Thank you for not making your relationships the focus of your 20s, you've achieved so much personally and your reflections come across as genuinely profound. I also appreciate your honesty about living at home until 27. I'm nearly 30, have been single throughout my 20s (despite countless online dates) and I still live with my family and gorgeous dogs (London is priceyyyy!) - sometimes I wonder if I've gone wrong somewhere. So much internal work has been done but because I haven't hit the traditional milestones in my 20s, my success just hasn't had the same visibility as others in my circle. And it is tough feeling behind. Like you - I love going to work, love the people I work with. But do I love the job itself? Can I love this forever? Still working that out. On the sting of heartbreak - I genuinely wonder what an alien from another planet would think if we tried to explain heartbreak and how formative it is. It's so hard to explain the deep changes that happen inside us from it. But if there's one thing, we come out of it surer of ourselves than ever and it propels us into the next stage of life. So proud of what you've built and every vlog and every story you share makes me think even more highly of you.💜 Your Greece vlog post-breakup where you went solo actually lives in my head rent-free and has inspired me to travel alone more. Very last thing! I LOVE your t-shirt, it's very relevant to the topic. Would love to know where you got it! x

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment and share your own experiences with me! ❤️ also lol i completely agree, trying to explain heartbreak to fellow humans who haven't experienced it is hard enough 😂 for the t-shirt, thank you!! its a quote from one of my favourite books - its from a small business on etsy called 'Literature Stitches'. They also have their own site, this is the link to their website, you can personalise most of the stuff - i love it all haha literaturestitches.com/collections/booklover-clothing

Nice idea to reflect on a decade of your life. I’m in my 50s and I have changed so much from my 20s - it’s a challenging time! Lovely photos, nice idea to make an album. I loved my 40s tbh, I really knew who I was and what I needed and wanted out of life. Have a lovely week ❤

This is honestly so inspiring, bad ass, graceful, and important. I'm a year old than you and it feels so special to hear you talk about learning to love yourself and just so openly reflect on life's highs and lows -- I feel similarly to you in a lot of ways. When you talked about discovering bravery and doing hard things when you're unhappy, phewwwww what a moment. This time of life is so fun and meaningful and I appreciate you sharing your reflections with us.

I really loved this vlog, it's so cozy and it's such a lovely idea to talk about your twenties and what you've learned at that age. 🥰 I will turn 31 in October, so I don't have too much experience in my 30s, but so far - it's just a number that people fuss too much about. I'd say that your late twenties take you through life lessons and teach you to prioritize yourself, stop people pleasing and open your eyes to possible toxicities in relationships and friendships. So, in your thirties you're your own biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader and that alone is the most empowering. The late twenties taught you how to handle difficult situations with grace and you know exactly what are your standards and what you want in general. To sum it up, you apply in your 30s what you learned at the end of your 20s and it's just the best feeling. 💖

Agree with Michelle! My 40s are way more settled than my 30s were, though I guess motherhood shook them up a bit 😂 I also agree that a more portfolio career is the way to go - I’ve switched career three times and strongly believe certains roles are right for certain seasons of our lives xx

I love your cozy vlogs!!! 💛You motivate me to the lifestyle I hope to build soon. My most difficult time was actually also in my mid-twenties because I didn't know what career I wanted to pursue. Now I feel lighter in my 30s and have somehow arrived. I'll soon have finished my studies and will be working in the field that I enjoy.

Really enjoyed watching this vlog Ellen. I also spent my 20s living with my parents and definitely became closer to them as a result. Though I also found I became more independent after I moved out. I agree that living by yourself and going on solo holidays are great, to the extent that I'm now just as happy going on holiday by myself than with friends! I've never been to a Gail's bakery! But I'm going to have to try that bun you were eating as it looked elite!

Hi Ellen, i really enjoy watching your videos and i don’t expect you to reply to my comment but i was wondering if you could possibly give me some advice on working as an accountant in London. I can see you worked in London, i think at one of the big 4? I am a qualified accountant with 5 years experience and I am looking to move to London and continue my career there. Do you have any advice on doing this?
@ellenalicemiller

Honestly I haven't been out in the job market much as I joined the company I worked for out of university. But my personal advice would be that job hunting in london is a numbers game - start applying to organisations you like the sound of and make sure to ask for feedback from interviewers afterwards so you can keep improving ❤️ You got this!! ❤️

It's so refreshing to hear you talk openly about relationships. I'd been engaged at a young age, it all went wrong and for ten years I was pretty much alone, I'd had dates but nothing that would stick and I honestly craved something, anything!! So much so that when a past love interest came back into my life I grabbed it with both hands. The relationship wasn't right though, we were barely together any time at all and I was still miserable. I'd spent the latter part of my 20s and early 30s desperate for someone and to start a family only to realise that I'd rather be alone than stay with someone who didn't make me happy and who wasn't right for me. It was quite refreshing actually. Here I am 4 years later, engaged and with a 2 year old and my Mr Right had been right under my nose for a decade without me seeing it 😂 I'm fairly sure I've said all of this before but none of us should settle!

I'm turning 27 on 9th September, and I'm amazed at how similar our journeys are! I also finished school with Maths and Physics direction, went to a prestigious university, and started working at a big company. However, I never felt like I was meant for any of these things. Fast forward five years: I moved to the UK, discovered marketing, and now I'm living the life I've always dreamed of! Thank you for sharing your incredible journey-it's inspired me to reflect on my own!

Oh my goodness Ellen! We went through such a similar experience of heartbreak. I was with my ex 6 years, owned a house together, blindsided out of nowhere and never given a reason. And at the time it is lonely like you are the only person going through it, it felt like I went through a divorce without getting married! And I was the same, I got through it through the strong independent women phase, determined to be strong and do something with my life rather than despair completely. Actually retrained as a nurse (just when COVID started hahahaha!!!) fast forward, I'm in my early 30s, newly married to a lovely man who I would never met if this break up didn't happen and life is good! It's so nice to hear you reflect and validate the time in your life in a positive way even though it must have been tough and recognise that you wouldn't be where you are today without it. Really interesting insight, thanks for being so open ❤

Hubby and I completed our family with our second little boy last summer and it's just been amazing. One thing I've learned after having kids is that I appreciate my body so much more than I ever have. Yes I have some stretch marks, but I literally built two human beings!!
