i love how your art is just based on basic shapes and form, and then you let the viewer fill the gaps of those shapes, making it even more interesting to look at even tho the basic concepts of your form doesnt necessary create complex details, or even exact shapes, a good example of this is the phone u draw, its not a perfect rectangle, or even trying to match the phone shape, it just a shape measured by eye, and yet it just feels right, my point here is that the art you create is created in such a simple and basic way yet the viewers brain makes the extra work of "filling the gaps" to make the piece a lot more eye catching than other artist

That was lowkey an incredible lesson to watch, I felt several brain gears turning just by watching you translate the shadows in the photo to the illustration. Noras secret weapon is her great taste in aesthesics, I got so many great inspirations from seeing her gushing out on twitter about some random fashion thing I'd never even have known exists otherwise. Her game is on an entirely different level from the average cosplayer. And yeah she's also hot. And come on, guys, what's more likely: Marco Bucci not knowing Chainsaw Man, or him knowing how the YT comment section works a little too much? xD

this is a very common thing in anime style illustrations where they make the shadows really light (like 80% brightness or more in a multiply layer), because in those character illustrations it's more about showing off the designs, costumes and poses rather than showing light and atmosphere. In a sense they're minimizing the effect of shadows so that it still shows a bit of form but doesn't interfere with the main themes. If they want the form of something to stand out more, they would give it a darker and more reflective material (black glossy hair, black leather shoes, black tights 😏) so that the highlights bring out the form more. Another reason is because heavily rendered anime faces look quite uncanny so they do everything they can to flatten the face as much as possible 😂

And the reason why the shadow is blurry like that is because it’s very diffused light? And it must be powerful enough and focused in a smallish spot to cast a shadow so dark. But I can see multiple values in shadow separated. This must be because so many bounces can be made with the outer parts of shadow, however, the inner parts have a tough time being hit by bounced light (the outer part of the arm with the phone and left part of the waist in the photo

@calintz9997Ай бұрын
This light vs shadow choice boils down to stylizing vs realism but also can be justified with specific lighting. If the key light is directional and there is hardlly any fill light or bounce lights.. all shadow values will converge to similar dark values. But if there is only strong fill light and bounce lights then each local value will remain in its shadow family more or less, also values ranges will be narrower too. But, at then of the day, Ambient Occlusion always occur... I guess in this case, this is where stylization takes over 🙂

@Rishabh_BahugunaАй бұрын
Its true, but here he's talking about the value(as whole img is somewhat black&white), each value differentiate itself from surrounding to make the image read more easily. Using 2-3 different values for the painting would be great for study purpose, but seperating groups of values for each object/material would make image more easy to read.

That's Kobeni from Chainsaw Man, which started as a black-and-white manga and is now more commonly known from its anime adaptation. So yeah, that analysis of the shape language pretty much nailed why it has those elements: because they're good for animation and grayscale.
