I am from south India and it is fun watching people trying out our food. Bhujia is just eaten as a snack and on top on chat like you said. The papodam (or you can call it pappad/appadam etc) usually we fry it in oil so that it becomes crunchy and we eat it with rice and sambar. If you can find a spicy version of papodam and top it with onion, tomatoes, chillies, coriander finely chopped/diced and lemon, salt and pepper it will make a nice snack/appetizer.
@GoodEatings3 жыл бұрын
hi vidya, thank you for giving me such great insight! I love all the food I've tried from your region of india, so yummy :) I have had that kind of papodam before at a restaurant as a starter, it was a delight! maybe I should brave the deep frying at home for that crunchy goodness :)
@AA-ps7bm3 жыл бұрын
Popadom you can microwave. Break them up in medium size. Then micro about a minute. Keep checking to see it doesn't burn. Healthy and nice to eat.

This sounds crazy, but you can usually microwave pappadams and they will be light and fluffy with no oil. I usually cook mine for 1 minute.

@@GoodEatings I put mine in my hot oven (when I'm baking something else usually) for also 1 min and they puff up like they were fried too! This and the microwave "hack" is even printed on the packaging of the papadum we get imported in France

Hi Malin, lovely video as usual. I am from South India myself. You can put the pappodoms in the microwave for 20-40 sec each in 20 sec increment it will be crispy as fried but with no oil. Enjoy!

you can roast the popadums as well on flame or in the pan till they develop spots , they become crunchy then too , and i like roasted more then fried

Ah! I’m drinking cold brewed mint tea as I watch this! I love it. So refreshing! That potato salad and tofu looks beautiful - I’ve never seen herb tofu like that where I live! I must say a summer staple for me is the pickled onion recipe you shared a few years ago? It goes on everything! 🤩

Yum, that sounds wonderful Lindsay! Glad you like the look of the salad and hopefully someone will come out with some herb marinated tofu where you live soon. 😊 I'm always topping stuff with those onions too, glad they've stuck with you 🙌🤗

Make masala papad ... roast the papad on flame ... no need to fry ! Add chopped tomatoes, onion , cucumber , coriander and spices !!! Very yummy
@GoodEatings3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this tip! I'll decibel try it over the flame 😊🙌
@mansi17473 жыл бұрын
Use tongs , low flame , try not to burn ... keep rotating with help of tongs ... In restaurant, fried masala papad is available ... but at home , I don’t like to consume too much fried and oily stuff , so directly roast on flame ... healthier choice as we eat often so ... !
@mansi17473 жыл бұрын
You can use a skillet also to cook ... heat the skillet ... put the papad , little tiny bubbles will appear... cook properly light yellow hue will appear on either side ... less chance of burning than flame ... especially if you’re trying first time ... no need of oil ... on flame be quick ...!
