What will I learn if I do a degree in data engineering? In this episode, I want to show you my recent experience so tha we can answer this question. I'll take you through the courses that I took, as well as explore the dissertation and challenges that I had along the way. I did my study at Edinburgh Napier University, through their remote learning programme. I found the experience to be very rewarding, and recommend the study of data engineering to anyone who has a knack with technology and is interested in data.

Do you have any advice on similar online masters programs in the US? I’m having trouble finding a DE program that includes most of this info in their curriculum. Thank you!

I remember that I did not see many options for online degrees in the US. Good question to ask the audience. Any other viewers out there that have an experience with an online degree for DE in the US? You could also ask Stafford Global as I believe they handle many universities. Make sure to mention my channel (and let me know) if you apply somewhere through them and you might get some savings by mentioning my referral (I also benefit).

Hello Sean, Hope you are doing well. I have 11 years of experiance in database development.I did my Diploma in advance diploma in computer application. Can I do msc in data engineering from edinburge neiper university. Cause in the website I have checked it. Please suggest me. 1 more thing Stafford global are doing my enrollment. I want to know is the degree is real and the Stafford global is doing my admission ,is it real? Please suggest me. And the last question is after this msc course can I do phd or something like that?
@seanmackenziedataengineering

Yes I think if you have the diploma and a decade of experience, you may be able to qualify. Stafford only handles the admission preparation and international payments for the university (and other universities). The university needs to approve your admission. Once you are admitted and start the program, you don't really hear from Stafford, except when they check in from time to time. Good luck on your admission to Edinburgh Napier University!

@@seanmackenziedataengineering Thank you for your time and your suggestion. Only 1 question after this course can I do higher education or not? And at the time of study ,if I face any issue or doubt ,who will resolve the issue? And what will be the exam process in semester?

@@diptasundarsahoo6728 during the course of study you attend lectures with professors and assistants just like attending university in person. You write a dissertation while being supervised at the end, as the last step of your work. If your work is very good, you may apply for publication and if successful, further work for your PhD.

Pretty good program! On the programme page, they have a heading called "What you study". Under the disclaimer, there is a link for "Study modules". Paste one of the names from "What you study" into the search on the "Study modules" page, you can get a much more detailed description.

Do Power BI and R overlap for statistics?
@seanmackenziedataengineering
@seanmackenziedataengineering 2 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. Power BI is pretty awesome on its own, but then you can extend it further by writing R directly in Power BI for really complex stuff. You can also write Python in there.

Hey Sean , do you think someone should do a master's degree in data engineering in the USA if he's from India ?
@seanmackenziedataengineering
@seanmackenziedataengineering 2 жыл бұрын
Great question.. learning new things is never a bad thing. It depends on what your goals are. If you intend to live and work in the USA, the credential will be easily recognized by people there. I don't know much about the Indian tech market. Definitely would not hurt! Are you comparing with getting one in India?

Hi Sean. Very informative video. I have a question. I've done my Bachelors in Data Science. However the job prospects in my country are not good. I want to step into the field of data engineering (have already gotten familiar with basic concepts in this field). Will a masters degree in Data Engineering from Germany help me getting into this career (i don't have any professional work experience yet).
@seanmackenziedataengineering
@seanmackenziedataengineering Жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. I think having a DE degree will let people know you have expertise in this computer science specialization. It will probably open some doors for you. Also, some contracts/positions require a Master's, so that will allow you to approach those opportunities.
@shehrozkhan9563
@shehrozkhan9563 Жыл бұрын
@seanmackenziedataengineering Definitely. But all Data Engineering jobs require multiple years of experience, at least in some other related field. So my question is, how much will a Masters in Data Engineering compensate me for my lack of experience in this field?

@seanmackenziedataengineering

@@shehrozkhan9563well, it is difficult to replace experience. If you have an opportunity to work in DE now, definitely take it. If no, having the DE Masters will help you land that first role. If you are applying for DE roles, having the DE credential shows how you are aligned to that goal. Plus. most of the DE programmes have real world / internship-like activities attached to them, so they can help you get that first experience on your resume.

Why use R vs Python? I feel like I should be able to perform the same tasks in Python.
@seanmackenziedataengineering
@seanmackenziedataengineering 2 жыл бұрын
Some environments use R for data science modeling and output. I find Python to be more widely useful as a language but R is killer for statistics, and R markdown makes the output of reports really easy compared to Python. Preference I suppose.
