Thanks for this! ♥️ My almost nine year old is SOOO a tween! She has stopped playing with all toys (except Lego) and has morphed into being obsessed with art, art supplies, and craft kits. She is an outside, all natural, nature girl, too. No interest in jewelry, makeup, clothes, etc. I am finding gifting challenging this year! I’ve started carefully observing her and taking notes surreptitiously on my phone. 😊 Pretty sure it’s going to be quite the artsy themed birthday. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It can be so tricky but I love that you have been taking notes and really trying to gift her things that will help her feel seen instead of a generic gift for a girl in her age range! That truly shows how much you love her and support her growth. I hope she has a wonderful 9th birthday!

About the scribble scrubbies be aware that they should be rinised off once you are done. If you leave them colorful it will be harder to clean them/could be stained. Also the brush is just a cute accessory not needed to clean them. Just rinse under water.

Actually tween (or preteen) is defined as ages 9-12. It’s the stage between little kid and adolescence.

In my house my 9 year old is NOT a “tween”. She’s a little girl. Definitely no need to rush.

I totally understand that and agree- 9 and 12 year olds are very different developmentally. I’m just saying I think she titled the video “tween” so it could help cover a whole range of ages for her viewers, as a lot of kids around those ages like the same things. In my psych class we just went over why 9-12 is classified as a tween. Simply because they aren’t a little kid anymore, but also not a teenager yet. Every kid is different though and it’s more just a label!

Definitely not trying to rush it. If anything I’m trying to savor every last day with them as little girls but by definition in both psychology and childhood development. She’s technically a tween this year. It’s between years 9-12.
