Thank you so much for compiling this beautiful piece. I know it sounds weird, but when the kids started singing and especially when Bert started singing, I wept. My family didn't own many movies due to lack of money, so we watched what we did own many times over. Mary Poppins was one of those we watched a few times per month. This film always reminded me of the relationship between me and my dad. He was always working and we got very little time together when I look back. One of my fondest memories, though, is a spontaneous day-trip we did to London, where we just wandered and took in everything that London is: a place of magical wonder for a northern kid. The way that Mr Banks' relationship with his children is saved hits a lot closer to home than it used to, though, since I lost him suddenly six years ago. We never got to get that kite-flying moment, mainly from his work and me being an angsty teen. I can't describe how or why, but this helps me to relive some of those unforgettable moments I had with my dad. They were fleeting, like going to London for a day, but I will always cherish them. Pogo, you have my heartfelt thanks for being an incredible musician and for helping me to reminisce.
