What I Love About Moana 2

Finally a POSITIVE review of the movie , it is one of the better Disney sequels too The animation was top notch as always songs and score while not as good as the first one still were good (Beyond , Get Lost and CheeHoo) the expansion of lore and story i really liked, i want to explore this world more so im excited for a possible 3 , also having a deity as a villain

Totally agree. I personally liked this a lot more than frozen 2. I think a lot of the problems were a result of a rushed/confusing production.

Moana 2 is a movie that doesn’t and never needed to exist. But DAMN I love it. I get it, it’s quite a flawed movie. And it’s following in the footsteps of one of the greatest modern Disney movies. But I feel like people hyperfocus on the flaws while completely ignoring the good parts of the movie. This one is definitely more of an acquired taste than the original, but it’s not outright bad like many people have been saying.

Finally some genuine positivity for this film, people just want to yell of how bad it is, (which, if its about not wanting to give Disney more money, I get it, same here) but Moana 2 was really not as bad as people kept yelling it to be, its okay for a movie to be “mid” and still be able to tell their story. I love Moana 1 and Moana 2 definitely didn’t need to exist because the ending to Moana 1 is already perfect as it is, but alas Disney wanted more money and I actually don’t mind Moana 2’s existence it certainly expanded the lore a bit more. Obviously its not as great as the first one and it clearly shows. The editing was the worst for me, there’s a scene where its Moana seeing Maui for the first time again she excitedly calls his name then Maui is confused why she’s here, then Moana just immediately does the haka and opens the gate, which I don’t know if she even knows about the gate? The 3/4 new characters were very weak so I didn’t care for them since I was only there for Moana and Maui only. Moana becoming a demigoddess opens up some tragic potential and possibilities that was probably foreshadowed in Beyond. It’s probably unlikely for disney to confirm that she’s an immortal but at the same time Maui did grew up to an adult when he was turned into a demigod, he just stops aging at a certain point.

I know, people are definitely being too harsh to this movie. In my opinion it doesn’t do anything to hurt the characters, world, or story from the first movie, it only adds/enhances it. Which is everything a sequel should do! It’s certainly not a perfect movie, and not a story that ~needed~ to be told, but I’d rather have more sequels than more remakes 🤷🏻 at least it’s a new story I absolutely love the decision to turn her into a demigod-esque hero. Like you said it enhances the storytelling potential a great deal for the future film.

Omg I definitely noticed the thing with bat girl’s feet 😭 when she was taunting Maui I was like why is everything in shadow but her feet
