@@amanda.outside yay! I am very excited! I recently got a cast iron skillet, and I want to make sure I don't ruin it while camping 😅 THAN YOU in advance
@radram1573 жыл бұрын
Wash the iron with soap and RINSE thoroughly with hot water. Then burn it dry on your stove at home. When it's completely dry, wipe it with a paper towel and olive oil. Rub it in all over while it's still on the fire til it's almost dry. Turn off fire and let it cool before hanging up or packing away. This way you've removed all the cast iron residual dust from manufacturer. You can also rub in a garlic clove at the same time you rub in the oil. The best "seasoning" for irons is make a spaghetti sauce then just rinse out real good and always, always burn dry!

Hope you show the frittata recipe. That sounds yum! Save time and assemble the kabobs at home. There are plenty of containers that are just the right size and you can lay them in one and seal it up. If you like them flavored, the night before you leave, marinade them in whatever you like…teriyaki is a good one…pour off the marinade and place in container. You can pre-cook and freeze ahead of time things like rice and noodles. Pack them in your cooler as an extra cold pack.

Do you bring your own grill? Or was that provided by the park? And how do you clean the ones provided by the park?
@amanda.outside3 жыл бұрын
I pretty much always bring my own grill, but I actually forgot it on this trip and got lucky that the fire pit you saw in the video was new, and the grill was in good condition! Usually the grill grates at campgrounds are pretty dirty, so that's why I prefer to bring my own. For cleaning, I've found that if you crumple up a piece of aluminum foil, that acts as a scrub brush in a pinch to get the grit off. Then I rinse it with water and repeat the process until it's clean. But again, I pretty much always pack my own grill, so that I don't have to worry about that while camping!
