I was also confused by that. But since he is running a car business, he may need his car to be "liked" by most ir not all customers. Thus a car, which is hated by some people, is simply bad advertisement. At my company it is even mandatory (management decided) to only rent Mercedes or Audi when we visit customers (we are doing B2B business with only major global corporations). Thus, I can understand the marketing reason. For a private car it would indeed make sense to simply keep it. But heck, some people buy a car with the intent to only drive it for less than 5 years. It's a valid hobby. Just not a necessarily cheap one.

It doesn't take away auto pilot forever. It suspends it for 30 days. Then it reactivates. They can't take away a feature you paid $10K for. In fact, it's pretty ridiculous that they have any kind of power in a vehicle you own to take away features. Seems like they are pushing the limits of legality. Interesting comment. If, the stainless steel sheet metal has enough nickel content magnets would not attach themselves. I suspect, the "stainless" used in the CT has a low nickel element. That's why many owners see discolouration even after only a few days sitting in the rain. I worked in the marine industry for over 20 years. And, the only stainless that resists salt water is 316 spec (or higher), that is high nickel content stainless. Don't think we're seeing that grade here. 316 is over twice the cost. I'd stake my life on the fact CT isn't clad in 316. Ever bought a Chinese "stainless" BBQ and found that it disintegrates in two years.

The Tesla key cards can be purchased from Tesla or you can buy them from ebay for about $20 each. Tesla will reprogram them for $20 if you get locked out of your car. However, that is a major hassle as you have to prove you own the car first. I own two Teslas and have created backup key cards. You can easily create a new key card as long as you have at least a working one, or you can create a key card using your cell phone if its been configured as a key.

It's a six month old vehicle (six months less warranty), with 6.5k miles on the odometer and a '24 build date on it. On top of that, it's an EV. If you can get 4/5 of the initial purchase price back, grab the money and run. Personally, given the fact that you can now get a brand new one for $80k with a $7.5k rebate, I'd be flat out paying $60 k for it, and that might be all you get for it in a months time, if you're not careful. This is nothing new with high end cars. This is the reality. And Tesla's discounting has kicked their used prices to the kerb (and their customers in the teeth).
