Jackson Werner I was blessed to come from a solid Catholic family so I can't relate having to deal with parents in that situation but I imagine it would be difficult. That's a spot on quote by Fulton sheen, so many lies and misconceptions about the Catholic faith out there keeping many blind and ignorant to the truth. Also I've been watching old videos of Fulton sheen the last few days what a great man of God he was, I could listen to him for hours.

I also converted last year. My parents are very supportive, but most of my friends show no interest in my new found faith. We always used to talk for hours, but now there is nothing. Sometimes it is a lonely road, but knowing all the angels and saints are with us, Mary is our mother and Jesus is our loving Saviour, Lord,Redeemer and friend.

Like here in the Philippines we have Couples for Christ, Singles for Christ, Youth for Christ,etc. We usually have prayer meetings, bible study, outreach programs, fellowships, camps, conferences.

Yeah cradle Catholic here too. I felt betrayed after learning about Vat 2 and how much it changed everything for the worse then found Traditional Catholicism. Just reading the Baltimore Catechism taught me more than 15 years of Church and Catholic school did. I highly recommend watching Archbishop Fulton Sheens old videos and the videos by Fr. Hesse (he wad a theologian appoint by JP2 with doctorate in Canon Law and Thomistic Theology. He explains how everything went wrong with Vatican 2.

Vatican II was not terrible or wrong. The church did need to modernize some of its ways. The Latin mass may be beautiful, but people can't understand it. But the Theology of the Body was in it as later explained by JP II as was opening up the Catechism to the laity. The problem really was the church in the 60s and 70s was more influenced by the culture than by Vatican II. We lost our way, but the last three Popes have each brought us back in their own ways. This is not new. The Church has meandered before from the bright path. But God will always give us the leaders we need if we ask Him for them. We are the Church and We can heal our Church. We must be His hands and feet in this world. All of us, not just the clergy. But yes we were not taught well - but We can fix that too. Scott Hahn, Jeff Cavins and Christopher West are all great resources for learning about the Bible, the Church and Catholic Sexuality. But We have to keep learning and growing. And then teach others and help them move forward too. We are the Church.

In all truth though, Vatican II didn't change things as much as some dissenters say. I agree that there should have been better supplementation, stuff that wasn't really reinforced until 2007, however, the Novus Ordo was to introduce common vernacular into the teachings, but the normative language is still Latin. The only other major differences was the participation of the laity. I fully understand the negativity towards Vatican II, but people should be well aware of the actual truth to it and not fall into traps from anti-Catholics set up concerning it. It IS a valid Mass. I love that the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum in 2007 reestablished more dominantly, the Traditional Mass. That part should have been put into Vatican II, however, much of the far swing was through gross overinvestment into laxity, rather that what is actually in Vatican II. Both Masses are totally valid, as confirmed by no less than 3 Popes. Rejection of this is rejection of the Church and you might as well be a Protestant at that point, because they thought the same thing.

Ever since I've converted too Christianity I've been a Protestant Pentecostal, lately I've been feeling very disillusioned with Protestantism mainly because we all say "Sola Scrptura!" And we claim that the Scripture is our ultimate authority, but what I see is people divided and some in heresy, there are thousands of denominations all claiming they believe the Bible but they all claim different truths, watching you go through this journey has really put my mind toward Catholicism. Yes, I was just about to say this. There are so many who grow up in Christian homes; whether Catholic, Orthodox, or any other denomination, who stray away when they get old enough. Your parents should be thankful that you're such a passionate Catholic, rather than passionately not wanting anything to do with anything Christianity. I agree. There are so many choices in the religio-spiritual marketplace today: Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam, Neopaganism. Your parents should be thankful you stuck to Christianity, even if it's a form they don't approve of, but then again, I too have relatives who are COC and even though it's not official dogma anymore, many COCs think they're the only ones going to heaven.

As a practitioner of NFP using mostly the Billing's Method for 13 years, my wife and I have spaced out our 3 children. She also has a lot of health issues. NFP helped a lot in that it removed artificial hormones as a factor. It turns out a lot of her issues are auto-immune and depression related that a radical change in her diet helped. We wouldn't have discovered that if we were masking a lot of her symptoms with hormonal birth control. I will say that NFP does rely heavily on communication and self control because there will be a lot of times when you desire affection, but have to learn to express this in different ways. Done right, it can increase intimacy because it encourages you to communicate to each other during these times.

I will summarize our convictions in the following points: #1. JESUS FOUNDED ONE CHURCH. MATTHEW 16:18-19 18. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build MY CHURCH, and the gates of Hades WILL NOT OVERCOME IT. 19. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” EPHESIANS 4:3-6 "ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM, ONE GOD AND FATHER OF ALL". "If he, a sinning brother, refuses to listen EVEN TO THE CHURCH, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector". (Mt 18:17) #2. JESUS WANTS UNITY. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may BE ONE, as WE ARE ONE, 23. This is the constant message for all of us Christians to follow, throughout Scriptures: ●Ephesians 4:2: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." ● 1 Peter 4:8: “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." ●John 15:12: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." Why love? Because LOVE UNITES and unity with Him and one another is essential for our survival against the forces of evil who want to tear us apart. #7 ONE CHURCH HAS THE TRUTH JOHN 16, 13 13. When the SPIRIT of TRUTH comes, He WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL THE TRUTH; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. If you believe God as ONE Holy Trinity, then you should have no problem in accepting Jesus' demand for UNITY when He warned them that: "every kingdom divided against itself shall be made desolate: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matthew 12:25). Jesus Christ, the God-man, founded the RELIGION OF CHRISTIANITY by establishing HIS ONE TRUE CHURCH (Matt. 16:18-19) and commanding his apostles to make disciples of all nations, meaning a “CATHOLIC,” or universal, CHURCH (Matt. 28:18-20) till the end of times. ■ACCEPTING JESUS Regarding your Protestant "acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior through the recitation of ‘the sinner’s prayer", I can confirm that it was never taught by Jesus, His Apostles or the early Church. This is a Baptist invention. This is actually what you must do and be: ●ACTS 2:38-39 38. And Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39. As a lukewarm cradle catholic I had no problem with my lukewarm cradle catholic family. Now that I'm a real catholic (..I'm trying... it's so demanding...not a wide door...) my husband, my children, my mother too think I'm exaggerating, I'm an ayatollah, I'm some sort of fanatic, irrational person. I have been watching them all because I am currently in the process of converting to Catholicism and I really connect with all of your feelings of converting from Protestantism. I am marrying a Catholic and he introduced me to the church. I grew up Protestant and was VERY involved in my church my entire life. I connect with you on so many things and it really helps me feel like I’m not the only one. For example, I feel very sad because I LOVE my Foursquare church and now I am breaking relationships with people there because we can no longer connect and that devastates me. Also, I haven’t told my parents yet that I’m in the process of converting and I know it’s going to hurt them and break them. I don’t want to disappoint them so that is so hard. Also, I really feel the same thing when you said Catholicism just ruined Protestantism for you. I went back to the church I went to and it made me just really sad. It made me sad that no one wanted to learn the truth or read or learn about the deeper things in Christianity and learn about the history! It blows my mind that no one is even intrigued to know or learn. And it is insane to me that people justify “choosing” their own faith by choosing their own denomination. I can no longer justify doing that!! It’s a crazy ride but I feel like the truth has been revealed to me that I was so blind and ignorant to before. Thank you for sharing your feelings and transition into Catholicism because it has really helped me feel like I’m not the only one experiencing this and that I’m not crazy for feeling these feelings. I heard a Catholic convert once say that he speaks Catholic with a thick accent and I totally agree with that. It’s like I finally found my homeland but because I’ve been living in a foreign land this whole time I’m having to learn the language and customs of my actual home. This Easter is my husband and kids and my fourth “birthday” as Catholics and we couldn’t be happier. We also just went through a really scary time where I was hospitalized and almost died and the whole time, Jesus was literally with us, physically, and it was such a comfort. Priestscand Eucharistic ministers would bring us the Eucharist, and we even found a Tabernacle in the hospital chapel! I was able to attend Mass at the hospital chapel wearing a hospital gown and sitting in a wheelchair and it was life changing to experience that. I’m so excited to continue to follow your journey. It's been such a joy following you along on your journey, and it's so inspiring to see so many supportive comments below your conversion videos. It's exciting to see how many converts, reverts, catechumens and people just beginning their journey home into the fullness of the faith. I'm so sorry that this is so hard for your parents, it's understandably very hurtful for them right now. Keep praying for them, and be patient with them. I think that little by little, they will grow in their acceptance and will start to have their eyes opened bit by bit and start to understand Catholicism more. There is a good chance they will eventually follow you into the Church, but it could take years. Keep in mind that in Confession, you don't need really need to go into great detail and get too explicit about the sins you've committed.

Hey! So just in a practical level I think you might want to consider finding a spiritual director once you enter the church. Your hurt is 100% valid, and you might want to unpack it with a director. Most people find a priest they trust, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be a priest. Deacon’s, Sisters, or any other devout & knowledgeable Catholic is also good. I’m praying for you Lizzie! ❤️

Since you announced you are joining the Catholic church, this is the main video I've been waiting for. It was great in the last couple to hear more about your journey into the Church, but I wanted to know specific ways I could pray this Lent over the true difficulties and costs that I knew this must have entailed for you. Even as they offer the hope that it's worth it, the Gospels definitely make clear that answering God's call comes with a real cost and is going to hurt and take real courage. Knowing that some of the relationships you cherish will never be the same again, remember to commend them to God with the expectant hope that He can transform them beyond what we could ever reasonably expect to make of them ourselves. Also (just to deliberately poke at the areas you're not comfortable with yet 😊), keep in mind that we share a wonderful truly Blessed Mother and, as good mothers tend to be, she's an expert at knowing exactly what it will take to help us feel at home and comforted (even if we spend some time uncomfortable with them as we try to to figure out our identity).

With regards to acapella music, have you checked out some Gregorian Chants or Polyphonic chants? I find them amazing, especially the Polyphonic stuff. There was some amazing stuff written in England especially during the time of the Catholic persecution there. I agree Novus Ordo music totally kills it for me, and I avoid going if I can and go to EO/Latin Mass instead cause I just love the music there. You actually were part of encouraging me to go to Latin Mass and now I go every sunday and sit in contemplation for most of the mass. I also loove saying "Domine non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum, sed tantum dic verbo et sanabitur anima mea" three times before receiving the Eucharist.

Don't feel bad for missing the Missionary work in Thailand; right now, with your videos, you are doing Missionary work! I'm 29, I'm old enough and ugly enough to happily argue and defend my Catholic faith any time to any one (especially as I live in an England town that is 40% Muslim. As parent's it is our responsibility to lead our Children to true faith. I was born and Baptised Roman Catholic, and when I was your age I wanted to see other Religions and know what they were, because I too had doubts.. But I always came back to the Church. I know it is hard for your parent, but they fulfilled their responsibility, and yes it will take time. But they gave you a wonderful upbringing and God has given you a wonderful gift. I am a Catechist in my congregation and I love it. When I was young we had Nuns who taught us and I loved them. We may not have learned verse for verse but we learned so much and I am grateful for this journey. You are in a blessed place and as long as you keep up the keeping up, it may have a wonderful impact on your parents. Please do not despair, they may surprise you in time. @Sean Wu, I think I hear what you're saying, correct me if I'm wrong: it sounds like you think the 'protestant', 'lights flashing' stuff is disrespectful because it seems less reverent to you than, say, organ music or gregorian chant? While I think we need to respect and retain our rich Catholic history (of music and academia etc) I would just also say that I think we are called to see everywhere what is good and true and beautiful, and incorporate and redeem that... and our Protestant brothers and sisters have some absolutely beautiful music and incredibly infectious social personas (the enthusiasm and sincerity is undeniable) which touch the body (through the infectious enthusiasm and psychological factors of lighting/music etc) as well as the mind; I think it's actually a benefit to Catholicism for us to take the 'form' (aka the musical styles and cultural personas that are so compelling to people) and express Christ through them. I watch Steubenville conferences and the kinds of people who speak there are the kinds who helped convert me (like Jason and Crystalina Evert); some of us seem to really benefit from it, so I'm all for the diversity of form--so long as the integrity of truth and unity underneath is firmly defended.

These things you're saying that Protestants do right, like music or like bringing children into the Faith are things that you should BRING WITH YOU to Catholicism. Lizzie … Your story is a great inspiration to me. I too was raised in the Churches of Christ (Stone-Campbell), and understand completely the rollercoaster of feelings you are experiencing. I even had a connection to Pepperdine. The big (huge) difference between us is that I was not received into the Catholic Church until 2014 at the age of 60. In fact, Saint Paul-in his letter to the Collosians 1:15- calls Jesus "The image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation". Missing the denomination you were raised in is so hard, and something that I think will stick with me for a while. But same with the Marian dogmas, and the sacrament of reconciliation are some of the hardest things about being a former Protestant/new Catholic. I've found that LOTS and LOTS of prayer, and talking to a priest or religious that you trust about these topics have made my first year as a Catholic so much better! My grandma was against Catholicism, I left the community I grew up in, had a REALLY hard time accepting the birth control thing, didn’t actually go to confession for the longest time after converting, etc. confession actually helps SO MUCH with giving up many sins! In terms of mental health worries and concerns when pregnant, I also suffer from depression so it is a potential worry but our goal as Catholics is to trust in the Lord our God fully and completely, "Fiat voluntas Tua" as Mary said: "let it be done unto me according to Thy will, " before she conceived of the Holy Spirit. We can truly admire and be inspired by her full trust in God. Fiat voluntas Tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Also there are SO many saints to read up on and become best friends with: St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Rose of Viterbo, St. Alphonsus Ligouri, Sts. Benedict and Scholastica, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Gianna Molla, St. Padre Pio, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Bernard, St. Bridget, St. Catherine of Siena, they are just some of my personal patron saints who I know you will LOVE! You can look up "free traditional catholic books online" and you'll find hundreds on the first website, most of the books listed were written by saints, and the Sensus Fidelium channel on KZbin has great, solid homilies by priests about morality, family, doctrine, saints, and spiritual growth! Milca Mercado it's very difficult for someone in your position, but you just have to push the through the fear and follow the truth, and where God is calling you to be. Yes it might hurt your reputation, but the only judgement we should fear is God's (I know it's easier said than done), and it's possible that you becoming Catholic might inspire some in your congregation to start seeking truth and studying as well. Never say never about your parents relationship with you and Catholicism. God works in His timing, and since you have opened yourself to His will, he can now be totally present in you and reach your parents. For example, my father was Catholic but he was away from the church and not receiving the Eucharist for 35+ years. My mother, my sister and I offered up many days of fasting, sacrifice, prayer and novenas, and a month before my father succumbed to his cancer he went to confession and received daily communion. The night my father died, he was in full communion with the Catholic Church. Matthew 19:26 "For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible." Welcome to the Catholic Family!

I agree with you on learning the Catholic faith in America is difficult especially when I attended public school, but I realized that God is who he is and not who I say he is. I will pray for your bipolar disorder that God heals you. Lizzie you can still be a Catholic missionary in Thailand, you can become a Catholic leader and evangelize people to the Catholic Church. There are many vocations and I would ask a priest for help to decide where you can serve. My mom was a great example for me growing up, she started 2 prayer groups in two different parishes, both are thriving today and has led the one at our home parish for 20 years. That is where you can bring your songs of Jesus to us and teach us how to sing. Our prayer group is a part of the charismatic renewal that has grown in some parts of the church. We start with the rosary, read Scripture, sing for about half an hour then end the service in prayer and worship of God. With all humility toward God, don’t be afraid of this change, just make sure that you bring your true self into the Church. God bless you

It's usually at the cathedral, and its where the bishop blesses the oils used for anointing the sick, confirmation, etc. such a beautiful mass, and the cathedrals are extra beautiful. God bless you for your courage. Your witness has brought me comfort because there are many parallels to my story. I am a re-vert to my Byzantine Catholic faith. When I re-became Catholic a lot of my friends and family who are liberal took it as a betrayal and our relationship has never been the same. I know what you mean about having to keep quiet about 70% of your life just to keep the peace. It's sad, but Our Lord said it would be this way if we put Him first. He helps us through the hurt.

Confession is my favorite Sacrament after Holy Eucharist; and I swear, if it wasn't for Confession, I would have killed myself like 12 times by now. When I converted Catholic (3 years ago, Easter Vigil 2015, I was 25 then), it was so similar to everything you mentioned especially in dealing with family and friends. All of those relationships changed very dramatically and I too lost the point of connection that I had had in communicating with my parents and extended family. Prayers for you and welcome home!

It took me a while after converting to Catholicism to fall in love with the Blessed Mother. I thought the Catholics kind of dreamed up a bunch of beliefs about Mary that were not biblical. What I discovered is that the Bible is LOADED with scripture that supports the Marian doctrines - as a reference, check out "Behold Your Mother" by Tim Staples. In one of his books, Rome Sweet Home, he talks about the deep meaning of birth control and all of the questions that led him to Catholicism, and in another one, The Lamb's Supper, he talks about the Mass in parallel with Revelation. It's amazing. Also, I learn so much about my own religion with your videos! And if you love music, I recommend you search "Comunidade Católica Shalom". Is a community in Brazil that has AMAZING songs, including English. By the way, what city are you from? And you "about" session in your channel needs to be atualized! Hahaha

As a catechist, I found it funny you mentioned about relying on yourself and husband more than the Church to teach. Funny because that's the "domestic church" referenced by the Catechism #1655 and following. Sadly many Catholic parents haven't done their job because it's their responsibility to be those first announcers of the faith, not us catechists. We're supposed to reinforce the faith, not replace parents. :P Recently found your channel and really enjoy that zeal for the faith. Don't lose it, and welcome to the Church!

I wouldn't worry about the a cappella music thing, even though it's not something we do during the Mass it's something we support and there's nothing against it! Gregorian chants are a cappella! Only my second topic. The first was last December in response to an article titled "Christmas is not pagan". My response was: Pagan, by definition, is anything that is not biblical. God gave us a list of His appointed feast days and holidays according to His biblical calendar. He runs the universe according to His timetable, not ours. If we follow the biblical calendar and observe His commanded holidays, we are in synchronization with our Creator. December 25 is not a date on the biblical calendar, but it is a date on the pagan Roman calendar. Therefore, December 25 is a pagan holiday. The birth of Christ, and the celebration of His birth are not pagan. But the celebration on a specific date that we definitely know to be the wrong date is pagan.

The Roman church is so obsessed with Mary that it cannot see the forest for the trees. Your words "through Mary came" implies that Mary was somehow responsible for saving the world and bestowing upon it "obedience and life." Mary is a servant of God. She willingly agreed to be the earthly mother of Jesus as part of God's plan for the world. Mary did not come up with the plan to save the world. She was as shocked as anyone, when the angel appeared. If the plan had been hers, she would have said to the angel "Well, it's about time that you got here." God's plan was on the table long before Mary came into existence. Your concept of Mary is just another man-made tradition that the prophets and Jesus did not teach, and which none of the original apostles or early Christians followed.

GIRL. I totally understand how it feels to strain or sever friendships when becoming Catholic. I'm technically a cradle Catholic revert, but much of my family isn't religious, and my friends since I was a teen were either not religious or pagan. (I was Wiccan for five years so quite different from your situation on the part ) but when I became Catholic, many of my friendships are now strained and some of my family relationships are as well. it is hard but it is worth it
