i was a little hesitant to watch this video because of the title but i really appreciated how you reflected on the trope. tbh a big thing for me was moving from powdered peanut butter to the real stuff. at the time, very scary but now i don't even think twice about it. loved seeing all your coffee drink creations!!

Gah you're amazing Allie! Thanks so much for being so thoughtful and kind with the creation of your videos. Totally agree that food is not the centre of life. While it brings people together, provides pleasure and memorable experiences, and is an essential part of life.. It's not the prime dictator. Food gives us the energy and nourishment to FIND and LIVE and CREATE the joy in life. Keep doing what you're doing, it's beautiful to see. Lots of love to you, Spence and lil Georgie pup all the way from New Zealand :)

This is so inspiring and well balanced (balance between food, life, goals and happiness). That "Food isn't the best thing in life, it isn't even close." Allie's series of posts discussing food and eating disorder isn't only for those struggling to eat sufficiently and are underweight, I really think obese and overweight people who have become overly committed to losing weight and have formed obsessive and extreme intermittent fasting regiments need to hear her advice. You can tell she has internalized the professional advice and therapy she has undergone and her conclusions from research are very well rounded and reasonable. Its all the things you already know are true, put into a very personal and relatable self-story. Thank you Allie for posting this and your other similar vulnerable share-outs.

Glad to hear you're making progress in your relationship with food, Allie O. Diet culture (especially if your source of info is the internet, as it is for most people these days) is toxic and can be obsessive, which is never healthy. Enjoying your food is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective.

Well well done, Allie . . . super inspiring and so needed! We need not to be afraid of food, enjoy food and fuel your own body for what you do in a day! It’s all individual and ain’t nobody got time for restricting, weighing, any other type of disordered habit! Great perspective!

I am so happy to view this video after also watching the emotional trauma you suffered a year ago. It must have been so cathartic for you when making and especially seeing what your progress has been. I am not talking about your running, which is always fabulous to see, but the positive psychological change in your everyday eating 💕

Thanks Allie. Loved this video and so great to see the variety of foods. I hate when people say I eat oatmeal for breakfast and grilled salmon with salad for dinner and …. Eat different foods, variety over the day and the week and the month.

Great video, one of the best I've seen about diet and exercise. I'm somewhat more restrictive in what I eat (and I'm lazy about shopping) but only because I don't mind being bored. In the past though I have tended to be a bit too rigid about what I eat. Thanks for another great video, it made me think.
@Joel-57472 жыл бұрын
Burrito slap lol but for real appreciate your perspective and sharing. Acknowledging fear and seeing food more as a relationship (eating, selecting, harvesting) I think is helpful for most folks. It's always been easy to train but refueling can become a chore when I don't practice some creativity/flexibility and have some enjoyable snacks ready. "Food isn't the best thing in life" Agreed

Thank you for sharing. I know many of us have troubled relationships with food. I was an overweight child and bullied, I turned anorexic and lost so much weight and was bullied again. I had a hard time. Even when anorexic I only saw the fat kid I used to be. I was able to get past that but too far past to the point I was more than 100lbs overweight. I've now lost most of that weight but I can say that it's still a very difficult relationship and I applaud you for your success moving forward and for being so open with us about your struggles. Heart you.

I love this, that you want to make a positive contribution rather than just add to the confusing messages about food. In addtion, I love Tiffany Haddish's What I Eat in a Day, if anyone is looking for another completely honest and genuine WIEIAD devoid of trends and fads. Her breakfast is super hearty but balanced and she's very food/appetite positive and you can tell that she is comfortable in her skin but probably still leads a healthy lifestyle as far as exercise and whatnot.

A very good message, bravo! Anorexia and bulimia are very serious physical and mental health issues especially for younger girls. It's not uncommon for young, smaller girls to find early success in distance running only to have their bodies change in a normal healthy way that hinders running performance. It can be difficult for a very young athlete to adjust from an "elite" runner to just a really good runner. Pressure to maintain and improve intensifies with media attention and college recruitment letters sent to your first period class. The risk of identifying your success in life predominantly on running is real. Some of these athletes are willing to risk health by withholding food in hopes to maintain performance and preserve their status as a runner only to develop a downward spiraling eating disorder. Your right, you can't say "what I eat is what you should eat" because each person's nutritional needs are unique as is as is a healthy body type. Hopefully your channel continues to encourage healthy eating habits in conjunction with a passion for the great sport of running.
