I did and i do and absolutely love it,it's worn every single day without exception, got a few light surface scratches nothing that won't come off when serviced at Rolex,don't see the point of paying all that money out to have it locked away for special occasions only, pointless! I've had my name down for a white faced Daytona for quite a while now still a bit longer to wait mind with the length of the waiting list but that will be worn and enjoyed regularly as well

I was under the impression that they didn't put AR coatings on the sapphire because it can wear off (its resistance to wear and tear is nothing compared to the sapphire). I've had my BLNR for 2 years now, and I have just had the cyclops replaced under warranty by Rolex, but through the AD, because the AR coating was wearing off and leaving a little cloud on the lens (the watch is otherwise in excellent condition). I'd keep an eye out for this if you have one, and if it does happen push the AD because Rolex WILL replace the cyclops - it's becoming a known issue.

Got my BLNR nearly 3 years ago, took me a whole year to feel comfortable wearing it regularly. Have sense purchased the new Daytona and now I wear them both almost daily. I just decided it was more fun to enjoy wearing them vs enjoying owning them. Even with the Daytona and 7-8 other watches the Batman is my favorite. Congrats on a great watch!

I think that what people object to are people that invest in watches purely for investment - they don't like the watch or wear the watch they are just hoping it goes up in value. You buy watches you like and wear and have potential investment value. Anyone who has a problem with that is just jealous or stupid. I loved seeing this watches together and your enthusiasm Adrian. I have the exact same watch, at the begining took time. All i can say is that, that watch is the kind of watch to wear it and give it time. It will feel part of you, you will see, do it the right way, wear it as much as you can and enjoy and you will see what a watch is all about, that watch! Daytonas, green subs, Pepsi etc they are all nice, but once you have it all, that one will always make you think twice! Phenomenal watch, the First one from Rolex! Enjoy it and congratulations...

Built quality is far superior on the Batman, but it's the Kermit for me any day. I find the older cases far more elegant than the new ones. Wouldn't buy any of them at current prices, though.

No offence Adrian but to my eye there's something wrong with the proportions between the bracelet and the lugs. Looks sort of top heavy and a slightly clumsy design to me with those wide lugs. Perhaps they should have gone for a 22 mm bracelet and a bit more lug taper. Great video's though.

I disagree with your comment that "the only thing that makes the 'BLNR' special is that it's a watch that's hard to find". It is the first Rolex watch to have the dual color (black and blue) ceramic bezel, just in case you were not aware of that fact. I also like the "Kermit", but feel that the 'BLNR" is a far more engaging watch. Cheers!!

I never cared for the colored GMT bezels, like green, blue, red and root-beer colors.....they made the GMT look cheaper. This is why I never bought these kiddie colored GMT watches Until now....I just bought the beautiful, grand looking and very classy latest GMT release the gorgeous Grey/Black GMT model 126710GRNR. This is of course is a very personal choice. To each his own.

The Batman is special because it is the f@cking first bi color cerachrome bezel that Rolex has ever made! I also disagree about the glide lock compared to the comfort link. The comfort link also allows for a much sleeker clasp. I love your content btw

I agree on the aluminium bezel yet I think the black dial gives it a very formal and elegant appearance. Whereas I consider the Hulk more of a casual watch. Still I like the Kermit more for its versatility matching every black smoking without standing out too much.

I just don't want to own those terrible older Rolex bracelets and clasps. I keep my "collectible" cue sticks in a safe, so I get it. I'm shopping for my 1st Rolex and was set on the Sub 116610LN, but I've become absolutely smitten with the Batman. I can appreciate the Kermit (as well as the Hulk), but I prefer black & blue as color choices for my watches. I do like Yellow & Orange as possible accent colors, but I digress. I definitely prefer the Batman. I'm hoping to make one my 1st Rolex...and hope to get a new 1 as you did. Thanks for the great videos.

I was in the same boat at you. I loved the GMT (batman or all black) more than sub but when I saw it on my wrist the GMT's numerals on the bezel was just too busy and I thought the sub was just more refined and looked 'better'. So GMT may look better on paper but go try it on and see for yourself. If it's part of a rotation get a GMT, if you want an every day tool watch get a sub!

You make me sad. Ive worn a Sub, GMT, or SeaDweller 4K every day for nearly 40 years. You are missing out on the durability and everything that makes these great. Ive backed cars over them. Ive passed them along as gifts. I love them so much for simply telling time that I can't even tolerate the function of an Apple watch for its primary function. Hopefully they make your safety deposit boxes happy. I bought my first Submariner with grass cutting money in the mid eighties for like $500....worn every single day since then...its still going .....with yellow tritium and all its glory. Im pretty sure no battery watch can do the same.

Yes I’d keep the Kermit as your “investment” if you like and use the Batman as your beater! Although it’s hard to impress anybody apart from hardcore watch enthusiasts with a steel watch as this is not really a luxury material!

6.5" wrist, you seriously should be looking at a 36mm Datejust or OP. The OP36 with a blue dial and 3-6-9 numerals, for instance. If you must have a white dial, the OP36 has this option too.

The OP36 is a nice watch but the double batons at 3,6,9 weren’t to my taste although admittedly they are growing on me. I do like the DJ36 I can’t really justify the extra £1000 in commands over the OP. That OP36 really is persuading me after just looking at it again. I guess I need to go to an AD and try them on. Im in no particular rush though and have a bit more saving to do before I make the jump to Rolex ownership. You never know they might release something next year that grabs my attention.

My wife thinks I’m mad wearing my DSSD to work, as I have a rather active role in law enforcement here in the U.K. Yes it gets scuffs and scratches on the case but it just adds to the personalisation of the watch. I wouldn’t wear a delicate timepiece like a PP Calatrava to work for obvious reasons but these Rolex steel sports models are tool watches and are made to enjoy in harsh environments. Although I wouldn’t leave it hanging around in the station locker room! 🤔🤣

Hi Jay, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, although somewhat presumptuous. I've bought many a watch that's increased in price, however, it needs to be a large increase to justify it being classed as an investment opportunity. I wouldn't for a second claim to be an investment expert, however, the idea of an investment isn't hard, nor is it new to me. I bought my first Rolex solely from trading £700 on CFD shares and Forex. I've made a few videos pointing out that only a select few watches can be used as investments. It's exactly the same as shares and any other investment vehicle. You'll lose money if you don't know what you're doing. I agree, there's a whole lot for me to learn about horology. Again, that's mentioned a few times in videos as well. And that's one of the reasons I started the channel. It's given me topics to explore. For example, at the weekend I spent a few hours with Patek to learn about their history and watches. On 25th Jan I'm visiting Roger Smith at his workshop to learn about the traditional processes he uses to create his watches. I'm currently organising a factory tour with Bremont so I can explore their level of watchmaking, pushing towards mass production. Hi Jake, as mentioned numerous times before, the hype is a great reason for investing. A few years ago there was huge hype around gold. I made money off that. Bitcoin, I made money off that. I can't remember what happened exactly, but about 4-5 years ago something happened in NZ, and I made a shit load of money off NZD/USD - I actually took a week off work to monitor the markets better. I made money off a lot of Apple's ups and downs across a few years. All of these instances were because of hype. Hype is what moves markets. You can't make money if the instrument isn't moving. When bulls stop charging, that's when you think about cashing in or holding. For example, selling a batman at the moment would be silly, the market is soft. Wait until Rolex discontinues the batman, then the hype kicks up, then you sell. It's quite simple when you think about it.

Watches aren't investments. Some specific watches from specific watch brands may increase in value but then again so do stamps, Lego and t-shirts. Doesn't make them investments. I may tell my wife they are...but doesn't make that sweeping statement true.

When you start using your watches in water will understand why Rolex do not use anti reflex coating on top of the crystal. Other brands are not supposed to be used for purpose.... I will never buy a sport watch with coat on top, maybe a dress watch with leather strap is perfect.

It went up in value as he walked out of the AD. Of course it could change but you can’t say “will never go up in value” when he could sell it right now for more than the price paid...

Well they do and they are holding Adrian's papers (see a previous video). All UK Rolex ADs hold papers of certain models for one year to prevent flipping. Not sure it's totally legal, and I don't agree with it, but it's happening.

I know its happening and I understand why, but it doesnt change the point I made (abt the watch being worth way more than retail face value). It's not a rule for all, diff ADs are doing it, and some aren't my AD may do it if someone waits for "flipper type" like a Hulk etc, but they certainly wouldn't if you'd bought from them before and walk in wearing the watch you bought from them. If they know you are buying for you, you will get the paperwork. Im 100% certain I'd get paperwork is what I'm saying. This is all in the distant past it feels since I watched these vids, id forgotten they'd kept his papers, but I understand why they would keep his paperwork as he was a first time buyer and they are trying to curb the flipping.

Steel watches will become "yours" with each scar. People get scars, it's very special for your watch to get them along with you. First off, bad analogy, a car can get wrecked and that's it. A watch gets desk rash which can be buffed out to original condition. (Check the youtube videos on that service by Rolex). Both car and watch need oil changes, tho. Second, It's all relative, I have four watches I rotate out for daily wear that are more expensive than the Kermit and I throw on an Everest rubber straps on my Deepsea so I don't get desk rash on the links and buy rubber strap APs, just because it's fun to have a blue watch one day, a yellow watch the next and an all black one to spare. At first you are apprehensive about walking around with a valuable watch and after a while you I don't worry about it..because 98% of the people don't care what watch you have on. It's like changing your shirt for work. Finally, I have a Rolex Pepsi with that same band as his batman. I agree, it looks sparkly in the showroom with the colored LED lights and rather plain walking around in daylight or at night. So it gets worn less. Stunning watches!! I’ve had this discussion so many times with people - I have a Rolex sub 14060 1996 tritium dial never serviced however just been resealed. I wear it everywhere from gym pool steam and sauna too motorbike sleep shower work casual never leaves my wrist. I can’t buy something worth thousands of pounds and not wear the bloody thing, you got to enjoy it on your wrist and just wear it! However if you don’t feel comfortable using don’t buy it that’s my thoughts.

Very good point. Also, when you're wearing it 24/7 you are very unlikely to ever lose it. I also heard that servicing is cost inefficient since Rolex will just exchange worn out parts, no matter the condition and the time of servicing.

I’ve heard that the anti reflective coating only works as intended on a domed crystal and wouldn’t help the flat Rolex crystal. That would explain why it’s on the cyclops. Omega, in comparison, uses domed crystals and AR. Not 100% sure this is accurate 🤷🏻‍♂️

My Speedy Mk II from 2014 has a flat crystal and has AR. In most situations the crystal simply disappears.

guess what ...read your comment. I’ve heard that explanation before too: that they intentionally let the light reflect that way to be more attention grabbing. As far as I’m aware Rolex has never addressed the question directly and it’s been a widely debated topic in the forums for many years. Do you have a source? You say that’s straight from the horse’s mouth, but do you have a link to a statement officially made by Rolex about that? I’m not saying you’re not correct, I’m genuinely curious and I’d love to hear a definitive answer on this.

Batman fan all the way. I'm daily wearing mine since about 2 1/2 years now and it stayed in near mint condition. Those things are made strong so don't be too shy about it. Fun fact: I closed at least 1 business deal because of this watch. My profit was about the price of the watch so I kind of think that that watch already paid itself. It might helped to close other deals that I'm not aware off. So think about that: for the money side, it could be more profitable to wear it than to preserve it. Awesome video's cheer from Canada!

I have a friend that always wanted a 5 series BMW.. Worked hard for 4 years after we graduated and he finally was able to buy that shiny new blue BMW. It was his dream car. Problem was, he was so scared something would happen to it, so it sat in the garage until a few years later when he was diagnosed with cancer. He sold it as a loss even though it had very few miles on it and died within a year and half of selling it. If something has the ability to make you happy, use and embrace it. I just picked up my Batman today. Great watch but like you said not as showy outside the store. I only waited 4 mos on a waiting list. For me it's the Batman because it really kinda blend in as a daily watch. Thanks for the videos and it help me get on the waiting list with a Rolex AD.

Rolex have created this environment by not producing enough sports Watches and they have spoiled Watch ownership for many collectors with their petulant attitude. If there was a good supply of sports Rolex Watches and you knew that you could not re-sell them for a profit many people would just wear them and enjoy them.
