Sonic Youth announced a reissue of Walls Have Ears. A while back, I got my hands on an original 1986 double-LP bootleg of the release, and I dig into it in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX-QoZKbmLWZgJI

Sister is my favorite from them. I mean, it's why I watched your video. I liked Bad Moon Rising too, which I listened to before Sister, but Sister clinched it for me. Brilliant.

Exactly. I still have plenty I need to dig into further, but Sister is the one cemented me as a fan. Thanks for chiming in!

Sister is truly wild music. It can't be contained.

Agree. It’s one of my favorites by Sonic Youth for sure!

I come back to sister constantly. Its stood the test of time. Creepy at times, beautiful as well. That hazy Sears studio sound really nailed it

Absolutely! Such a phenomenal record and under appreciated when it comes to their full catalog, in my opinion

I'm glad to come across someone whose favorite SY album is "Sister", as it is mine as well. "Daydream Nation" gets all the plaudits, and it is a very fine album to be sure, but "Sister" has not only innovative, catchy songs but a cohesiveness that works better than the other albums, not to mention that it's not too long(!). As a suggestion for a review, maybe do "Today's Active Lifestyles" by Polvo, one of my favorite albums of all time, and one that I equate in vibe to "Sister". Thanks for the review!

I'll have to check that Polvo album out; it's not in my collection at the moment. I agree with you about the length; Daydream Nation is great, but it's just too damn long at times.

One of the rawest, angriest pieces of music ever released. Great vid!

Its the only Sonic Youth album i own on vinyl.

I have a (UK) Blast First pressing of Sister, it has the sideways Disneyland photo, but not the picture of the girl. Not sure how i never noticed the censorship before. I agree that Sister is probably better than Daydream Nation - it's my 2nd favorite Sonic Youth album, behind EVOL (1st SY LP i ever heard/owned).

Sister is a standout from early SY catalog but I like Evol and Bad Moon Rising a little more. So many to choose from, but would love reviews of Murray Strret or Sonic Nurse. BTW, NYC Ghosts & Flowers is underrated gem

Ya know, I'm not sure he touched much at all on NYC Ghosts & Flowers in the memoir. And I feel he kinda glossed over Sonic Nurse. But, I do have that one in the schedule to cover in the next few months given it turns 20 in 2024...

did you fail to mention Kim Gordans brother who the album is about?
