies, chili, beet balls, poutine and pancakes look so good! 😋 My library doesn't have the book, so I may order it through your link (it's in my cart). I will get her other book you mentioned first and see if I like that one. Thank you!

WOW you made a lot of recipes out of this book. Stuff I have never seen before, and some that I've seen but not made like this recipe put it together. I agree with Annie, the chili really did look like poo. LOL. Oh that was hilarious. And yet, she liked it! Which was funnier yet. At the end of this video, Woolie came out pushing her hair back, and not expecting to be on video. But she looked adorable. Looked like she either just woke up or just got out of the shower - her hair was very full and beautiful. Thanks for doing all the hard work and testing these books out for your viewers. It really affects what I think and whether I buy it or not. Again - thanks! Tell us how your wife got the nickname (unless it's too personal).
