We don't celebrate christmas, but we give our children gifts every year around this time. At first we gifted too much. And we noticed they just didn't appreciate it as much. I didn't want them to become spoiled and ungrateful, so... Since a couple of years we're doing things differently. They can pick one gift they really want, one gift they need, one experience (like a theme park or something like that), and a gift to give away to someone who needs it. It's shocking how this impacted their behaviour. Every year we donate some stuff too for kids who can't afford new toys. They enjoy it so much. Giving really makes them happier.😊 It's also great to keep my house minimalistic.😉

There is St. Nick day two weeks before Christmas that is celebrated amoung Catholics. On that day, kids put out their shoes and St. Nick will come and put in some coins (and sometimes replace their shoes too), but also kids will leave out toys they don't need anymore for St. Nick to give to other kids on Christmas day (as Santa Clause). St. Nick will take those toys and then when Christmas comes replace those toys with new toys. It's a similar concept to what you said-- I enjoy this a lot more than just giving your kids presents because they really do begin to appreciate how fortunate they are!

I love that you give your kids thrifted gifts. I have a 6 month old and most of her clothes and toys I have bought second hand. I wash them up and they are good as new! Babies grow out of clothes so fast that I would rather buy them used. Great video. Merry Christmas!

For the rocking horse to fix it you could put fabric in the center (something heavy duty like leather) or add some padding and then fabric
@mievancha5 жыл бұрын
I had the same idea, but thought of some grey or beige linen :)

The rocking horse seat is done in a technique called caining which can really only be repaired by “re-caining” so taking it off and re doing it. BUT I think if you took a piece of canvas and sewed it over the existing caining it would be plenty sturdy enough and last for a long time as well as be much easier and require way less effort and special materials!
@pamelasalas76625 жыл бұрын
I was going to say take it all off and weave some thick twine. But i bet that as the kids start getting heavier it would eventually start to sag
@vivibee39435 жыл бұрын
I was going to say the same. I'd suggest taking a piece of sturdy fabric (felt or even leather are easy as they don't fray) and attach that to cover up that part. You could cut it in a sort of oval shape so that it'll look like canvas throw that you sometimes see on horses? Sorry for the bad explanation but yeah 😂 love the gifts you got!

for the rocking horse, you could always add small dowel rods to the underpart for support and then cover the caning that is broken with some tweed fabric. I know it might be hard to find an exact match for the caning but etsy and amazon sell caning.... lovely gifts!

My older daughter is 2,5 and babygirl is turning 7months on the 25th so I can totally relate ❤️ I love everything you got for your kids. I would get them a lot of presents too, but we live in an apartment in the city, so space is limited. What I find difficult is buying for the little one since everything gets passed on from her older sister... Everybody constantly asks me what they could get her but she basically has everything. I feel bad for her not getting her "own" toys and clothes.

So, they are each getting a board game (very similar games, but with slight differences) and then i also bought a necklace for each of them

I thought of this when you mentioned the horse in the last video. For the rocking horse, if you dont mind covering the wicker saddle, you might be able to make a homemade pillow saddle on top of where they are to sit and have it attached to the horse some how. Just an idea. Love your videos.

Hello, just a quick question: will you be giving the cleaning set, doll, doll house, tea set etc (things that we usually associate to female activities) to your son when he grows up? Or are they toys that only your daughter will get to play with?
@LoeppkysLife5 жыл бұрын
All toys given to either of our kids are played with by both of them, not just one gender. Last year we bought Eloise lots of cars and toys that are typically considered “boy” toys. We give according to what they like, not the gender it’s traditionally associated with :)
