Very interesting. One thing I like to carry in my tank bag is some tissues in a zip lock bag and a small spray bottle with either diluted dish washing liquid or window cleaner, very handy for cleaning my helmet visor, especially in summer when there is lots of bugs.

A little late to the game. Great video... Can I suggest for the tank bag: - a small note book/pad with pencil or pen - a little bit of money for toll roads/bridges and such - some energy food or candy to nibble on I use a small tank bag and it only carries necessaties I may need without getting off the bike. Additional stuff with my camel back on my back and a small bag tied to the back of the bike. That is, immediate access without getting off the bike in the tank bag, intermediate access on my back, and stuff I may need without delving into my panniers.

WOW, very detailed and easy to follow explanation. You really have mastered packing your tank bag, I guess after all the trips you have taken, you have figured out the best system that works for you. Thank you for sharing, I will definitely adopt some of your practices. I already compartmentalise most of my little things like charges/cables/camera mounts in their own dedicated pouches. It is a good idea to keep things in their dedicated places, then it will be easier to find quickly. Good job, thank you again for explaining and sharing your know-hows!

I have pretty much the same arrangement. No action cameras yet 😀, but instead I have also: Wet wipes, a small spray for my glasses & the visor, a wind proof lighter (I don’t smoke), a spare base layer to change in the summer or to add to the one I ware in the winter. Rain cover of the tank bag is a pain. I lost mine while riding...🙁
@motorcycleadventures6 жыл бұрын
Of course, every bag needs to be customized for the rider. All the best!
@pauldavison21166 жыл бұрын
I HATE my rain cover for my tank bag. Even with the big windshield it collects air under it and puffs up like a big balloon. It then makes it impossible to see my gauges and read the map without fighting to push it down. Before the next trip I am going to figure if I can use my head flashlight's elastic band to clamp it down on the sides so air does not get under neath and puff it up or use some sort of cord/bungee. A little trick to save your covers from getting lost. Attach a short length of paracord the covers to the bags. Lost a pannier rain cover one time so now everything is attached to everything.

Have you tried a mini bike..?
@truthxposed89756 жыл бұрын
Jason Wilson I rode KX60, KX80, YZ80, KTM125. I used to race dirt bikes when I was younger. I've sat on Ninja, CBR, Yamaha 250's. I like the naked style, the issue is my arms and legs are too short. I need a bike that's the size of the kids Euro mini GP. That's the best way I can describe it. They dont even sell them in the U.S. I've even thought about buying a dirt bike and putting street tires on it.

Have you thought about a Kawasaki ER5? 500 cc so a proper bike, but very low too. That's what I ride, I'm 5' 7" and feel like and NBA player when sat on it, flatfooting with my knees bent a bit. At 5' you'd be on you toes, but surely it should work. If not - think about a low bike with a custom low seat and boots with a high sole.
@caffeineman726 жыл бұрын
I know this is a not the style you may prefer - but the Rebel 500 and Vulcan 650 may be a better fit while giving you a bit of a "sport bike" feel in a low seat cruiser package.

Nice vid - thanks Pavlin. Good to see someone doing it similar. I also swear on my tankbag. The only downside is that it is not water resistant/proof. As I see you also have to fiddle around with that !#?&% raincover. I'd really like to have exactly my bag waterproof. Especially on the british isles with coming on, going of sometimes ever half hour and that many viewpoints every few miles. Then it is a pain to remove the cover which leaves some water on the bag very time. Also the raincover fills with ait when riding above 30km/h. That's annoying and and blocks part of the view to my instruments. I feel it really is a shame that there are so few waterproof tankbags out there. Take care - ride safe and enjoy your life!

Pavlin, could you comment on the magnets in your tank bag? How strong are they? I find some tank bags have weak magnets that do not withstand strong winds and the bag gets blown away, which can be really distracting and dangerous while riding. Cheers, Govind

For travelling, yes a tank bag is more useful and practical; but for everyday use, at least for me, a tope case is way more practical, just throw your helmet, gloves and go do your stuff. Another point important for me regarding tank bag: it must be 100% waterproof and not too big to annoy me off road. But I carry more or less the same
