I am 47 years old now. Started riding trial bikes at the age of 14 I think. I've had many different bikes and have now "downgraded" to an Intruder M800. It only has around 55 horsepower, but it does exactly what I need it to do. Many of my friends still scuff at bikes below 1000cc, but I don't care. I keep up with all of them doing the speed limit and my bike is really good on fuel. And it's super comfortable. The things we appreciate when we get older 😂

I have also become more aware on traffic, calmer on my daily life and I get the itches if I didn't ride that day. Not to mention the community, when two bikers see each other you can comfortably go and talk to them since you already have a thing you mutually enjoy. I hope to ride for my entire life. A big thanks to you Yammie on your 10th (cough) anniversary! I've been a huge MotoGP fan and I'd been dreaming about riding my whole life. Your channel and love of riding helped inspire me to actually do it. I finally got my first bike at 61 years old last October. I trained all winter ( whenever the weather permitted) based primarily on your advice and Simon Crafar's "motovudu". And I finally did my first real track day yesterday. To my surprise one of the instructors asked me if I already had experience with motor-sports, but I was too nonplussed to come up with an explanation. Really, it was good advice and lots of practice. It may have helped that I've watched every MotoGP race from Rossi onwards at least 3 times, but I had also memorized the lines for the track based on a you tube video from the track record holder. To everyone who is thinking about it, you're probably not to old! You can find low traffic roads in your area and practice just about everything at legal speeds. Find a few curves where there is nothing to run into if you make a mistake, make sure there is not traffic or road hazards and have at it. Also, a second thanks to Yam for giving the RS 660 such great reviews, it's everything he says it is and is the perfect bike for me. I wouldn't recommend it for every beginner but if you are mature enough to be careful and leave it in commute mode for the first few 1000 miles you'll be fine.

The bike is extremely street rideable while still turning into a monster when you hit 9000rpm. The XR is definitely not a first bike, not even a second bike, and maybe a third bike for an exclusive few. My dream bike used to be a CVO, now its a M1000XR. 205hp turns my crank.

Love your channel Yam, you approach riding with a level of maturity that’s good for young riders to see. My Dad is in his 70’s and has ridden his whole life. He’s had loads of sports tourers and recently picked up a street triple. I just turned 41 and looking to get my full license (UK). I want a cruiser, it embodies my approach to motorcycling. Laid back, feeling the wind and freedom. My Dad hates cruisers with a passion but respects we’re all different and should do whatever we enjoy. Not street racing though, endangering other road users and pedestrians is not cool. Anyway safe riding and keep up the great work!

I was happy to see your videos about the ZX-4RR. I really like the ZX-4RR as my beginner bike as it has a small 4 cylinder engine. Wonderful video as always, and I agree with you in every respect. I am a rider-stopped-for-many-years-riding-again (born again?) biker at 48! :-) I started on bikes at 9 years old. Once you ride it is in your soul and your being resonates with bike and road like little else in the material world. I am still and always will be learning, which is why it is so amazing. Over the decades I have owned an 80cc Cagiva (the beautiful Lucky Explorer), a 600cc Yamaha Diversion, a 1992 Kawasaki 250ZZR, and now a Honda CB750 Hornet. I have also recently ridden a Yamaha 600cc single, a Tiger 900 GT, and a KTM 1260 SuperDuke. Every bike is a world in and of itself. Like you, I have presently found my home with the Hornet for daily chores, weekend tours, and for long-distance travel. It is an absolute blast on Highways but is ridiculously fun on twisting country roads. And here in Spain, both roads and landscapes are a-ma-zing! My kids love the Hornet too. My wife tolerates it lovingly. I still want to explore off-roading on a small, light bike, so that is a to-do. Keep up the great work, vince in bono malum, and enjoy the goodness of it all!

Also, as a motorcycle mechanic, I get to ride everything! So cool! My favorite standard street bikes for the last several years is the Yammy MT09 and the Kawi Z900s. Especially a sucker for the green retro style. Good stuff!

I just got my license last year and bought a 2013 Kawasaki Er-6n last October. I'm amazed at how quickly it accelerates in 2nd gear and I'm a bit scared to find out how much faster the 750 and litre bikes accelerate. I bet they are gonna feel like rockets compared to my bike. But it gets great gas mileage and is very comfortable (although outside the city the wind becomes my enemy). Been watching your channel for more than a year now. Great videos man, keep it up!

I’m 17 and I just got my endorsement three weeks ago and after watching your channel for so long it has helped so much. Right now I ride a Honda RC51 (SVT1000) and it is definitely overkill for the street. I’ve been riding dirtbikes since I was 7 and I have been racing at track days for a year now and you’re advice is very helpful and new riders should definitely consider it.

I'm 62. First bike was a 1984 Kawasaki 550 LTD. Due to financial issues I had to unload it. 2 years ago I got back into it with a Honda pcx 150. Scary at 55 on the interstate. Last year I upgraded after watching your videos and others to a CFMOTO 300nk. I love this bike, but in the beginning I almost killed myself as it is so torkie in first gear. I had to relearn proper shifting and breaking. The first year I'll admit I was a little afraid to lean in on turns, but now it's not an issue. You never stop learning. And I've found that not riding like a fool is a game changer.

I absolutely loved this video! I'm glad you're pushing people to be more responsible. That's how we are going to get more respect on the road, and generally, more riders on the road. All those "influencers" out there posting videos of themselves riding recklessly and risking their lives and the lives of others are idiots. As soon as I have the money to do so, I'll join/subscribe to your Yammie Noob community/Patreon/Discord online.

14:55 I don’t have a motorcycle yet, but when I do, I will always wear most of the year all the time because I’ve recently crashed my bicycle going relatively fast for bicycle several times and didn’t have the best gear on or just had a pair of jeans and got really badly skinned up each time and it took almost a month to heal.

I probably said this before on this channel but i say it again... Proper gear protected me when i had an accident, while i received bruisers and sore knees and apart from that i was fine. As for the maintance, check the age and wear on your tires, you don`t want to ride on worn and old rubber like i did for a while. New tires almost transforms the bike, so much better grip and confidence in both cornering and braking. Also keep an eye on the brakes, brake pads are somewhat cheap and easy to do most of the time, you need good brakes front to back.

You’re probably my biggest inspiration and reason for me getting my motorcycle license last year at the young age of 31 lol. Started with a little 125 used that to get my license and about a week ago upgraded to a cbr500r just wanted to say thank you and I honestly don’t think I could have done it without your guidance

Couldn’t agree more about the power or general the specs thing. Because after all you’re not riding the spec sheet…it’s about the feeling and the fun. So just enjoy your ride and don’t let yourself get fooled into thinking you need something „bigger“ or better. I own a ~150hp MV Agusta, a big cruiser…and a Moto Guzzi V7 with only 65hp. Guess which one I’m using most? Yep, it’s the Guzzi. Never fails to make me smile. Just so enjoyable to ride, especially on the road. It’s just chugging along, clutch is reasonably easy and smooth, it easy to manoeuvre in traffic and it’s just a fun bike.

Hello there. For my 30th birthday I wanted to fulfill my dream and visit Japan, but since Covid happened that wasn't possible, and so than I went with Plan B on my To-Do-List and that was riding a motorcycle. I would watch your videos every day for months at work or at home until I finally got my licence, got myself a 2009 Kawasaki ER6-N and now I'm one year later and I love the hobby, the lifestyle and especially the community. I love it when bikers greet each other. It's one of the best feelings. Especially sincein Germany an open A licence is about 3-4000€ the bikers you see around are there because they mean it. So, here is to another 10 years I guess. Thanks for your insight, motivation, education and just pure entertainment. You and your team are doing an amazing job. Thank you.

What do you mean, open A license? Are you saying it costs 3k to get the full A license? That's ridiculous, here in Portugal it cost me like 1k + some 200 for extra classes.
@M1tZk1
@M1tZk1 3 ай бұрын
@DF-ss5ep When you're younger you start with an A1 licence up to 125cc, than after a few years you can do the A2 with up to 35kW on your bike and than from 25 years on there is the open A licence where you can ride any bike you want. I paid 3200€ for it, but it's gotten even more expensive since than. But Germany has one of the most expensive ones in the world. Surely because of the has prices and maybe because of safety stuff since we got the Autonahn with no speed limit in some cases. But we also have a higher fail quota from year to year. I think we're at around 50% already and that also ups the price by 500€+.

Maintenance: I do even major maintenance, but I still take my bikes in for the occasional service interval at a (good) dealership just to have a second set of eyeballs looking over the bike. It's easy to miss stuff that's developed gradually over time on a bike you look at and ride every day.

I just got my license last month after passing the msf coarse. I'm 47 and never been on a motorcycle before. Just bought a used cbr300r and loving it. Last month I couldn't imagine making it to the end of driveway and now I'm shifting into 5th and 6th gear going down the highway. Laugh at my bike all you want but I'm having fun and learning and wearing my safety gear. I feel like I spent more money on a good helmet than the bike. I think of it as a little Mercedes for my head. 😂
